Chapter 2: Unenlightened Divine Wind Murderous Sword
Chapter 2: Unenlightened Divine Wind Murderous Sword
Kolmo swung his axe again, but Kuro 'slipped' just the same way, flying backward as the blade naturally impaled a pirate's body.
The cycle continued as Kuro charged forward once more.
Kolmo's fury boiled—how could this Navy brat have such absurd luck? Three consecutive dodges from his attacks?
"This time, I'll split you in half!"
He altered his strike's trajectory, abandoning the vertical slash for a full horizontal swing of his massive axe.
Kuro's eyes narrowed, a sharp glint flashing from his pupils.
"Eye Sword."
Kolmo stiffened, instinctively clutching his chest. A bone-deep chill seized him. His legs buckled, and the axe slipped from his grasp, its handle striking Kuro mid-fall. Kuro soared backward once more.
"Agh!"
Another pirate clutched his chest and collapsed.
Kuro yanked his cutlass from the corpse, his expression hardening. "Pirates—I will never yield!"
"How infuriating!"
Kolmo scrambled up, his face flushed with rage.
He abandoned his axe, arms wide, charging straight at Kuro.
Kuro flew again, 'accidentally' taking out yet another pirate.
Kolmo nearly lost his mind. No matter how he attacked, this Navy officer always 'flew' away.
Even when he caught Kuro, a piercing coldness would stab his chest like a sword, sending him crashing down while Kuro still ended up airborne.
Back and forth, the battle raged. Pirates who should have dominated now lay sprawled across the deck, most of them down for the count.
Kuro rose from the ground, wrenching his cutlass from a pirate's corpse. Pale-faced and panting, his body trembled from internal injuries.
"Sergeant!"
Sergeant Kas rushed forward, his heart aching. Though Kuro bore no visible wounds, each labored breath and suppressed cough betrayed his severe internal damage.
Even so… even so…
The Navy would never surrender to pirates!
"Justice Prevails! We don't yield to pirates, huh!!!"
Kas' eyes welled with tears as he roared, charging a pirate and cutting him down in a single stroke.
"Kill them!!!"
Navy morale surged. Every 'pitiful' collision of Kuro's battered body with pirates coincidentally impaled another foe. The remaining pirates, now desperately outnumbered, were crushed under the Navy's counterattack, fleeing in disarray.
"Damn, damn!"
Kolmo trembled with rage. From the start of this fight, nothing had gone his way!
Initially unaware, he now sensed the bizarre truth—though his fists and axe struck true, it felt like hitting air. Yet Kuro still flew backward, visibly injured.
Kuro's face twisted with feigned fury, his mind secretly grinning. "Perfect. Now the Navy overwhelms Kolmo together! Three hundred exchanges of combat, ending with his capture. Not my effort alone—credit belongs to the Navy. No scrutiny on me!"
"I'm truly angry now."
As Kuro prepared to rally his men, Kolmo's voice dropped to a guttural growl. He hunched, his form swelling as golden scales erupted across his back. His hands became claws, his skull elongating into a reptilian snout.
A half-toned lizardman.
Pock-pock-pock!
Gunfire ricocheted off Kolmo's armored back, sparking.
"Monster!" Some Navy men screamed, terror-stricken.
Kuro's horror this time was undeniably real.
A Devil Fruit ability?! Why?!
"Damn the Navy Evaluation Squad! How did a six-million-Belly bounty slip through?! ZF isn't broke—why not raise it to sixty million and send him to die in the Grand Line!" Kuro raged inwardly.
"Hehehehe!" Kolmo cackled, "I've eaten the Lizard Fruit, becoming a lizardman! I never wanted to use this power, but you've all enraged me—especially you!"
He pointed at Kuro, roaring, "I'll tear you apart alive!"
"Never! Sergeant Kas will protect you with my life!"
Sergeant Kas stepped before Kuro, shouting.
Don't want this bearded idiot protecting me. Swap him for a cute girl.
Kuro forced a twitch at the corner of his mouth.
"Starting with you!"
Whoosh!
Kolmo blurred through the Navy ranks, claws slashing at Kas. Normal men couldn't react.
Kas only moved as Kolmo's claws reached his face—surely fatal.
Bang!
A sudden force shoved Kas sideways.
Kuro kicked Kas away, his fingers slicing across his cutlass in a whisper:
"Unenlightened Divine Wind Murderous Sword."
Swish!
He twisted, the blade grazing Kolmo's waist as he spun behind him.
"Shen."
Amid the storm, Kolmo felt a faint breeze. He absently patted his waist—nothing amiss—before snarling, "Lucky dodge! See if you escape this!"
"Protect Sergeant!"
Sergeant Kas charged, leaping to slash Kolmo's arm reaching for Kuro.
"Useless!"
Hiss!
Kolmo's voice barely faded before blood erupted from his arm, splattering the deck. Rain washed it away.
Kolmo stared at his bleeding limb, then at Kas' stunned face.
"You—"
"Kill!!!"
The Navy surged. A soldier stabbed Kolmo's back—an armor-piercing strike. Blood erupted as the impact sent Kolmo lurching forward.
Another Navy fighter slashed, carving a crimson arc.
This monster was vulnerable—they could kill him!
The realization ignited their frenzy.
Kolmo staggered like a candle in wind, his towering form bleeding from a dozen wounds. The slashes seemed to explode from within, not cut from without.
Confusion consumed him.
His first transformation against Navy. His first fear of being hurt.
Twice the joy of power, doubled—this double ecstasy promised endless delight.
This double ecstasy promised endless delight.
The bliss of slaughtering Navy and seizing their ship…
Why had it twisted so wrong?!
"That Navy officer!"
In chaos, Kolmo recalled Kuro's waist-grazing strike.
He turned—Kuro sheathed his cutlass, smiling faintly at Kolmo surrounded by Navy.
The words were barely audible, yet Kolmo read Kuro's lips:
"Did you hear it?"
Bang!
Gunfire cracked.
The bullet neared Kolmo's head.
Boom!!!
A crater exploded in Kolmo's skull. His giant frame collapsed like a felled tree, eyes fixed on Kuro in fading disbelief.
"The Divine Wind's gentle whisper."
The blade slid home.
