Chapter 200: Admitting the Unadmittable
Chapter 200: Admitting the Unadmittable
Him, Ivan Hals!
The Werewolf Savior, Second-Class Order of Merlin Recipient, and the Young Wizard known as the Dragon Knight—how could he possibly be content with being a caged Owl teased by a group of young witches?
So, Ivan naturally fought back with all his might, using his Owl form to engage in a fierce chase with a group of young witches in the Hufflepuff Girls' Dormitory. It took great effort for him to finally escape.
However, admitting this was out of the question, absolutely impossible.
Otherwise, strange rumors would definitely spread around the school tomorrow.
So, Ivan feigned calmness and shook his head, claiming he had never seen such a peculiar Owl.
Professor Mcgonagall gave Ivan a suspicious look.
She had only recently taught Ivan the Animagus Transformation spell, and now, just over a month later, there were rumors of a strange Owl.
Upon hearing this news, Mcgonagall immediately suspected Ivan,
but it was just a guess, and she couldn't confirm it.
After all, the most critical step in the formation of the Animagus potion was waiting for a sufficiently large Thunderstorm!
And in the past few months, Hogwarts hadn't experienced a single Thunderstorm, so theoretically, Ivan shouldn't have been able to master the Animagus transformation at this time.
Ivan was well aware of this, so he wasn't panicked. After thinking for a moment, he spoke again.
"Professor, you're not suspecting that my Owl, Macaw, has run away, are you? It has been quietly staying in the dormitory for days, not going out once. Harry, Hermione, and Ron can vouch for that."
"Is that so? I hope it's true", Mcgonagall raised an eyebrow, tidied up her teaching materials, and left the classroom.
Once Professor Mcgonagall was gone, Ivan breathed a sigh of relief.
He was grateful that he had already progressed the exploration mission to over seventy percent, so he wouldn't need to use his Animagus form for the time being.
Otherwise, Ivan was genuinely worried about being caught by Professor Mcgonagall while sneaking into the Girls' Dormitory to explore.
Thinking about that scenario, Ivan shuddered involuntarily.
After composing himself, Ivan walked out of the classroom door, where Hermione, Harry, and Ron were already waiting.
"Ivan, what did Professor Mcgonagall want with you? She seemed to be frowning when she left", Hermione asked curiously.
"Maybe she's not satisfied with my study progress?" Ivan didn't want to bring up his dark history, so he gave a casual explanation.
Harry and Ron were speechless. They knew how skilled Ivan was in Transfiguration, so how could Professor Mcgonagall be unsatisfied?
"Professor is being too strict with you", Hermione couldn't help but say.
"It's not that bad, really", Ivan scratched his head. He had just said that off the cuff and quickly changed the subject.
"Let's hurry to the Quidditch pitch. It's the last day of practice today."
The four of them made their way to the training field, where George, Angelina, and a few others were already waiting. Wood was holding a long package.
Seeing Ivan, Wood handed the package over.
"What's this? For me?" Ivan took it and opened the bag.
Inside was a brand new broom, its redwood shaft inscribed with the words Nimbus 2001, gleaming in the sunlight.
"Nimbus 2001? Who bought it?" Ivan asked, surprised.
"Of course, Professor Mcgonagall!" A smile spread across Wood's face as he continued to explain.
"I told Professor Mcgonagall about getting seven Nimbus 2001s for the Slytherin Team, and mentioned you, our new flying prodigy. So, she might think it's necessary to boost the Gryffindor Team's chances of winning."
Ivan looked rather peculiar. He hadn't expected Wood to be so crafty, getting Professor Mcgonagall to help him get a new broom.
Thinking about how he had just managed to fool Professor Mcgonagall, and now he was going to use the broom she bought, Ivan felt a bit strange about it.
"Hals, give it a try. Since we still have time today, get familiar with it quickly", Wood said.
On Saturday morning, Ivan, who had trained late into the night, was woken up early by Harry.
Remembering the Quidditch match today, Ivan hurried to the Great Hall for a quick breakfast, then rushed to the Quidditch pitch.
Despite the match not starting until eleven, the stands of the four houses were already packed with young witches and wizards eager to watch.
Ivan couldn't help but marvel at the charm of Quidditch in the magical world. It seemed that most of the students at Hogwarts were here.
Ivan entered the changing room and put on the gold and red team uniform. Wood then gave his usual pre-match pep talk.
"This time we're facing Slytherin. Don't let your guard down just because we beat them in practice. The seven Nimbus 2001s give them a significant speed advantage, and they've likely come up with a way to counter Hals."
"They'll be in for a surprise, because Ivan isn't just a Beater this time!" George interrupted with a grin.
Wood's face broke into a smile, but he still sternly warned everyone to give it their all, showing the Slytherins that good brooms alone don't win games.
After going over the new tactics again, it was almost eleven.
Just before they were about to go on the pitch, Ivan remembered that in the original story, Harry was knocked off his broom by a rogue Bludger. He spoke up to remind everyone.
"George, keep an eye on Harry. Make sure he doesn't get targeted."
"Harry? What do you mean? Why are you saying that?" George asked, puzzled.
"I'm worried those Slytherins might cheat. Just be careful", Ivan said vaguely. He couldn't possibly tell them that a house-elf named Dobby would control the Bludger to attack Harry, could he?
Besides, whether that would happen was uncertain.
After all, these days Hogwarts was very peaceful, with no Chamber of Secrets or Slytherin's heir.
This made Ivan feel that getting his hands on Tom Riddle's diary was indeed a wise choice. Otherwise, he would be constantly worrying about Basilisk attacks.
"Alright, I'll keep an eye on Harry." George nodded casually, patting his chest.
While he didn't fully believe that the Slytherins would dare to pull any tricks during a Quidditch match, he would be more vigilant since Ivan had said so.
Ivan nodded, feeling that something was likely to happen during this Quidditch match.
At that moment, the doors leading to the pitch opened, and Ivan had to focus, mounting his Nimbus 2001 and flying out.
