Chapter 195: Your Owl Fell on the Way and Can't Come!
Chapter 195: Your Owl Fell on the Way and Can't Come!
Luna's odd words left the Ravenclaw girl at a loss, muttering a few "crazy girl" under her breath before angrily searching for her hairpin.
Ivan had already placed the hairpin on the marble bust of Rowena Ravenclaw. Without using the Accio Charm, it would take some effort to retrieve it.
This was a small test of intelligence, and he believed a qualified Ravenclaw would surely find a way to get it down.
The reason he decided to help Luna on the spur of the moment was that he had just injured her Owl, and he felt a bit guilty about it.
After completing this, Ivan carried the newspaper in his beak and flew to Luna, completing his task of delivering the newspaper.
"Thank you!" Luna sincerely thanked him, then looked at The Quibbler in Ivan's beak and asked curiously, "Why are you delivering the newspaper? Where is my dad's Owl?"
Although the Owl in front of her was also grayish-white and similar in size to her father's, Luna recognized it at a glance.
"It fell on the way and couldn't come, so I'm helping it deliver the message", Ivan muttered, not expecting her to understand.
To his surprise, Luna's face showed a look of astonishment, and she murmured, "Owls can fall? I've never heard of that before."
"Can you understand Owl Language?" Ivan looked at the young witch in shock.
How is that possible?
"No, I don't understand it", Luna shook her head, and the cork hanging around her neck swayed with her movements.
Ivan was completely baffled, unable to fathom the thoughts of this young witch. If she couldn't understand, how did she know what I was saying?
At that moment, Luna reached out and took The Quibbler from Ivan's beak. She had been waiting for this latest issue for a long time and immediately flipped it open.
After completing his delivery, Ivan planned to fly away and find a window that was left open, to go for a stroll. However, his gaze accidentally fell on the front-page headline of The Quibbler, and he stopped in his tracks.
The headline shocked him to the core:
Potion Genius Ivan Hals Doesn't Actually Exist!
What? I don't exist?
Ivan's face darkened as he moved closer with his little claws, wanting to see what was written.
Luna didn't mind another animal reading the newspaper and generously laid The Quibbler flat.
This made it easier for Ivan to read. After a careful look, he was speechless.
The article was filled with conspiracy theories, likely edited by someone with a vivid imagination.
It claimed that Ivan Hals, the so-called Potion genius, was probably a facade created by the Ministry of Magic to ease the Werewolf conflict, and the Wolfsbane Potion didn't actually exist.
The reasoning was that a young Wizard of eleven or twelve couldn't possibly have developed the Wolfsbane Potion.
Ivan was speechless. He had sold countless bottles of Wolfsbane Potion, and his nomination for the Order of Merlin had even been reported in the newspapers. Yet, there were still people who believed he was fabricated.
Besides, the Ministry of Magic wasn't idle enough to fabricate a Potion genius. What benefit would it bring them?
Ivan was mentally complaining when Luna's ethereal voice suddenly rang in his ear.
"But the Ministry of Magic always needs to find something to do, whether it’s meaningful or not, right?"
Ivan opened his mouth, but he hadn't said anything, nor had he sensed any magical fluctuations from a Legilimency spell. Could this young witch read the expression of an owl?
Luna didn’t reply to him this time. Instead, she looked at the newspaper and muttered to herself.
"Hmm, but this news is definitely wrong. I saw Ivan-Hals at the opening ceremony. I’ll write a letter and send it back."
With that, Luna stood up, folded the newspaper, and headed towards the dormitory.
Ivan flapped his wings and followed her. He needed to take a look around her dormitory, so he landed on Luna’s shoulder, ready to hitch a ride.
Luna didn’t seem to mind at all. She even continued chatting with him about Nargles and Wrackspurts, discussing where these magical creatures might most likely appear.
This exchange between the girl and the owl drew curious glances from many of the Ravenclaws, who couldn’t help but look on with interest.
If anyone else had done this, the clever Ravenclaws might have suspected something was amiss.
But Luna was known for her eccentric style and belief in strange, non-existent creatures, which had already made her somewhat famous among the Ravenclaws.
Some even wondered if the Sorting Hat had made a mistake by placing her in Ravenclaw.
Several Ravenclaw girls sighed, agreeing that Luna truly lived up to her reputation as a "loony", chatting with an owl like it was a normal conversation.
This was why Ivan felt comfortable chatting with Luna. With this cover, who could tell what was real?
The Ravenclaw dormitory was located next to the large Ravenclaw statue, the same place where he had placed the hair clip earlier.
When they arrived, Ivan realized that the hair clip, which he had placed on the statue’s head, was already gone. It seemed that Luna had taken it.
Not bad, Ravenclaw, Ivan thought, feeling that he had underestimated the young witch.
Luna didn’t pay any attention to this. She walked straight down the corridor to her dormitory door and led Ivan inside.
Ivan had been in the girls’ dormitory before, but the style here was clearly different from the Gryffindor Girls' Dormitory. The room was fresh and elegant, with neatly arranged books and study notes on the tables.
One bed in the corner, however, stood out. It was decorated with all sorts of peculiar ornaments, including carved radishes and a string of wooden stoppers hanging from the bed frame.
"Strange, where’s my Dirigible Plum? I remember putting it here", Luna said, surprised, looking at an empty basin by her bed.
"Maybe someone took it and hid it?" Ivan thought for a moment and suggested.
He remembered that in the original timeline, many people enjoyed playing pranks on Luna because of her strange behavior, often hiding or throwing away her belongings.
This time was probably no different.
Luna quickly thought of the Ravenclaw girl from earlier, but she didn’t seem angry. Instead, she said with a sigh.
"Then she must have thought the Dirigible Plum was pretty. She’ll probably return it after she’s done playing with it."
