Chapter 193: The Wolf King
Chapter 193: The Wolf King
September 25, 2017
As Lu HaiKong was busy grinding for Wild Wolves, an astonishing transformation was taking place within the refugee camp where Ma Pen resided.
Ma Pen sat alone on a large boulder in the camp, surrounded by several freshly killed corpses, his face contorted with cruelty and a terrifying loss of humanity.
In Ma Pen's right hand, he held the Shadow Fang given to him by Lu HaiKong, while in his left hand was a book that seemed to be enveloped in an eerie ghostly aura.
Below Ma Pen, the refugees stood straight, their demeanor resembling that of ghosts, like a disciplined army.
Despite their upright stance and orderly formation, they lacked the iron-blooded aura of soldiers, instead exuding an eerie, ghostly aura.
Though it was high noon, the camp felt chillingly cold.
"It took a month and ten days, but the first step is finally complete!"
Ma Pen looked down at the refugees, his face showing an expression of uncertainty, whether to cry or laugh. This month had been an extremely difficult trial for him.
................................................................
Beyond the grasslands, in Wolf Valley.
Lu HaiKong marched forward, his demeanor giving off a sense of a max-leveled player crushing through a new map.
With his high-quality equipment and formidable strength, the Wild Wolves were no match for Lu HaiKong.
Lu HaiKong was like a human-shaped steamroller, crushing his way through Wolf Valley. This effortless momentum made Lu HaiKong feel like he could steamroll all the way to the end.
However, as Lu HaiKong ventured into the central part of Wolf Valley, the situation changed abruptly. The number of Wild Wolves surrounding him suddenly increased, and their strength rose from the initial 20 to 25. Moreover, among the wolves encircling Lu HaiKong were several larger-sized creatures.
"As expected, this Wolf Valley isn't as simple as it seems."
Despite this realization, Lu HaiKong wasn't the least bit concerned. Even with the increased number and strength of the Wild Wolves, he continued to steamroll them without any pressure.
After all, they were just wolves, and Lu HaiKong was currently in personal mode. The number of Wild Wolves surrounding him was always kept below fifty, and if thousands of them attacked at once, Lu HaiKong's hundred-pound body would have been overwhelmed long ago.
Lu HaiKong didn't pay much attention to the Wild Wolves with a strength of 25, as they couldn't tear through his Thick Mountain Armor anyway. Instead, he focused on the few larger-sized wolves, whose strength was around 40 and posed no real threat to him.
Despite steamrolling his way through, Lu HaiKong still exited Wolf Valley a couple of times. After all, Lu HaiKong was only human, and his stamina couldn't be infinite. Moreover, the Ghost Mask Axe and Thick Mountain Armor were quite heavy, so being able to fight continuously for one or two hours was already impressive.
Each time Lu HaiKong exited, he would cultivate the Ascending Dragon Energy Art. The Ascending Dragon Energy Art was of a high grade, and its Martial Experience couldn't be directly upgraded using Skill Experience; Lu HaiKong had to cultivate it step by step himself.
This was quite time-consuming, but the Ascending Dragon Energy Art was indeed powerful. Aside from its other benefits, its ability to restore stamina was unmatched by any other Innate Power Art Lu HaiKong knew.
Cultivating in his exhausted state, Lu HaiKong's Ascending Dragon Energy Art Skill Experience grew steadily, and his stamina recovered exceptionally fast. In just about an hour, Lu HaiKong's stamina was fully restored.
Lu Haikong had been tirelessly slaughtering the wolves in Wolf Valley, and the number of wolves, though initially abundant, was no match for his relentless onslaught. After several trips, he felt a sense of fatigue, but his progress was remarkable.
Wolf Valley, a system-generated monster-spawning point, could not keep up with Lu Haikong's killing pace. In just under a day, he had nearly conquered the entire valley.
After his fourth cultivation session of the Ascending Dragon Energy Art, Lu Haikong, brimming with energy, mounted a Black Wind bandit's horse and ventured into the valley once more.
"Almost there," he thought. "One more trip, and this valley will be conquered."
Despite the near-cheat-like power of the Ascending Dragon Energy Art, Lu Haikong couldn't help but feel weary after hours of continuous combat, even with horse changes but no rest for himself.
His fatigue, however, was a small price to pay for the gains he had made. In just a few hours, his new class, 'Bandit King,' had almost reached level three, and his Fundamental Axe Technique, with the allocation of abundant skill experience, had nearly reached level 31 after continuous hours of intense combat.
These achievements were the fruits of Lu Haikong's labor, but he knew the best was yet to come. He was certain that a substantial reward awaited him once he fully conquered Wolf Valley.
Unbeknownst to Lu Haikong, the challenges often became more formidable the deeper one ventured.
As he chose the personal mode, Wolf Valley transformed into a true monster-grinding spot, with each level becoming increasingly difficult as he ventured further.
Riding his horse into the deepest part of the valley, Lu Haikong encountered ten massive wolves, each nearly six feet long.
A sense of ferocity and wildness filled the air, and as this aura reached Lu Haikong, his Mountain Splitting Axe's power responded in kind.
"There's a boss with a Strength Rating of over 70 here," he realized.
Lu Haikong's eyes lit up, not a hint of fear in them, as he eagerly awaited what was to come.
From the depths of the valley emerged a majestic wolf, nearly seven feet tall, its fur a mix of silver and gray, standing tall with an air of elegance and pride.
"I never imagined such a beast in this game," Lu Haikong thought, his eyes gleaming with desire. "If I can tame it, I'll be the envy of all when I venture out."
The wolf king, sensing Lu Haikong's intense gaze, halted in its tracks and let out a long, angry howl.
As the howl echoed, the ten giant wolves surrounding Lu Haikong pounced towards him.
"Bring it on!" Lu Haikong tightened his grip on the Ghost Mask Axe, his battle intent surging as he charged forward.
