Chapter 200: The Third Wave of Monster Siege
Chapter 200: The Third Wave of Monster Siege
An hour and a half later, Su Yu returned to the game.
By now, almost all the buildings in the village had been upgraded.
The recruitment team had also brought back the latest batch of 242 refugees to the village.
After logging in, Su Yu first opened the territory's attribute panel to check the status.
The current attributes of the territory were:
Apex Village
- Level: Mega Village
- Population: 811/1000
- Prosperity: 86/100
- Habitability: 68/100
- Resources: Food 2568, Wood 17569, Stone 2567, Gold 624, Iron 426
The village's resource reserves were very abundant, ensuring there would be no shortage of building materials or gold for technological advancements in the near future.
The Prosperity and Habitability had dropped significantly due to the arrival of the new batch of refugees.
However, that wasn't a problem. Since the next batch of refugees wouldn't arrive for another two hours, Su Yu had plenty of time to restore both values to above 90.
With the population of the territory increasing once again, Su Yu received a game announcement:
"Apex Village has reached a population of 600 and has successfully been promoted to a Mega Village. The expansion of the village area has compressed the living space of the surrounding monsters. Therefore, in 30 minutes, a new wave of monsters will attack Apex Village. Please prepare your defenses."
"The average level of the attacking monsters is 14, with a total of 1557 monsters. This includes 1400 regular monsters, 140 elite monsters, 14 boss monsters, 2 superior boss monsters, and 1 rare boss monster. Countdown: 29:57."
The average level of this wave of attacking monsters was 14, matching the average level of the players in the guild.
Su Yu thought to himself, "This wave of defense shouldn't be a problem. Organizing the guild players should be enough to hold the line and allow them to gain some experience and equipment. However, for the next wave, we need to call in reinforcements and prepare in advance."
With that in mind, he opened the private chat interface and messaged Range is Truth: "Are you ready? The next wave of the monster siege is in two and a half hours. The average level of the next wave is likely to be 17 or 18, with around 2000 monsters."
Snow Leopard had been busy offline dealing with the Lingwu Spring Eye, so Su Yu could only contact Range is Truth.
Range is Truth, of course, agreed to help Su Yu defend the village. He quickly replied, "Sure, we'll be there in two hours. If the monsters are 17 or 18 levels, we'll need to take this seriously."
The average level of the "Relevant Departments" guild elite team was also around 18, and with the large number of monsters, they would need to be cautious to avoid any mishaps.
"Great, looking forward to your arrival!" Su Yu replied and closed the private chat.
Then he opened the Monster Siege General Command chat room: "Nuclear Wastewater, you five are ready. The test is about to begin."
"Understood, President. We've already organized the guild players by class and will be in formation outside the village in 15 minutes," Nuclear Wastewater responded.
Half an hour later, a pale yellow light circle spread from the center of Apex Village, extending out to a distance of two kilometers before stopping and remaining suspended.
Under the influence of the light circle, all wild animals and birds disappeared, leaving Apex Village in an eerie calm.
A calm before the storm.
"Is it coming?" Many players in the village perked up, knowing that the pale yellow light circle was a sign that the monsters were about to attack.
System Announcement: "The Monster Siege on Aupshi Village is about to begin."
Rumble.
A low, distant rumble echoed, and the ground beneath the players' feet began to tremble slightly.
Moments later, a horde of monsters spawned from the light circle, advancing toward Aupshi Village's wooden walls.
Level 13 Fluffbunny, Level 14 Spiky Porcupine, Level 15 Forest Bear, Level 16 Morning Dew Sprite, Level 16 Shadow Python.
The siege monsters were strategically arranged:
- The Forest Bear with its high defense and thick health stood at the forefront, acting as a tank.
- The Shadow Python remained in stealth, coiled around the bears. Once close to the target, it would break stealth and attack with its sharp teeth, quick and deadly, serving as an assassin.
- The Fluffbunny could cast Fireball, with the Elite Fluffbunny capable of casting Rain of Fire and Blazing Storm, making them the siege's area-of-effect mages.
- The Spiky Porcupine could shoot venomous spikes, acting as a ranged attacker.
- The Morning Dew Sprite could use the dew it carried to heal surrounding monsters, functioning as a healer.
The players' formation mirrored the monsters', with tanks in the front, warriors and assassins mixed in, and ranged classes like healers, archers, and mages positioned at the back or atop the wooden walls.
As the monsters drew closer, the atmosphere became tense.
The players struck first, arrows and spells slicing through the air to focus on the Morning Dew Sprites and Fluffbunnies, the most threatening monsters to the players.
The siege monsters did not back down.
Porcupine spikes and Fluffbunny fireballs rained down on the players' rear and the wall's top, taking out players with flashes of white light. The bears charged into the densest groups of players, trampling them, while the pythons struck like lightning, aiming for the players' throats.
The battle grew intense.
Both sides were roughly equal in level, but the players had better coordination, while the monsters had the advantage in numbers.
As the battle reached its peak, neither side could gain the upper hand, resulting in a deadlock.
Su Yu found himself playing the role of a "firefighter."
Using Invisibility, he approached the Rare Boss Spiky Porcupine Leader (Level 18, Rare) and dispatched it with a single Minor Fireball.
Before he could catch his breath, a message appeared in the chat.
Nuclear Wastewater: "Boss! A Fluffbunny Boss on the eastern side is casting powerful spells, taking out dozens of players and creating a breach in our defenses."
Su Yu: "On my way."
One minute later.
Godzilla: "Boss, a massive venomous snake has appeared on the western side, and many players are terrified."
Su Yu: "Let them cry; I'll be there shortly."
Another minute passed.
Nuclear Pollution: "Boss, a troublesome Sprite on the northern side is proving difficult to hurt."
Su Yu: "I'll head there now."
A few seconds later.
Mutant: "Boss, according to reports from players in the village, a group of Fishmen have appeared in the southern river, a direction where no monsters have ever appeared before."
Su Yu: "I'll check it out."
"Boss."
"Boss."
For the next ten minutes, Su Yu rushed from one side of the village to the other, putting out fires and beginning to wonder if he had become a nanny.
