Chapter 196: Character Key and Clues
Chapter 196: Character Key and Clues
Ivan rolled his eyes. While he didn't understand why Luna found her airship so beautiful, it was clear she wasn't taking it for that reason. Hoping she would return it was like dreaming.
But he was currently an owl and couldn't use the Summoning Charm to help Luna.
[Ding, explored Ravenclaw Girls' Dormitory]
The System's notification echoed in his mind, and Ivan's expression froze. This meant he should leave.
"Thank you for showing me around here. I think I should be leaving now." Ivan flapped his wings and flew into the air, speaking aloud.
"Why are you leaving?" Luna's pale eyes curiously examined him, making Ivan feel somewhat uneasy.
Just as Ivan wondered if he had been exposed, the young witch spoke in her ethereal voice.
"That won't do. You haven't delivered my letter yet."
Deliver a letter?
Ivan rolled his eyes, remembering he had told Luna he was delivering a letter on behalf of her father's owl. He didn't have the time to actually be a mail owl.
As Ivan struggled to find a way to refuse, a grayish-white owl wobbled in through the open window.
Ivan's expression suddenly froze, feeling somewhat guilty because it was the owl he had knocked out earlier.
The grayish-white owl trembled upon seeing Ivan, almost falling out of the sky in fright.
Only when it saw Luna did it excitedly flutter over, chirping incessantly.
"Is that so? The owl that looks like you stole your letter and knocked you out?" Luna's face showed surprise, but when she turned to look, Ivan was gone.
Walking to the window, Luna looked outside and saw the strange owl flying away.
Ivan soared through the air, turning to see Luna standing by the window and the protesting owl. He felt a wave of relief.
"Good thing I got away quickly!" Ivan muttered to himself, then changed direction and flew toward the Boys' Dormitory.
Using the cover of night, Ivan explored Hogwarts in his Animagus form, thoroughly exploring the Slytherin and Hufflepuff Common Rooms.
[Ding, explored Hufflepuff Common Room, Exploration Progress of Hogwarts: 71%. Claim reward?]
After another round of exploration, Ivan finally completed the task he had been eagerly anticipating.
"Claim reward!" Ivan said aloud.
In the next moment, a series of strange characters suddenly appeared in Ivan's mind.
These characters were extremely bizarre, unlike any language he recognized, and not quite like ancient runes. Most importantly, the System's hint left Ivan utterly confused.
"Characters are the key!" Ivan murmured the information the System had fed into his mind.
Even so, Ivan had no idea what it meant. The hint was too vague.
What did that mean?
How could a string of characters be a key?
If there's a key, where is the "door"?
Ivan was frustrated. A thought struck him, and he recalled the Bloodline Mystery Quest. Opening the System panel, he found the Quest progress had changed.
[Quest: Bloodline Mystery
Quest Objective: Find a method to fuse multiple bloodlines
Current Quest Progress: 15%
Quest Reward: Legendary Points * 1
]
"Progress increased by ten percent?" Ivan was momentarily stunned. It seemed his previous guess was correct; completing exploration Quests was indeed a breakthrough.
If he could figure out the meaning of this string of characters, he might find a way to fuse multiple bloodlines.
With that thought, Ivan decided to head to the Library to look up books on ancient scripts, hoping to decipher these characters.
As for continuing to push the exploration of Hogwarts to one hundred percent to gain more information?
Ivan had no such intention. Hogwarts was too large and too mysterious. He had already explored all the places he could, yet he had only managed to push the Quest progress to 71%.
Ivan felt that even if he stayed for seven school years, he might not fully understand the castle.
A few days passed in a flash.
While Ivan was immersed in the Library, researching the meaning of the characters, Wood resumed Quidditch training, calling all team members to the Quidditch pitch for evening practice.
Considering the potential Academic Points and Legendary Points, Ivan had to set aside some time to continue practicing his flying skills.
After an afternoon of training, Ivan was just about to return to the dormitory to shower and rest when he was pulled aside by the sneaky George and Fred.
"What's up?" Ivan looked at the two and asked curiously.
"Remember when we talked about asking you to be our special consultant last semester?" George said mysteriously.
"Of course", Ivan nodded, then, as if remembering something, he asked in surprise. "Is your Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes going to open officially?"
"Right!" George and Fred said in unison.
"We found a suitable place, perfect as our base", George said happily, and Fred added, "So we want to invite you to check it out."
They discovered the Room of Requirement? Ivan thought immediately, but when he followed the two to their secret base, he realized it wasn't the case.
It was just an old, abandoned Storage Room, about the size of a classroom, filled with various items used for making Magical Items.
George proudly showed Ivan around the room, explaining as he went.
"We found this place by accident. We've been watching it for a while, and it hasn't been used in a long time, so we cleaned it up and set it up as a testing ground and base for Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes!"
"It looks pretty good", Ivan nodded, looking at the half-finished joke items on the table.
Fred excitedly pointed out two new items to Ivan.
"This is the Decoy Detonator. Once thrown, it will dart around, creating chaos perfectly!"
"That one is the Multi-Exploder Firework, one of our masterpieces!"
"Thanks to the ideas you gave us during the summer and the 200 Galleons for research funds, we were able to create so many interesting things", Fred said with a smile.
