Chapter 194: Secret Weapon
Chapter 194: Secret Weapon
The old man's earlier fit of rage made him feel less like a Deity, so he quickly calmed down and said, "Since I've already waited a thousand years, a little more time won't make a difference. Let me tell you the story of how this all began."
"Back then, after I established the Realm, I protected its people for nearly a century. As I grew old, I worried that no one would be able to continue safeguarding this Realm, so I began traveling the world in search of a way to extend my life.
"After enduring many hardships, I finally found what I needed for immortality near an island in the northeast, where a race similar to this girl's lived. It was the Bloodstone." The old man gestured towards Hermione.
"Bloodstone?" Liam and Hermione exchanged glances and shook their heads, indicating they had no idea what it was. It was understandable, given that most of the books they had read were publicly available, and something as rare as the Bloodstone wouldn't be mentioned in such common literature.
"You've never heard of it? That's fine; it won't affect the story I'm about to tell. I came across the Bloodstone by chance. At the time, I was resting on a small island north of the main one. I saw a powerful Wizard, who even now seems formidable to me, kill a massive blood-red octopus. After the octopus died, I sensed that it had what I was looking for. Without thinking, I charged at the Wizard and snatched the blood-red stone that had emerged from the octopus's body."
"The Wizard, thinking I had stolen his loot, repeatedly told me that the blood-red object was evil and demanded I return it. I ignored him, and he pursued me relentlessly. Eventually, I managed to escape his chase on the nearest continent to the island, but he inflicted permanent injuries on me."
"Returning here with my broken body, I used the Bloodstone to heal my wounds and began building a Realm truly worthy of a Deity. With the Bloodstone's power, I created the New World and moved my followers here, using magical rituals to grant them immortality like myself. From that moment on, I was a god."
Liam noticed that the souls in his Mind Sea grew even angrier, but the self-proclaimed Blood Deity didn't seem to notice his agitation, still lost in his memories.
"However, what I didn't expect was that the Bloodstone had its own consciousness. As I harnessed its power, it began to control me at times. The most significant instance was when it used my influence to spread Blood Sacrifice Magic and infiltrate my Blood God Cult, turning my followers into its own."
"Eventually, I discovered this, but by then, the Bloodstone and I had become one. After a battle, my capital was destroyed, and we were both trapped here under multiple seals.
"Unfortunately, the seals cannot last forever. A few years ago, the Bloodstone managed to break through them. Although I managed to contain it in time, it still managed to send a signal, summoning the descendants of the Blood God Cult. Sadly, my true heirs have been wiped out, and those who now bear my name are merely lackeys of the Bloodstone."
"Right now, they are up there, working with another group to control a powerful weapon. Soon, that weapon will unleash its full power, destroying the seals and allowing the Bloodstone to take my place as the Blood Deity, wreaking havoc in this land."
"So, child, I need your help to destroy that weapon. In return, I will pass on everything I have learned in my lifetime."
Liam didn't fully trust the old man's words. However, the weapon could very well be used to attack the School. Letting the dogs fight each other might be a good strategy. With this thought in mind, he asked the old man on the throne, "But there are many Wizards there. I haven't even come of age yet; I can't possibly defeat them."
"That's simple. You don't need to face them head-on. They can be in the hall because it is the Temple's energy core area, where they draw immense energy to charge the weapon. However, I was asleep and didn't notice it. By the time I woke up, it was too late."
"Fortunately, I am awake now. You are fortunate to have entered my Divine Realm and have this opportunity. If you can interrupt their ritual and make them stop for ten seconds, I can control the energy within the Pyramid to destroy them. After that, you will receive my Divine Favor."
With that, the old man tapped the armrest of his throne, and a golden door appeared in the hall. "Through this door, you will leave my Divine Realm and appear in the secret passages near the hall. The rest is up to you."
Liam and Hermione passed through the golden door into the secret passages. Hermione, looking uneasy, asked, "Do you think that man who called himself the Blood Deity was telling the truth?"
"Probably not", Liam replied. "But these Blood God Cult members aren't good people either. At least in eliminating the Blood God Cult, we have a common goal."
Liam peered through a peephole to observe the people in the hall. Most of them were Blood God Cultists dressed in blood-red robes, mixed with members of the Chimera Society in various colored robes.
At that moment, everyone in the hall gathered and looked toward the platform at one end. Liam could faintly hear the voice coming from the platform:
"In half an hour, this powerful weapon will be fully charged. We will use it to destroy Castrop College and announce our rise to the world. From now on, we will live under the Sunlight once again."
"Long live!" the crowd below cheered in various languages.
Liam took a few steps along the secret passage and switched to another peephole, finally getting a clear view of the platform:
A black cylinder, over five meters tall and four meters in diameter, floated in the air, resembling a large bell in a church. Numerous blood-red beams of light shot out from the walls and connected to the object, clearly charging it. The bell was visibly vibrating rapidly, like a wild beast struggling against its restraints.
When Liam directed his gaze to the top of the object, the ancient bronze swastika symbol confirmed its identity.
"The Doomsday Bell from World War II?! Is this really real? What did Grindelwald do back then?"
Seeing Liam's unusual expression, Hermione moved closer. "What's wrong? Do you need my help?"
"Nothing", Liam reassured Hermione. "You go to the innermost shelter and hide. I'll take care of the rest quickly."
Hermione understood the situation and nodded, running to the innermost shelter to hide.
Liam estimated the distance, fumbled through his Dimensional Bag, and muttered, "Fortunately, I brought my last resort. Otherwise, I'd never be able to handle these thirty-odd people."
