Chapter 195: The True Blood Deity Appears
Chapter 195: The True Blood Deity Appears
Liam rummaged through his spatial pocket and pulled out a metal frame over half a person's height, complete with a yellow gas cylinder. Then he fished out a projectile the size of an ostrich egg.
"If it weren't for being a Militia General, I wouldn't have gotten my hands on such good stuff. I wonder how effective this will be against Wizards?" Liam thought as he loaded the Fat Man Nuclear Bomb. He then shouldered the launcher and approached the secret door.
Taking a deep breath to steady his nerves, Liam opened the door and, before the enemy could react, fired the Fat Man Nuclear Bomb into the crowd. He quickly shut the door, hearing a few spells hit it before a massive explosion rocked the area. Even from a distance and behind the Magic-protected stone wall, Liam could feel a slight tremor.
The Magic attacks paused for only a couple of seconds before more spells struck the stone wall. But as the ten-second countdown ended, a few agonized screams echoed through the dimension, followed by an eerie silence.
Liam peered through the peephole and saw that the Doomsday Bell had tilted to one side, with the previously connected crimson beams now completely gone. The area beneath the platform, where people had stood, was now a pile of black ash. On the platform itself, four figures stood motionless, their faces deathly pale as if all the blood had drained from their bodies.
Liam cracked open the secret door and probed the platform with Life Magic, discovering that all four figures were dead.
"Holy shit, what kind of Magic is this?" Liam gasped. The situation was clear: the Wizards below had been killed by the close-range nuclear explosion. But the figures above had somehow survived the blast and launched an attack on Liam's position. However, they were instantly killed when the Pyramid's defensive Magic activated. This made the Blood Deity even more formidable than Liam had imagined.
Unsure if there were any other traps in the hall, Liam didn't dare to leave and collect loot. Instead, he called Hermione and together they passed through the golden door back to the main chamber. Unbeknownst to them, as they left, the remains in the hall slowly vanished, and everything returned to its original state, except for the Doomsday Bell, which remained tilted.
Before entering the main chamber, Liam discreetly held something in his left hand and hid it in his sleeve. As they entered, the figure on the throne stood up, straightening his back and exclaiming, "Very well, you have helped me clear the obstacles. The Blood Deity will once again rule this land, and I shall grant you the honor of eternal companionship by my side."
A powerful soul fluctuation swept from the throne, making Liam feel dizzy. Fortunately, with the Maoshan Technique and the chorus of souls in his Mind Sea, he managed to regain control of his body. Hermione, however, stood with vacant eyes, clearly under the Blood Deity's control.
"Ah, since the betrayal of the Blood God Cult, I haven't seen such fine specimens. You, come up here and let me have a good look", the old man on the throne commanded, pointing at Liam.
Liam embraced the concept of unity and emptiness, then feigned being controlled as he slowly walked to the front of the throne.
"Let me see..." The old man on the throne took out an obsidian tablet and had Liam hold it with his right hand. He then leaned down to examine the tablet as if analyzing something. But just as he placed his hand on the stone, a trap was triggered. A knife suddenly shot out from the obsidian tablet, aiming straight for his heart, forcing him to sidestep to avoid the blow.
But Liam did not anticipate that his left hand would emerge from his sleeve, clutching a jade talisman, and slam it directly onto the armrest of the throne. The jade talisman shattered, and massive bolts of lightning simultaneously blasted both of them away from the throne. As he was being thrown back, Liam saw that Little Qing, who had been hidden on Hermione, had formed a suit of armor around her and was already running out of the hall.
With no concerns about Hermione, Liam, clutching his blood-soaked left hand, just managed to stand up when he saw the old man lying motionless on the ground. The blood-red throne began to wriggle and eventually formed a humanoid figure made entirely of blood.
As he had suspected, the throne was the true form. The old man had described himself as too noble and righteous. How could someone who had brutally massacred a hundred thousand innocent humans, even his own daughter and wife, be a good person? Moreover, since he entered the Temple's grand hall, the figure had never left his throne, clearly indicating something was amiss. Now, his suspicions were confirmed.
So, it was time to fight. Liam, gritting his teeth against the pain, pulled out a stack of jade talismans and threw them at the blood figure. With a series of crackling sounds, the figure was left with numerous burn marks. But a new layer of blood quickly washed over him, erasing all the injuries.
"It's useless, I am a Deity. How can a mere mortal harm a god? You have successfully angered me." The blood figure clasped his hands together and then slowly pulled them apart, revealing a long, blood-red staff in his hand.
"Do you know what you have just done? I was about to devour everything the Sorcerer King set up in this tower and gain a physical body, which would have made me a true Deity! But you, this annoying pest, have forced me to spend another five hundred years."
As he spoke, the blood figure waved his staff, sending a crescent-shaped wave of blood-colored energy straight at Liam. Liam rolled to the side, narrowly avoiding the attack in a rather undignified manner.
"I swear, I will live to drain your blood and that of your companions. Then I will turn you into Corpse Cocoons, letting your souls scream inside for a thousand years, ten thousand years." By the end of his tirade, a torrent of profanities spewed forth, clearly showing he was on the verge of losing his temper.
Wait, so this isn't the Sorcerer King, but the Bloodstone that has come to life. Ten thousand years, that's brutal. The Great Sage was only sealed for five hundred years. But then again, both are stones. Sun Wukong became the Monkey King after a thousand years, while you, the Bloodstone, have turned into this low-grade trash, unable to even form a proper human shape.
While mentally berating the blood figure, Liam circled the hall, dodging his attacks and occasionally firing spells that left marks on the figure's body. Unfortunately, no matter how many marks he inflicted, they would vanish within ten seconds.
Liam was extremely tense because the souls he had seen earlier confirmed that the threat was real. If he couldn't hold out, he would have to use the emporium's escape system to flee.
After chasing Liam for a while, the blood figure returned to his original position, raised his staff high, and slammed it into the ground. Liam, thinking he was about to unleash a powerful attack, quickly added several layers of defense around himself. However, nothing happened. Instead, a circular black hole appeared in the ceiling directly above the blood figure.
Soon, thin streams of blood-red energy emerged from the black hole and flowed into the blood figure's body. If Liam could see outside, he would notice that the most important Blood Pools in every Blood God Cult secret base were slowly drying up, and many Wizards who practiced the Blood God Cult's unique magic suddenly found their blood boiling and gradually disappearing.
"These traitors thought they could steal the power of a god, but today they will all pay the price."
The blood figure stood there, leaning on his staff, and shouted. Liam could feel the intensity of his energy growing stronger.
