Chapter 192: S.H.I.E.L.D. Surveillance (Second Update)
Chapter 192: S.H.I.E.L.D. Surveillance (Second Update)
"Blackcoal, let's go, destination: S.H.I.E.L.D. aircraft carrier!"
After leaving the neighborhood, Jerry found an empty rooftop to put away his flying broom and release Nightmare from his box space.
Nightmare, being entirely black, was named Blackcoal by Jerry.
"Whinny~"
Blackcoal let out a horse's whinny, its hooves pounding the ground, and its bat-like wings flapping rapidly, darting forward like a black arrow.
"This speed, it's amazing!"
It was Jerry's first time riding Nightmare, and he finally understood why, in the book Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Newt described it as one of the fastest creatures in the wizarding world.
Indeed, it was incredibly fast. If he didn't grip Nightmare's mane tightly, he felt like he might be thrown off.
If a flying broom's speed could be compared to the top-of-the-line sports cars on the ground, then Nightmare's full-speed flight could rival the fastest aircraft in this world.
No wonder in the original story, Harry and his friends could travel from Hogwarts to the Ministry of Magic in London in just a short while on Nightmare.
"Sweetheart, did you see a black horse flying by just now?"
On the rooftop of a building in New York, a young man with dyed yellow hair and earrings, who had just seen Nightmare flying through the sky, asked his girlfriend, who was stargazing with him, in a dazed manner.
To his surprise, his girlfriend immediately became angry and slapped him hard:
"Jack, are you high again? You promised me you'd never do it again!"
"I'm not, I really am not!"
"Then do you think it's reasonable for a horse to fly in the sky?"
"This... Mary, listen to me, I really didn't do it today!"
"So you did it yesterday!"
"I... this..."
...
Jerry didn't tell Blackcoal the coordinates of the S.H.I.E.L.D. aircraft carrier or which one of their carriers to head to, but as soon as he shouted the location, Blackcoal seemed to know exactly where to go.
In less than ten minutes, Jerry was back at the S.H.I.E.L.D. aircraft carrier.
It was clear that the magical abilities of Fantastic Beasts were indeed powerful. Even in a different world, they still worked effectively.
Just like how an owl would know where to deliver a letter by just being told the name, regardless of how many people shared that name, it would always find the right one. The same applied to Nightmare.
"Be careful, something's coming!"
On the deck of the S.H.I.E.L.D. aircraft carrier, some agents, seeing a black dot approaching from the distance, instinctively drew their guns.
In a few blinks, the black dot became clear.
"Good heavens, what is that thing?"
The S.H.I.E.L.D. agents stared with wide eyes at the unknown, entirely black creature in front of them. They had never seen anything so strange and terrifying.
It looked emaciated, with a dragon-like head and enormous bat wings, as if it were a hippogriff from hell.
"Don't worry, it's me!"
Just as the agents were about to shoot the approaching creature, a familiar figure emerged from behind it—none other than wizard Jerry.
Once Blackcoal landed steadily on the deck and folded its bat-like wings, Jerry hopped off and threw it a piece of raw meat from his box.
"Don't worry, it has a good temperament and won't attack anyone. By the way, Coulson called me over. Where is he?"
"Um, please wait a moment, I'll inform the commander right away!"
An agent who looked like Captain Coulson glanced at the Nightmare, which was slurping down raw meat, and quickly pulled out his radio.
"Sir, sir, the wizard has arrived on the deck and requests a meeting with you!"
"So soon, have her wait a moment. I'll have these robot soldiers dragged to the deck right away!"
Coulson's voice came through the radio, sounding somewhat surprised.
Clearly, he hadn't expected Jerry to arrive so quickly, just a few minutes after hanging up the Magic video call. The aircraft carrier was a considerable distance from the center of New York.
"Whoa, wizard lady, what kind of horse is that?"
Coulson, accompanied by the modified robot soldiers, arrived on the deck and was taken aback by the sight of the Nightmare next to Jerry.
What kind of bizarre genetic experiment is this?
"It's a Magic creature called a Nightmare, my new mount!"
Jerry stroked Blackcoal's head, and Blackcoal nudged Jerry's palm affectionately.
Coulson didn't press the matter further, knowing that some questions about Magic were impossible to explain clearly.
"These robot soldiers have been fully modified according to your specifications. Here's the controller; I'll show you how to operate them."
The controller in Coulson's hand was essentially a tablet-like device, used to input commands to control the robot soldiers.
Jerry gave it a try, and with the help of the Focus Potion, he quickly mastered it.
"Primary weapon: machine guns, dual high-power electroshockers, flight capability, and added anti-aircraft guns. Not bad at all!"
Satisfied, Jerry waved his wand, and the twelve robot soldiers lined up and flew into his box space, though not his own, but the second one he had obtained by killing Quirrell.
"Aren't you going to install surveillance equipment in these robot soldiers?"
After stowing the twelve robot soldiers, Jerry looked at Coulson with a suspicious expression.
Coulson smiled and said naturally:
"Of course not, wizard lady, you're overthinking it!"
"Good, I'll be off then. If anything comes up, call me on the Magic mirror!"
Jerry nodded in pretended satisfaction, swung himself onto Blackcoal, and quickly vanished into a black dot.
"That black horse really flies fast!"
Coulson couldn't help but exclaim as Jerry and her Magic mount disappeared from sight in a blink.
Returning to the aircraft carrier, Coulson connected a video call with Nick Fury.
"Director, the wizard lady has been successfully received."
"Did she suspect anything?"
Fury asked.
Coulson hesitated for a moment before replying honestly:
"Although she didn't seem suspicious on the surface, my intuition tells me she definitely guessed something."
"No problem. The surveillance devices we installed in each robot soldier are very discreet. Unless she disassembles the entire robot, she won't find them.
And these devices don't provide real-time surveillance; they just record video and send it over at set intervals, making it even less likely for her to discover them."
Nick Fury smiled.
Her Magic is indeed impressive, but she doesn't seem to be an expert in machinery.
"Director, is this really a good idea? If the wizard lady finds out, she'll only distrust us even more!"
Coulson furrowed his brow.
He had always had a positive impression of wizards, and emotionally, he didn't agree with Fury's approach. However, as an agent, his rational side compelled him to follow orders.
