Chapter 194: Why Are You Giving a Hard Time to an Owl Delivering a Message?
Chapter 194: Why Are You Giving a Hard Time to an Owl Delivering a Message?
"Wait, I haven’t even asked who this is for yet?" Ivan suddenly thought of this serious issue while flying halfway to his destination.
Fortunately, the newspaper in his beak gave him a clear hint. Probably only a few people in the entire school would subscribe to something like this, and since it was for Ravenclaw House, it must be her.
He flew all the way to the entrance of Ravenclaw House, landing on the Eagle Knocker by flapping his wings.
Holding the newspaper with his claws, Ivan gently pecked the knocker, signaling for it to hurry up and ask the question. He was in a rush.
"What is the Nature of Magic?" The eagle's beak opened and closed, and a mysterious voice emerged from within.
Ivan was stunned. Shouldn’t you ask a riddle like "Which came first, the fire or the Phoenix?"
"Can I skip this and answer the next question?" Ivan asked hopefully.
But the knocker remained unmoved, repeating the question like a broken record.
"What is the Nature of Magic?"
"Are you a broken record? Why are you giving a hard time to a poor Owl just here to deliver a message?" Ivan jumped around on the bronze knocker, trying to persuade it to let him in.
How could I possibly know the answer to that?
Ivan was quite frustrated. He hadn’t expected that the question he once used to stump Tom Riddle would one day cause him trouble.
Even the Dark Lord in his fifth year couldn’t figure it out, so Ivan had even less of a clue.
He had many theories about the composition of Magic and Magic, and he had experienced the feeling of effortlessly controlling Magic, almost like wish fulfillment.
But he couldn’t provide a definitive answer.
Similarly, this wasn’t a question that a young Wizard at Hogwarts could answer, which was why Ivan said the knocker was giving him a hard time.
Could it be that this blasted bronze door treats people differently? Does it ask simpler questions to its own house members?
After a bout of mental complaining, Ivan felt something was off. How did other Owls get in?
Ivan turned his head and saw a black Owl flying down the corridor from the other end.
Perhaps finding Ivan’s behavior on the bronze ring strange, the black Owl flew closer and asked curiously.
"Gugugugugu~ (What are you doing here?)"
"Of course, I’m answering a question. I’ll think of the answer soon and then go inside", Ivan said, feigning confidence despite having no idea.
"Gugugugugu~ (Why answer a question? Why don’t you just fly in through the window?)" the black Owl asked, puzzled.
Ivan was silent for a moment before proudly declaring, "Because I am a very wise Owl who can answer questions!"
The black Owl gave him a strange look, then flew through a nearby ventilated window.
After the black Owl flew away, Ivan stealthily followed.
If there’s a way to get in directly, who would bother answering questions?
Flying into the Ravenclaw House common room, Ivan found it much larger than the Gryffindor dormitory, more like a large attic, and decorated with greater elegance.
The walls were adorned with twelve elegant arched windows, the curtains made of blue and bronze silk, and the ceiling was a dome dotted with stars.
Ivan found himself able to overlook the entire Hogwarts from here. With a good enough eyesight, he could even see the distant Black Lake and the Forbidden Forest.
Even the Ravenclaw Tower was not far from the Quidditch pitch. Watching a match from here might be a good choice.
Various thoughts raced through Ivan's mind, but he quickly set them aside as the system's notification sounded in his head.
[Ding, explored Ravenclaw common room. Current progress]
Ivan remembered his purpose for coming here and began to wander around the Ravenclaw common room, waiting for the progress bar to rise.
"Hey, why is Luna here? This is going to be troublesome", Ivan thought as he flew halfway and saw the young witch sitting in a corner of the common room, flipping through a newspaper.
Ivan felt a headache coming on. He had originally planned to use the excuse of delivering a letter to explore the other person's dormitory and complete the exploration task.
Now it was getting complicated.
Ivan thought for a moment and then flapped his wings to fly over. As he got closer, he heard a heated argument.
"There is no such thing as a Wrackspurt or a Crumple-Horned Snorkack. This is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard!" a young Ravenclaw girl, who looked quite haughty, said in a scolding tone.
"No, they do exist. We just haven't found them yet", the young witch replied. She had messy, golden hair that reached her waist, a necklace of cork stoppers around her neck, and a wand tucked behind her left ear. Her appearance was quite peculiar.
It was her distinctive attire that allowed Ivan to recognize her instantly in the spacious common room. She was his target for delivering the newspaper—Luna.
"I believe Wrackspurts often make people feel anxious and gloomy. I think there's one around me, but I can't seem to spot it", Luna explained in a dreamy manner.
"Are you calling me a Wrackspurt?" the Ravenclaw girl asked angrily.
Luna looked at her with a surprised expression, clearly thinking...
"How could you be a Wrackspurt? They're not as big as you."
The Ravenclaw girl understood Luna's expression and was instantly infuriated, unable to hold back her outburst.
"Crazy girl!"
Luna acted as if she hadn't heard and shifted her gaze back to the newspaper on the table, continuing to read it even though it was upside down, seemingly finding a unique pleasure in it.
Luna's indifferent attitude further enraged the already angry Ravenclaw girl.
But before she could do anything, she felt a gust of wind from above, and her carefully styled hair came undone.
"Hey? My hair clip... you damned owl!" The girl turned her head, glaring angrily at the grayish-white owl flying overhead, which was holding her hair clip in its claws.
Noticing the newspaper in the owl's beak, she suddenly realized what was happening and turned back to Luna, shouting.
"It must have been you who told it to do this, right?"
"I didn't command it", Luna's tone sounded strange, almost like she was singing a song. She continued, "Life is full of unknowns, so why do you think Wrackspurts don't exist? Just like you didn't expect an owl to play a trick on you, right?"
