Chapter 197: The Meowth Boss and Pichu
Chapter 197: The Meowth Boss and Pichu
The four-day paid trip came to an end.
After bidding farewell to Cynthia, Jing He returned to the Hoenn region on Devon Corporation's private plane.
Cynthia, however, had to return to Unova with Caitlin as their exploration of the ruins was not yet complete.
Technically, their trip to Ecruteak City’s festival was more of a quick getaway.
But they did accomplish something significant—saving the World Tree and setting up a joyous room for the legendary Mew.
Back at the cafe in Hoenn, the Rocket Trio, led by their temporary leader, Indeedee, was already waiting at the entrance to welcome them.
“D-D-Dry! Meow!”
Before Butch could finish his sentence, Cassidy and Meowth quickly silenced him.
Then, they shouted in unison:
“Teacher Jing He, President Gengar, welcome back! You’ve worked hard (Meow)!”
“Sooo~ Nanji! ∠(°ゝ°)”
Indeedee, wearing overalls and a bear hat, saluted and chimed in.
Seeing the Rocket Trio, Jing He realized he had almost forgotten about them.
Is everything at home okay?
He glanced at the cafe and house behind them, relieved to see everything was intact.
“Gengar~”
Gengar, now wearing sunglasses, stood with his hands behind his back, exuding a confident air.
“Teacher Jing He, as you instructed, I’ve been researching some new desserts. Please take a look,” Cassidy eagerly offered.
Butch, not to be outdone, quickly brought over a cup of coffee. “Teacher Jing He, here’s your coffee!”
“And the accounts, Meow! Here’s the revenue for the past few days, Meow!” Meowth added.
“Hmm, not bad,” Jing He nodded in approval.
The Rocket Trio’s faces lit up with joy.
They started to fantasize.
Could it be their turn to be the temporary leader?
“Deduct 500.”
The Rocket Trio: (╯ ̄Д ̄)╯╘═╛ (In their fantasies)
The Rocket Trio: (╥_╥) (Such a hateful feeling—)
“Yes—”
Just as Jing He sat down, Indeedee approached from behind and began massaging his shoulders with a grin.
“Sooo~ Nanji~~”
Jing He smiled. “Indeedee, you’ve done a great job managing things.”
“S-Soo~ Nanji! o(////▽////)q”
“Then I won’t deduct the money for the mistake.”
“Long live Teacher Jing He!” ×3
Looking at the revenue Meowth had brought, Jing He was pleased.
Indeed.
As long as the Rocket Trio wasn’t trying to catch Pikachu, they were top-notch in whatever they did.
But running a cafe seemed a bit of a waste of their talents.
What else could they do?
Jing He wasn’t sure.
And without hearing that “hateful feeling,” it felt like something was missing.
Oh well.
Maybe he’ll figure it out later.
A week later.
The warm sunlight of late autumn was perfect for airing out the bedding.
After being away for a few days, Jing He thought it was time to air out the blankets that often froze solid from his Ice Tail’s cold.
Jing He didn’t waste money on a dryer, so he and Gengar set up a temporary clothesline in the yard to hang the blankets.
In the courtyard, the once lush green lawn had turned slightly yellow, with a few orange flowers adding a touch of life.
“This is going to be a tough winter.”
Jing He sighed, gently beating the blankets with a bamboo stick.
“Gengar!”
Gengar gave him a thumbs up, assuring him it would be fine.
Even as a ghost, it would stay by his side.
Jing He rolled his eyes.
“Without a Fire-type Pokemon to keep warm, it looks like I’ll have to exercise more?”
He didn’t want to be the first trainer to freeze to death because of his own Pokemon.
“Chu”
Kovar, carrying its immeasurably heavy hammer, was doing one-handed push-ups in the yard.
Thanks to Zephyr’s martial arts insights, Kovar had a deeper understanding of how to build its muscles.
This made Jing He feel that his potential ways of dying might not be limited to freezing, being stomped, or strangled. Being a trainer is indeed a high-risk profession.
At the same time, he secretly felt relieved.
Thankfully, there were no Steel-type bird Pokemon flying overhead.
Otherwise, with Iron Throats' current strength, whether it was Armor Bird or Steelix, they would all come and never leave.
Why can't the Steelix taxi service, which is popular in the Galar region, be implemented in the Paldea region?
The reason is simple: the Paldea region is home to many Gigantamax Steelix.
"Chirp, chirp."
2020, 2021, 2022
Iron Throats counted as it did push-ups.
Its goal was to do five thousand push-ups a day.
But the key issue was that every time it got close to three thousand, it would lose count!
So it never felt like it had successfully completed five thousand in a day.
However, according to Jing He's incomplete statistics, it had to restart four to five times a day.
Minidragon rolled around in the pond in the garden.
This was a newly dug pond.
After all, only being able to swim in the bathtub inside the house was indeed a bit limiting.
It was clear that it really liked this pond.
But for a prestigious Mini Dragon, frequently choking on water was a bit embarrassing.
Still, it was better than practicing "Dragon Dive" at home.
After all,
Do you think the pond in the yard just appeared out of nowhere?
The one who gave Jing He the least trouble was Ice Six Tail.
Right now,
Having finally learned the technique of "Aurora Veil" from Little Mew, she was practicing alone in a corner.
The reason the snow didn't affect the entire yard was that she had used "Aurora Veil" to create a barrier around herself, completely enclosing herself.
It was airtight.
Because
Layer after layer, Jing He couldn't even count how many "Aurora Veil" barriers Ice Six Tail had set up.
"Six Tail, are you stacking 'Heart of Steel'? Don't trap yourself in there," Jing He couldn't help but remind her.
However,
Her response was a closed mouth and a puzzled look.
Because she couldn't hear him at all!
But clearly, Jing He's concern was unnecessary.
Realizing she had set up too many "Aurora Veil" barriers, Ice Six Tail's tails glowed with a bright silver metallic light, as if coated in metal.
Iron Tail!
Bang, bang—
Her six tails smashed into the "Aurora Veil," breaking through one layer after another, searching for the weakest points in her own barriers.
Jing He: "."
What Pokemon sets up its own "Aurora Veil" and then smashes it?
This was related to her new hobby.
Having just learned "Iron Tail," she had lost in a "Iron Tail" contest to Cynthia's Eevee.
Jing He's eye twitched.
"I feel like none of my Pokemon are normal."
"Gengar?"
Gengar's "pure" eyes blinked.
What about me?
Jing He glanced at it, then turned to look at the door to the backyard, where two rows of wild Pokemon stood neatly.
"Can you make them disperse?"
Awo.
Gengar went to the door and waved at the Pokemon outside.
"Gengar~~"
After a rustling sound,
There was no sign of any Rattata, Meowth, or other Pokemon.
Seeing Gengar put on sunglasses and exude a bit of a boss vibe, Jing He took a deep breath.
It really has developed a "gang"!
When did things start going wrong?
Jing He made up his mind.
If he ever caught another Pokemon, he would have to be extremely careful to ensure it was "reliable."
Resource consumption was secondary.
"Really don't want to end up being invited for tea by Officer Jenny."
"Ms. Karen, I'm sorry to disturb you."
Sitting in a rocking chair, Jing He called Karen.
"Why do you have time to call me?"
The phone transmitted Karen's gentle laughter.
"Because I've written another script and want you to help me look it over," Jing He smiled.
"I've already sent it to your phone."
"Sure," Karin responded immediately. "I just wrapped up a scene, so I’ll take a look right away."
"Thanks a lot."
After hanging up, Jing He patiently waited.
This time, he had sent a low-budget, two-character comedy short.
"Boss Meowth and Pichu"
Originally, he intended to write "Meowth and Pikachu." However, considering the uncertain size difference between Meowth and Pikachu and Meowth’s relatively high and elegant demeanor, which made it unsuitable for a comedic role, he opted for the bipedal Boss Meowth.
As for the Pichu character, he chose the smaller Pichu to create a contrast with Boss Meowth—strong versus weak, fierce versus cute.
"To raise you all, I really have to rack my brain."
Jing He looked at the four little ones again.
Gengar, of course, was a bottomless pit, even surpassing the appetite of Cubone.
Ice Tail's small "Ice Stone" was finished, and it was currently surviving on fragments of Regice’s ice, but that wouldn’t last long. The high-quality "Ice Stone" needed for its evolution was still a long way off.
Although he didn’t know if the little one wanted to evolve, providing it was his responsibility as a Trainer.
As for Forger, who knew how much precious metal it would need to be satisfied?
And as for Minidragon, Jing He felt it was close to evolving. Once it became Dragonair, the resources required would multiply, and as a "little move master," learning new moves would also be costly.
"Money, money, money."
Actually, ordinary Trainers didn’t need so many resources to raise Pokemon. But who were Jing He’s friends?
Cynthia, Steven, Lance, and even Dove and Asha.
With such high standards, he didn’t want to use ordinary materials for the little ones; it would feel like he was letting them down.
Gengar quietly sneaked up behind Jing He. Seeing him deep in thought, it let out a mischievous laugh and extended its tongue.
However, Jing He, having awakened the "Aura Power," predicted and dodged the attack.
"Gengar! (ˇˇ)"
Gengar’s face was one of "despair."
You’ve changed!
Undeterred, it tried again.
Jing He sighed inwardly and didn’t dodge this time.
He was thoroughly licked.
"Gengar~ Gengar~!"
Gengar immediately placed its hands on its hips, laughing contentedly.
You’re no good either!
Jing He gave it a scolding glance, took out a "Cheri Berry," and pressed the answer button on his phone.
"Jing He, that’s a great script!"
Karin’s voice was filled with excitement, and she quickly added:
"I can’t wait to see the cute daily life of the cat and the mouse."
"This will definitely be a more popular short series than 'The Adventures of Foamy Squirrel!'"
"And the budget will be much lower than the previous scripts."
Jing He smiled and said:
"Bringing a bit of joy to people and Pokemon in their ordinary days is enough."
There was a brief silence on the other end of the line.
"Sorry, Jing He, I underestimated you."
"Hmm?"
"You’re trying to heal more wounded little hearts through this, right?"
"After all, no matter how capable you are, you can only heal one at a time, but through a TV series, you can reach many more."
Truly, a master of the mind.
Karin’s voice carried a hint of admiration.
Jing He: "??"
No, it could be understood that way?
But getting the approval of an expert gave him confidence.
Now, he needed to decide whether to use real Pokemon for on-location shooting or to hire a manga artist to create an animated series. Since this was the Pokemon world, Jing He was more inclined toward the former, even though it would require a much larger budget.
