As Alpha activated his transforming Duel Disk, a transparent wave rippled outwards, enveloping the entire arena in a faint blue barrier.
You Xuan immediately recognized it as similar technology to the Duel Disk Kaiba had used in their previous encounter.
"A Scientific Dark Duel?" You Xuan furrowed his brows. He knew that the Taiyi Organization from 5D's used similar technology, but they were from the future. Aside from Kaiba, could there be others from this era who possessed such advanced knowledge? This piqued his curiosity about Alpha's origins.
"Very well," You Xuan said as he unfolded his own Duel Disk.
"Duel!" they both exclaimed.

"I'll start," Alpha declared. "I draw!"
You Xuan revealed a card from his hand. "I activate the Continuous Spell, 'Messenger of Peace.' All monsters with an ATK higher than 1500 cannot declare an attack."
Similar to cards like "Gravity Bind" and "Level Limit - Area B," this was a common card used to restrict attacks in the early days of Dueling. However, this card offered more flexibility. Its controller had the option to pay 100 Life Points during each of their Standby Phases to maintain its effect or choose to destroy it without paying any cost.
This allowed the controller to lift the attack restriction during any turn of their choice.
"Blocking my attacks right from the start, huh?" Alpha crossed his arms and smirked. "Are you that afraid of the power of my deck?"
You Xuan didn't respond to the taunt; instead, he smiled and continued, "I activate the Spell Card, 'Hand Destruction.' Both players discard their entire hands and then draw the same number of cards they discarded."
Alpha drew his new cards while discreetly observing You Xuan's expression after the draw.
Is he searching for a specific card or combination? Alpha wondered.
"I'll Normal Summon one monster in face-down defense mode and Set one card. That's the end of my turn." You Xuan concluded.
"Hmph, it seems you couldn't find the combination you were looking for. Now, be crushed under the might of my cards! My turn, draw!" Alpha declared, waving his hand dramatically.
"I Normal Summon 'Dragon Knight of Creation'!" A blond-haired knight wielding a sword and clad in white armor appeared on the field, his cape billowing behind him.

"When this card is Normal Summoned, I can equip it with a Level 7 or 8 Dragon-Type monster from my hand or Deck." Alpha explained as he retrieved a card from his Deck that he had searched earlier. "I equip 'Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier' from my Deck."
A spectral dragon made of shimmering light appeared and attached itself to the knight's sword, as if its soul had fused with the blade.
"Next, I activate the Continuous Spell, 'Ruins of the Divine Dragon'!" Alpha proclaimed.
A sculpture of a colossal dragon emerged on the field, surrounded by what appeared to be the ruins of an ancient temple.
"Once per turn, I can send any face-up card on the field, except this card, to the Graveyard and Special Summon a 'Divine Dragon Token' (0/0)." Alpha explained the effect of the card. "I send 'Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier,' which is currently equipped to 'Dragon Knight of Creation,' to the Graveyard and Special Summon a 'Divine Dragon Token' in Attack Position!"

"Additionally, 'Dragon Knight of Creation' has an effect that allows me to Tribute one monster on my field, including this card, to Special Summon a Level 7 or 8 Dragon-Type monster from my Graveyard. So, I Tribute 'Dragon Knight of Creation' and the 'Divine Dragon Token' to Special Summon 'Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier' from my Graveyard!" Alpha declared, his voice filled with excitement.
The knight and the token vanished, and from the dazzling light that remained, a majestic dragon took form and descended amidst the scattered sparks of light.

"So, it's this deck, huh?" You Xuan said, stroking his chin.
You Xuan grew increasingly curious about the identity of his opponent.
"Arc Brave Dragon successfully special summons from the graveyard! All face-up Magic and Trap Cards on your opponent's field are banished!" Alpha declared. "Messenger of Peace, be gone!"
A dazzling radiance erupted from the dragon's body, and a storm of light swept away the Messenger of Peace in the back row, banishing it to the other end of the dimensional realm.
"Furthermore, each time a card is banished by this effect, Arc Brave Dragon's attack increases by 200!"

"With that, your attack lockdown is lifted. Such a simple tactic is useless against my Shining Dragon!"
Alpha laughed heartily.
"Fight! Crush! Arc Brave Dragon, attack the face-down monster!"
The Arc Brave Dragon opened its mouth, releasing a blinding flash of light. The facedown monster was revealed to be a red-skinned blacksmith.

"The monster you attacked is 'Master Craftsman Kotetsu,'" You Xuan said. "'When this card is flipped face-up, you can add 1 Equip Spell from your Deck to your hand.'"
He drew a card he had searched from his deck.
"I add the Equip Spell 'Butterfly Dagger - Echo' to my hand."
Any student who had witnessed the deadly might of this "Butterfly Dagger One-Hit Kill" combo back in school would be sweating bullets right now. Yet, Alpha seemed oblivious to the severity of the situation.
"End of the Battle Phase. Set three cards face-down on the field."
Three facedown cards appeared in Alpha's back row.
"Additionally, I activate the Continuous Spell, 'Nightmare Mirage' from my hand! During your Standby Phase, I can draw cards until I have 4 cards in my hand!"
You Xuan glanced at the three facedown cards in Alpha's back row.
Judging by their placement, these facedown cards were likely meant to increase hand size.
He guessed that at least one of them was a Very Hungry Caterpillar.
"By the way," Alpha added with a smirk, "'Ruins of the Divine Dragon' has another effect. When I have a 7- or 8-star Dragon-Type monster on my field, only monsters Special Summoned from the graveyard can activate their effects among all Special Summoned monsters on both sides. Any monster Special Summoned from anywhere else besides the graveyard will have their effects negated during the turn they are summoned!"
You Xuan nodded slightly. "That's quite troublesome."
"Hmph." Alpha crossed his arms. "If you don't want to keep getting pummeled, you still have a chance to surrender and join us now."
You Xuan studied Alpha's stance and pose for a moment.
"Don't you think your way of speaking and some of your movements are similar to Seto Kaiba?"
"Oh? You've noticed?" Alpha chuckled.
"Indeed. I am—"
"A die-hard fan of President Kaiba?" You Xuan interrupted.
"Yes, I am a die-hard fan of Seto Kaiba. Ptooey!"
Alpha scowled, his rhythm momentarily thrown off.
"Nonsense! I am the latest generation AI, designed with Seto Kaiba as my prototype, codenamed Alpha. Seto Kaiba is destined to be replaced by us, and we will guide the Kaiba Corporation back to the right path!"
You Xuan: "."
Hearing Alpha's villainous proclamation, You Xuan's first reaction wasn't surprise or shock, but a natural response—a classic retort.
