Chapter 193: Doing Good Deeds Anonymously
Chapter 193: Doing Good Deeds Anonymously
Leaning against the wall, Kyle listened to the footsteps outside gradually fading away.
"Hiss..." A gasp came from not too far away.
Harry lifted the Invisibility Cloak, appearing in the room as if he had suddenly come to life.
However, he didn't notice that there was another person in the room. After taking off the cloak, he started examining the room.
He found a very impressive mirror in the room and curiously walked towards it, as if wanting to take a look at his current appearance.
Soon, when Harry reached the mirror, he couldn't move his feet anymore.
Not far away, Kyle, who had witnessed the whole thing, rubbed his forehead.
He had seen that mirror in the Headmaster's office last year; it was the Erised Mirror.
Kyle also knew that the Erised Mirror's temptation for Harry was undoubtedly enormous, but now was definitely not the time to be looking at mirrors.
Snape had just said he was going to check the dormitories, and he had forgotten so quickly?
Forget it, he should remind him.
As Kyle left the room, he intentionally made a loud noise and casually threw a Knut in that direction.
As a Chaser, Kyle's performance was still stable. The Knut drew an arc in mid-air and accurately hit Harry's forehead.
Hopefully, this would help him snap out of it.
By now, the fourth floor was empty, and Professor Sprout was nowhere to be seen. After leaving the room, Kyle quickly found the suit of armor and followed the secret passage to the dungeon classroom.
In the kitchen corridor, a few people were standing, awakened by the noise. They wanted to see what had happened but didn't dare to leave the corridor.
Using the Invisibility Charm, Kyle quietly blended into the crowd. When Professor Sprout arrived, he returned to the common room with them.
"Kyle, when did you go out as well?"
In the common room, Conna hugged a pillow, her eyes half-open, and asked drowsily, "What happened outside?"
"I don't know." Kyle shook his head calmly. "After being woken up, I went out, but it was dark outside, and I didn't see anyone."
Conna nodded vaguely, not sure if she was listening.
The next day, the entire Hogwarts was discussing the previous night's events. During breakfast, almost half of the students yawned from time to time.
"It was too dangerous. Last night, Professor McGonagall almost discovered that you weren't in the dormitory." Ron poked at a piece of fried egg in his plate and said drowsily, "How did you manage to..."
"I've said it many times, Ron, it wasn't me!" Harry said irritably. "I just went to the library!"
"But..."
"It was someone else!" Harry thought for a moment and said, "There must have been another person there. Remember the mirror I told you about?
I was so engrossed in looking at it that someone hit me.
If it weren't for him, Professor McGonagall would have found me for sure."
"In that case, that person was quite helpful." Ron said in a low voice. "He could have ignored you. That way, whether it was a deduction of points or detention, all the consequences would have fallen on you, and he would have been completely safe."
"Yes, that's exactly what happened, but who was that person..."
Harry raised his head and scanned the Great Hall. "Ron, do you think there might be someone else with an Invisibility Cloak like me?
He didn't notice anyone else nearby yesterday, just like how Filch couldn't see me at the time.
In my opinion, the only thing that could achieve that is the Invisibility Cloak."
"That's unlikely..."
Ron paused, then shook his head. "The Invisibility Cloak is a rare item, even among wizards. But... Malfoy might have one."
He recalled how Malfoy had spent one hundred Galleons on a toy before Christmas. If he wanted to buy an Invisibility Cloak, it didn't seem like a difficult task.
"You're right, Ron," Harry agreed, guessing Ron's thoughts and shrugging. "But Malfoy went home yesterday and wasn't at school."
"What a shame..." Ron sighed.
After a moment of silence, Harry's thoughts returned to the mirror, and the images he had seen within it involuntarily resurfaced in his mind.
Who were those two people... Could they be his parents?
The time was too brief for Harry to be certain, and he decided to visit the mirror again later that day.
Neither of the two boys noticed that their conversation was overheard by Fred and George, who were standing nearby.
"Did you hear that, George? An Invisibility Cloak..." Fred raised an eyebrow.

"Of course, Fred," George whispered with a smile. "There aren't many people in Hogwarts with an Invisibility Cloak, and our friend happens to be one of them."
"It's fortunate we didn't go home for Christmas this year, or we would have missed such an exciting show."
"That's Kyle for you, making everyone wake up five hours early... What a brilliant idea!"
Fred peered towards Hufflepuff's direction, puzzled. "But why hasn't Kyle arrived at the Great Hall yet? I'm waiting to ask him about the specifics."
"He's probably still asleep," George surmised. "Hufflepuff's Common Room is right next to the kitchen, so they can eat whenever they want."
"How convenient..." Fred sighed. "If only we could move Gryffindor's Common Room downstairs as well."
"Indeed... Then we wouldn't have to rush downstairs every night."
The professors at the High Table were also discussing the incident. They had conducted a surprise inspection of each House's dormitories the previous night, but no students were absent.
"We must have been too late; he must have returned early!"
Snape glanced at Harry and said slowly, "I suggest asking the Fat Lady if any young wizards sneaked out in the middle of the night."
Professor McGonagall pursed her lips and gave him a quick glance.
"Severus, we never ask the Fat Lady about student matters," Professor Dumbledore shook his head. "And it wouldn't be fair to the other three Houses either.
But you can try asking the other portraits in the corridor."
"I will..." Snape's face turned slightly unpleasant as he glanced at Gryffindor's direction once more before leaving the High Table.
"Actually, I've already asked," Dumbledore said, winking at Professor McGonagall after Snape left. "But they didn't see anything. What a clever young wizard..."
Professor McGonagall frowned, seemingly disagreeing with the "clever" assessment.
Professor Dumbledore didn't notice this and continued, "Hogwarts hasn't been this lively in a long time.
I bet Hagrid is delighted. He's been worrying about the increasing number of Meat Bugs in the Herbology gardens, and now the problem is solved."
