Chapter 201: Gryffindor Has No Secrets
Chapter 201: Gryffindor Has No Secrets
The next day, Albert and his roommates slept in, only getting up around noon for lunch. Along the way, they heard many students discussing the events of the previous night.
The loud noise Albert had made in the library had startled quite a few people in the castle.
As expected, the news had spread like wildfire by morning.
Lee Jordan found it a little amusing. Albert had told them about it, but he never expected that one Accio spell would cause such a ruckus, knocking over the large bookshelves in the library. Just thinking about Albert's frustrated expression last night in the Room of Requirement made Lee want to laugh. It wasn't often that something bothered Albert.
However, the Room of Requirement really was a great place. These guys had only told him about it last night! Jerks! "It seems this incident has caused quite a stir," Fred couldn't help but remark.
"Eat your food," Albert said, picking up a piece of fried chicken and stuffing it into Fred's mouth. Then he turned to the girl beside him, Sinna, and asked, "Didn't you catch those students who were out after hours?"
You already know the answer to that,
Fred took the chicken leg and bit into it, forcibly suppressing the urge to retort, and instead flipped Albert the bird.
"Yeah, we did," Sinna glanced at Albert and replied with a hint of mystery in her voice, "One Hufflepuff and one Ravenclaw. I heard they were on a date. It was supposed to be a romantic evening, but then..."
Pfft! "Sorry, sorry," George couldn't hold back his laughter and quickly apologized.
The others looked at George, who was struggling to contain his laughter, with confusion, asking, "What's so funny? Is it that hilarious?"
"Well, going on a date at night can be quite romantic, but that couple obviously became scapegoats for someone else," George shook his head, "I feel kind of bad for them. It's all because of that jerk who made all that noise."
"Yeah, it's all because of that jerk who deliberately caused a ruckus," Fred agreed, "Scared the wits out of me last night, too."
"Ahem," Lee Jordan, who had just taken a big bite of his bread, started choking and had to take a gulp of water to recover, "I just heard that the noise came from the library, but nothing seemed amiss there?"
"That is weird," Fred mumbled, "Do you guys think it might have been Peeves playing a prank?"
In fact, the trio secretly admired Albert. With just one spell, he had caused quite a mess in the library. And before leaving, he had even restored everything to its original state. What was even more laughable was that Albert hadn't forgotten to close the library door, leaving everyone else confused about what had transpired.
"I heard it was a Gryffindor student," Albert mumbled after swallowing his food, "The professors even went to ask Fat Lady about it."
"Yeah, I was in the common room at the time, and a lot of people gathered to eavesdrop, but no one knew who did it. According to Professor Smith, it should have been an older student from the house," Sinna said, her eyes narrowing suspiciously at the four unusually quiet individuals. Her expression suddenly turned strange, and she asked, "You guys woke up pretty late today, huh?"
"Yeah," Albert replied, "We played Wizarding Chess pretty late into the night."
"I won the most times," Fred boasted, lifting his chin proudly. Of course, he wasn't wrong, as they had only played three games, and he had won two of them.
"Don't tell me... it was you four last night!" Sinna suddenly asked in a hushed tone. Angelina, sitting next to her, looked up in astonishment, her eyes wide as she stared at the group.
Neither denying nor confirming.
The atmosphere became a little awkward as Albert and his friends focused on their food, as if they hadn't eaten in days.
"Really?" Angelina asked tentatively.
Fred, his mouth full of food, mumbled incoherently, "Who knows?"
"Did I get any owl post today? I mean, did my owl arrive?"
Albert steered the conversation in a different direction, mentioning that he received owl post almost every week.
"Oh, I have some for you right here!" Sinna reached into her robe and pulled out two letters, handing them to Albert. "Seems like you get quite a lot of mail."
"Can't help it, I have a lot of pen pals," Albert replied, glancing at the senders' names before shrugging. "I've been busy lately. I need to head to the library later to finish my homework and borrow some books."
"The library is temporarily closed today. It will officially reopen tomorrow," Percy said as he stood behind them with his plate, eyeing the twins with suspicion. "I heard Madam Pince plans to inspect the books."
"Yeah, that's quite a task," Albert agreed.
"By the way, about what happened last night, it wasn't done by any of the older students in the house," Percy suddenly added. "I just heard that none of the older students went out for a night stroll."
"Oh, then who was it?" George asked in return.
"No idea, but everyone is curious to know who it was," Percy mumbled. "Apparently, Filch almost turned the castle upside down last night, but he still couldn't catch those students."
"What a pity," Fred said with a shrug.
"Where were you guys last night?" Percy suddenly asked.
"In bed, of course," George rolled his eyes. "We played Wizarding Chess until late, then chatted about it some more before sleeping. Hey, do you want to join the Wizarding Card Club?"
"What club?" Percy asked, taken aback for a moment.
"The Wizarding Card Club!" Fred pulled out a Wizarding card and waved it in front of Percy. "Want to join?"
"This is strange," Charlie muttered.
"What is it?" Percy looked at his second brother.
"No one seems to know who went on the night stroll yesterday," Charlie replied.
"Are you going to report those students?" George asked with a hint of self-mockery after swallowing his food. "They didn't get caught by the professors, but they sure were affected by you guys."
Charlie's face twisted in exasperation, though he couldn't deny that George's words held some truth.
After all, Gryffindor had no secrets! "Could it have been you two?" Percy directed a suspicious glance at Fred and George, his own brothers being the most likely culprits for such a prank.
"We were discussing Wizarding cards last night. Oh, and Percy, would you mind if we made a card for you?" George asked with a mischievous glint in his eyes.
"No, thanks," Percy refused bluntly.
"Actually, I already made one for you. A secret card, just for you," Fred said with a sly smile.
"Is something wrong?"
Lee Jordan noticed Albert's furrowed brow and inquired.
"It's nothing, just some trivial matters," Albert replied, folding the letter and tucking it into his pocket.
"That doesn't look like nothing," Lee Jordan grumbled, but when Albert didn't elaborate, he dropped the subject.
One of the letters Sinna had given Albert was from Isabelle, informing him that the time for learning the Legilimency spell had been moved forward.
Initially, Albert had planned to finish reading 'Advanced Legilimency Guide' before learning the spell from her.
And now, he had dug himself into a hole.
If only he had taken the risk and brought the book with him last night.
"I have to go, I have an appointment soon!" Albert finished the food on his plate and got up, intending to head back to his dorm to retrieve the fee for the Legilimency lesson.
"Isabelle?" Sinna asked suddenly.
"You know that Ravenclaw genius, too?" Percy looked at Albert in surprise.
"Yeah, we're in the same club," Albert replied casually.
"The same club?" Sinna echoed with a strange tone.
"Well, two clubs, actually," Albert shrugged and left. (End of Chapter)
