Chapter 198: Unexpected Discoveries
After the start of the term, the professors' inspections of the library and night walks became more relaxed, as they had many essays to grade, leaving them with little time for patrols at night.
That night, Kyle, who had been well-behaved for two weeks, eagerly opened the library doors with the Marauder's Map in hand.
The new bookshelves in the box were already set up, and they couldn't remain empty forever. Kyle planned to fill them up within the remaining half-term, a challenging task indeed.
Although this task seemed daunting, as long as he slept a little less each day and worked diligently, it should be achievable.
Kyle arrived at the Restricted Section with his wand, a path he knew like the back of his hand.
However, this time, he didn't randomly pick books from the shelves as he usually did. Instead, he carefully examined each book's title, only taking those he needed and setting them aside.
After more than half an hour, Kyle had collected three books, all related to basilisks.

Kyle held the last book, a thick one with a black cover, similar to a notebook. He wondered how this oddity had ended up in the Restricted Section.
Nevertheless, Newt and Hagrid would probably love this book. Kyle decided to copy it down now and give it to them as a Christmas gift next year.
Since it had been a while since his last night walk in the library, and he had quite a few books to read, Kyle stayed there until dawn.
In the following days, Kyle returned to the busy state he had been in before the break.
Quidditch training resumed, and thankfully, Harris wasn't as strict as other team coaches. Even with the match approaching, they still maintained their usual three training sessions per week.
However, things were different for Gryffindor. Wood had become almost maniacal in his training, conducting sessions almost daily in the afternoon.
Even after the heavy rain and continuous gloomy weather, Kyle could still see them practicing on the Quidditch Stadium.
Fred and George often complained that Wood was becoming a training fanatic, disregarding their well-being.
Fred even mentioned that if things continued this way, they might all end up in the hospital wing before the match even started.
However, Kyle had his suspicions that they were playing a sympathy card, as the next match was between Hufflepuff and Gryffindor.
Apart from Quidditch training, Kyle would also visit Hagrid's Hut during the weekends.
Ever since Hagrid started paying attention to the magical creatures in the Forbidden Forest, his hut always had something new to offer.
"Here you go, Kyle, unicorn tail hair."
Hagrid poured Kyle a cup of tea and handed him a small bag, "I remember you liking these. I collected some for you, all naturally shed."
Kyle took the bag and peeked inside... There were over a dozen long, silver tail hairs, each in perfect condition.
"So many..." Kyle exclaimed, "Did you collect all these recently?"
Unicorns didn't shed their hair as frequently as Bowtail Dogs, especially their tail hair. Without wizard intervention, it would take about half a year for a single hair to fall.
It was surprising that Hagrid had gathered so many in just a few weeks. Kyle wondered if there was a unicorn herd in the Forbidden Forest.
