Chapter 192: The Little Housework Expert
Chapter 192: The Little Housework Expert
"Let's head inside!"
Naoki signaled for the other Pokemon to continue playing while he took the two Aipom to familiarize themselves with their new home.
The trio crossed the lawn and soon reached the newly built house.
The two Aipom looked up at the house before them.
Intelligent as they were, they immediately recognized that this would be their new home.
Compared to the manor's villa, this house was much smaller, with two stories. The entrance featured an engawa, a corridor-like design common in Japanese architecture.
Overhead was an extended eave that provided shelter from the rain.
The entire corridor was bright and spacious, adorned with a set of wind chimes that produced a pleasant ring with the slightest breeze.
On the other side of the door hung a square box made of wood, which the two Aipom, despite their extensive cognitive development, couldn't identify.
"Aipom?" the younger Aipom sister inquired curiously.
Naoki followed her gaze and explained with a smile, "That's Butterfree's nest. I made it with wood boards and nails, lined with leaves, grass, and petals."
Every evening, Butterfree would fly into its cozy nest to sleep.
The two Aipom nodded in understanding.
Naoki then opened the door and welcomed them into the living room.
"This is our home from now on," he said.
The siblings immediately looked around, their eyes wide with curiosity.
Their gaze first fell on the neat and bright living room.
The room was simply yet warmly furnished, featuring a soft sofa, a round wooden coffee table, and a television set placed across from the sofa, with a green potted plant beside it.
But the most captivating feature of the room was a display rack filled with various items.
Naoki took the initiative to introduce them, "Those were sent by Teddiursa. Its characteristic is 'Pickup,' and Pokemon with this trait tend to have a collecting hobby, picking up all sorts of things outside and bringing them home."
"Aipom?" they asked, not having seen Teddiursa around.
Naoki explained, "Teddiursa is currently traveling and won't be back for a while, so you won't get to meet it soon."
Hearing this, the two Aipom wore astonished expressions.
The older Aipom brother, who had been quiet until now, asked uncertainly, "Aipom?" (But isn't it your Pokemon? Don't they travel with their Trainers?)
"No," Naoki shook his head. "Teddiursa is quite special. Even without a Trainer, it can take care of itself just fine."
At this revelation, the siblings exchanged a glance.
The younger Aipom sister conveyed her thoughts to her brother through their eye contact.
"Aipom..." (Bro, don't you think there's something odd about this ranch...)
The older Aipom's eyes flickered, but he remained silent.
Indeed, there was something peculiar about this place, from Naoki himself to the Pokemon—they were nothing like the Trainers and Pokemon they had known before.
Ignoring their unspoken thoughts, Naoki continued the tour, introducing the remaining areas.
"Over here is where I usually read and relax. The Pokemon from the ranch also come here to play sometimes."
At this, the two Aipom turned their attention to the area he indicated.
They noticed a brand-new fireplace installed in the wall to Naoki's right. The fireplace was spotless, as if it had never been used.
In front of the fireplace was a rocking chair, and beneath it lay a round rug with a few books and toys piled on top—a round, fluffy ball, a cuddly Furret doll, and a few red and white Poke Balls.
The two Aipom were familiar with fireplaces.
Seeing this cozy setup, they could almost imagine the owner of the house, rocking gently by the fireplace on a winter day, lost in the pages of a book as the fire crackled nearby.
"The rug in front of the fireplace is where Mototoke sleeps. He feels the cold easily," Naoki explained.
Indeed, the Aipom siblings thought, the spot in front of the fireplace would be nice and warm.
"And this is the kitchen, where I prepare food for the Pokemon on the ranch," Naoki said as he moved on to the next area.
There wasn't much to say about the kitchen, so he quickly turned and opened the door to the basement, "And this is the cellar, where we make wine."
Naoki smiled and asked, "Do you like sweets?" The younger sister eagerly nodded, and after a moment's hesitation, the older brother gave a subtle nod as well.
Naoki fetched two packets of honey candies from the refrigerator and handed them over before heading upstairs. "Let's go to the second floor, where your rooms are located."
They soon arrived at the small living room on the second floor. Naoki opened a door, revealing a room adorned with vibrant colors, perfect for children. "Since I wasn't sure what you would like, I decorated your room in a style that humans typically use."
The Aipom siblings had no particular preferences when it came to their living quarters. They had assumed they would be living inside a Poke Ball, so having their own room was an exciting surprise.
Naoki continued, "The other rooms are a study and a storage room. Oh, and the video phone is in the first-floor living room. If you want to talk to your parents, you can use that to contact them."
The siblings were overjoyed at the thought of being able to stay in touch with their family.
After the tour, Naoki checked the time and realized it was already 10:30 am. He decided to prepare a sumptuous lunch to welcome the new arrivals. However, he noticed that the refrigerator was running low on ingredients, so he set out on Gooloton to buy some supplies in town.
Naoki left the ranch, entrusting the two Aipom to Mototoke's care. After a quick shopping trip, he began his journey back to the ranch, his thoughts drifting to the two new additions.
The Aipom siblings were still very young, barely three months old, making them the youngest Pokemon on the ranch. Naoki had expected to care for them for a while, but to his surprise, when he returned, he found the house spotless and well-organized.
The dust on the wooden floors had been swept away, and each plank gleamed as if they were brand new. The dirty laundry in the bathroom had been washed, and the older Aipom brother was quietly hanging the clothes on a rack outside the house.
Moreover, Naoki noticed that the trash bin was empty, and the younger sister had even brought him a freshly brewed cup of tea.
"Thanks," Naoki said, reaching out to take the cup as he was feeling a bit thirsty. He drank the tea in one go. Impressed by the younger sister's tea-making skills, he widened his eyes, looking at the older brother hanging the laundry and the younger sister with the tea tray.
"Can you do housework?" Naoki asked, surprised.
The younger sister nodded gently, a gentle smile on her face. "Aipom!"
Naoki patted his pockets but realized he had finished all the sunflower seeds. Gooloton, as if reading his mind, darted into the room and retrieved a packet of sunflower seeds from Naoki's snack stash, proudly presenting it to him.
Naoki chuckled at the proud look on Gooloton's face. He patted the large Pokemon's head and ate the seeds.
The younger sister repeated, "Aipom!" (Before we came here, our parents taught us how to do housework!)
Whether it was sweeping and mopping, doing laundry, taking out the trash, hanging clothes to dry, washing dishes, or making tea, they were adept at all these tasks!
Indeed, these Aipom siblings from a large estate were quite the little housework experts!
Naoki nodded in approval. It seemed like these two would require minimal supervision. He put away the ingredients in the kitchen, and his eyes landed on the trash bin in the corner.
"Where did you throw away the trash?" he asked.
The older brother pointed towards a trash can on the road outside the ranch. "Aipom."
Naoki breathed a sigh of relief. At least they hadn't dumped it in the bushes.
Then, a spark of curiosity lit up his eyes. "But how did you know that this is the type of tea I like?"
Upon hearing this, the younger sister turned to look at Mototoke. The older brother followed suit.
It was clear that both the type of tea and the location of the trash can were pieces of information provided by Mototoke.
"No wonder.
Naoki raised an eyebrow, curious. "You know how to cook too?"
The younger sister nodded enthusiastically. "Aipom!" (Before we came here, my brother and I both learned how to cook, but my brother is a bit clumsy. He almost burned down the kitchen a few times.)
The older brother Aipom: !!!
He immediately shot his sister a disapproving look, clearly embarrassed by the revelation.
Naoki found the whole situation amusing and couldn't help but laugh.
The older brother Aipom turned his head away, hanging his head low.
Realizing that she might have accidentally embarrassed her brother, the younger sister covered her mouth with her hands. But it was too late, and she quickly tried to salvage the situation:
"Aipom, Aipom!" (My brother and I have different strengths. I'm good at cooking, making tea, taking care of people and Pokemon, while my brother excels at housekeeping, being a butler, mowing the lawn, and taking care of our owner's daily life. He can keep the place spotless and well-organized!)
"Oh, I see," Naoki nodded along, playing along. "You're both amazing!"
Indeed, if the two Aipom worked together, they could significantly reduce his workload.
They could take care of the housework, feed the Pokemon on the ranch, and as the ranch owner, he could focus on creating magical dishes.
Come winter, when the fields lay fallow, he could leave the ranch in their capable hands and venture to the Galar region in search of the Legendary Pokemon, Regidrago, and its two steeds.
There was also the mine in Hole Town that piqued his interest.
It was known for its abundance of various stones and minerals.
While he wasn't Daigo, as a former Pokemon player, he was eager to collect evolution stones and rare minerals.
After all, with evolution stones, he could get one step closer to his dream of owning Eevee with all their unique evolutions.
Additionally, there was the Northern Village.
However, Naoki only knew about this place by hearsay and not much else, as the DLC had not been released when he crossed over.
"I should pay a visit there when I have the time," he thought.
He had heard that the village boasted beautiful pastoral landscapes, abundant apple orchards, and vibrant festivals.
As Naoki prepared lunch, his mind wandered to the future.
Today's lunch was a collaborative effort between him and the younger sister Aipom.
She proved to be an excellent cook, preparing half of the dishes on the menu, showcasing her maxed-out cooking skills.
A group of Pokemon gathered around the dining table, next to the large floor-to-ceiling window, enjoying the beautiful pastoral view outside.
The table was filled with an array of delicious dishes.
There was grilled steak, sandwiches, corn rib soup, omelet rolls, vegetable stew, crispy perch, pumpkin cream soup, and a platter of Poke Beans.
For beverages and desserts, they had Lucky Pudding, strawberry juice, MooMoo Milk, honey candy, and baked cookies.
Naoki's gaze swept across the spread, noticing that several new dishes were prepared by the younger sister Aipom.
Dishes like the vegetable stew, crispy perch, omelet rolls, and pumpkin cream soup.
These dishes sparked a sense of inspiration in Naoki, who had been feeling stagnant in his culinary creations lately.
He decided that he would ask the younger Aipom to teach him some of her recipes later.
It's worth mentioning that the Poke Bean platter was prepared by the younger sister Aipom, but it didn't have the skill-enhancing effect of her brother's.
Even so, several Pokemon who had previously experienced the terrifying effects of the enhanced Poke Beans were hesitant to eat them.
They didn't want to forget the hard-earned moves they had learned, and although they could relearn them, the repetitive process was exhausting.
Naoki struggled to contain his laughter at their cautious behavior.
The younger sister Aipom, on the other hand, looked completely baffled.
She glanced at the group of Pokemon, confusion evident in her voice as she asked, "Aipom?"
"Ga-oh..."
"Roar..."
Mototoke and the Dragonite chimed in, explaining the reason for their hesitation.
The younger sister Aipom's eyes widened in surprise. "Aipom?!"
She couldn't believe that such a thing was possible. Both siblings turned to Naoki for clarification.
"You can think of that power as a kind of superpower," Naoki explained nonchalantly. "Don't be too surprised; you'll get used to it eventually."
Thinking about the effect of the Poke Bean platter, Naoki felt a twinge of disappointment.
He wished there was a Gambling Pokemon on his ranch—one that would relentlessly devour dishes until it mastered a powerful move.
"What a shame," he thought.
