Chapter 195: The Way to the Headmaster's Office
Chapter 195: The Way to the Headmaster's Office
The vacation time seemed to fly by, just like the dog food Kyle fed to Roy. In the blink of an eye, it was almost time for school to start again.
Kyle felt like he had only flipped through a few books about Basilisks in the library, but when he looked up, he realized that there were only a few days left before the new term began.
On the morning of the third day before school started, Fred and George rushed to find him, brimming with excitement.
"Kyle, I have some great news!" Fred said, unable to contain his smile. "We've found the final clue to the password for the Marauder's Map!"
"So... there really is a complete password hidden in the castle?" Kyle asked, surprised.
Like Cedric, he had always thought that the last word of the password didn't exist at all.
After all, if he were one of the Marauders, he wouldn't have left the complete password behind.
There should always be some mystery left, and it would be boring to reveal everything. Moreover, the previous words were already quite obvious, and if someone couldn't guess the full password from those clues, it would only prove that they didn't have the right connection with the map.
No one would ever guess that the password was "I solemnly swear that I am up to no good."
Additionally, if someone like Fred and George was too obsessed with finding the complete password, the hidden last word would become the perfect prank.
Those who frequently broke the school rules couldn't be too rule-abiding.
Before Fred and George found the password, Kyle thought he had guessed it correctly.
"You'll never guess where it is," George said eagerly. "It's right above the railing next to the school gate. Anyone passing by can see it if they just look up."
"We should have thought of it earlier," Fred said with a hint of annoyance. "Every graduate leaves Hogwarts through the school gate, so it symbolizes both the beginning and the end."
"Why didn't we think of it before..."
"How did you discover it?" Kyle asked.
George shrugged. "We were planning to explore the Forbidden Forest, but Hagrid chased us out. So, we decided to go to Hogsmeade, but it was too early, and many shops were still closed."
"We couldn't take the shortcut through the secret passage, so we had to return the way we came."
"As we passed through the school gate, we saw the words right away."
George suddenly sighed. "We shouldn't have always returned to school through the secret passage after going to Hogsmeade."
"But speaking of secret passages..."
Fred seemed to have an idea. He patted Kyle on the shoulder and said quietly, "After finding the complete password, we discovered two more secret passages."
"One is on the fourth floor, behind the statue of the hunchbacked one-eyed witch. Her hunchback is the entrance."
"The other one is more hidden..." Fred said mysteriously. "Want to guess where it is?"
"Hmm... behind the bookshelf in the Headmaster's Office?" Kyle stroked his chin thoughtfully. "If that's the case, I bet the exit is in the lounge of some shop in Hogsmeade. Maybe it's in the Three Broomsticks or Padfoot's Tea Shop..."
Fred and George were left speechless.
Not because Kyle had guessed correctly, but because there were no secret passages in the Headmaster's Office at all.
However, Kyle's words sparked their curiosity.
Imagine, the greatest Headmaster in Hogwarts history secretly having an unknown connection with a shop owner... That was incredibly exciting.
Who doesn't love discussing the latest gossip about the Headmaster? Fred and George eagerly joined the conversation, analyzing from various angles the potential location of the secret passage, if it indeed existed. They concluded that any of the shops in Hogsmeade could be the exit.
Not even the Grog Pub was exempt from their speculation.
"That old goat would've been chased away by others long ago if he didn't have Dumbledore's support," Fred asserted confidently.
Over the years, they had become quite familiar with Hogsmeade, and many shop owners had privately complained that the chaotic Grog Pub was dragging down the village's reputation, preventing it from being awarded the 'Annual Most Worthwhile Wizarding Village' for over a decade.
"Unfortunately, there's no secret passage leading to the Headmaster's Office on the Marauder's Map," Fred said regretfully. "And we only know it's on the eighth floor, but we've never entered, not even once."
"After all, it's one of Hogwarts' most mysterious places," George added, shaking his head. "Even the senior students who created the Marauder's Map probably rarely get to go there, let alone search for secret passages within."
"I wish we could take a look, even for just a few minutes..." Fred mused.
"You want to enter the Headmaster's Office?" Kyle suggested after some thought. "That's easy."
Fred and George's eyes lit up, and they excitedly put their arms around Kyle's shoulders.
"Kyle, we knew you'd have a way! Tell us!"

"If you can get us into the Headmaster's Office successfully, Fred and I will be your most loyal followers from now on!"
"We'll reserve seats for you..."
"Provide food delivery service..."
"And eliminate anyone who opposes you."
"But we can't afford to lose points or get detention," they added.
"Don't worry, that won't happen," Kyle assured them. "You just need to earn a Special Contribution to School Award, and you'll also receive a hundred points as a bonus."
Fred and George's smiles froze, and they stared at Kyle in disbelief, as if they were looking at a Three-Headed Dog performing tap dancing.
In fact, Fred and George would rather search for a tap-dancing Three-Headed Dog than earn the Special Contribution to School Award.
At least there was a chance of finding one.
"If you think it's too much trouble..." Kyle continued, seeing their expressions, "then the Merlin's Knight Medal will do. It should grant you two hundred points."
"Hmm..." George and Fred simultaneously made a dry sound and turned to leave.
"Hey, you haven't told us where the last secret passage is!" Kyle called out from behind.
But the twins ignored him and quickened their pace.
In fact, the last secret passage they mentioned was right beneath the Whomping Willow.
Initially, they had come to invite Kyle to explore the area and find a way to avoid the Whomping Willow. But now, they just wanted to find a place without Kyle and enjoy some peace and quiet.
As for the Merlin's Knight Medal, did he think it was just a stone by the roadside that anyone could pick up? If it were that easy, why didn't he have one himself?
