Chapter 191: Entering the Chamber of Secrets
Chapter 191: Entering the Chamber of Secrets
In the dead of night, on the third floor of the castle, near the left corridor by the stairs, a girl's bathroom suddenly erupted with laughter and a piercing scream.
A bespectacled ghost suddenly appeared, passing right through the wall.
The next moment, the bathroom door opened from the inside.
Peeves, holding a water-filled balloon, followed with a loud laugh. He had a brand-new package bag attached to his waist, filled with balloons of various colors, an ample supply of ammunition.
Shortly after the two ghosts left, an empty corridor came to life as a corner warped.
"Phew... They're finally gone."
Kyle dispelled the Invisibility Charm and walked towards the bathroom, pushing the door open and entering.
The old wooden door, unused for a long time, creaked loudly, making one's teeth hurt.
The bathroom was not large and was covered in dust.
However, Kyle paid no heed to these details. He approached the sink, looked around, and quickly spotted the faucet with a small snake carved on its side.
"This should be it..." Kyle touched the snake, muttering, "The entrance to the Slytherin Chamber of Secrets."
Kyle had hesitated for a long time before deciding to come here.
With his current strength, he had no chance against the Basilisk.
Moreover, he wasn't Harry, so he wouldn't have the help of a phoenix or the Sorting Hat.
But Kyle still came.
Aside from everything else, he had to come here for the snake's shed skin in the Chamber.
Like dragons, basilisks were almost entirely valuable, and their shed skin was an extremely rare potion ingredient. In the black market, a palm-sized piece could fetch ten Galleons, and it was in high demand.
The one in the Chamber was about twenty feet long; it could pile up into a mountain of Galleons.
It had been challenging for him to wait until now to come here.
Kyle touched the little snake again, emitting a strange hissing sound.
"Open..."
Although Kyle could communicate with snakes without Parseltongue, this ability was ineffective on the faucet.
So, when he was with Newt, Kyle specifically sought out a Runesnake to learn a few dialect phrases.
While it might not be authentic, it was undoubtedly standard.
The faucet glowed with a dazzling white light and began to spin rapidly. Then, the sink started to move.
Kyle watched as the sink slowly disappeared from his sight, revealing a thick pipe large enough for a person to crawl through.
Kyle patted his box, took out his flying broomstick, and decisively crawled inside.
The pipe was dimly lit, and the surroundings were covered in sticky substances.
Riding his broomstick, Kyle descended, making seven or eight turns before finally leaving the pipe.
Kyle dismounted from his broom.
This was a dark stone tunnel, large enough for a person to stand inside.
"Lumos!"
Kyle lit his wand and proceeded cautiously forward.
However, the tunnel was too dark, and he could only see a small area ahead. His shadow stretched long on the damp walls, resembling a monster.
Rat bones were scattered across the wet ground, something Scabbers would surely love.
As Kyle walked, he paid attention to his surroundings, ready to run at any moment.
A few minutes later, Kyle turned a dark bend in the tunnel and finally spotted what he was looking for.
The silhouette of a massive creature coiled on the other side of the tunnel, motionless.
Kyle quickened his pace and approached, raising the wand in his hand.
The light shone on a huge piece of snake skin, emerald green and shimmering with dazzling gold, very bright.
Kyle immediately opened the box and stuffed it inside.
After that, he searched the surrounding area but only found some scattered fragments of snake skin. The only complete piece was this one.
Seeing this, Kyle gradually relaxed the anxiety that had been hanging in his heart.
The presence of only one complete piece of snake skin indicated that the Basilisk had not been active here frequently.
If his guess was correct, the one he saw earlier should have been left behind fifty years ago... the first time Tom Riddle opened the Chamber of Secrets.
Kyle continued walking forward, but for safety, he did not completely let down his guard and still tightly gripped his flying broomstick.

Along the way, in the spirit of thrift and frugality, Kyle did not overlook those fragments and collected them all whenever he spotted them.
As he walked and picked up the fragments, he soon reached the end of the tunnel. After turning the last bend, a solid wall blocked Kyle's path.
Engraved on the wall were two intertwining snakes, their eyes adorned with large, glittering emeralds.
Kyle reached out and pressed against one of the gems.
He suddenly thought that if he removed these gems, this wall would never be opened again...
Kyle thought so and did so.
Unfortunately, no matter what method he tried, whether prying or using magic, the gem showed no signs of loosening.
It felt as if the gem and the entire wall were one entity.
Kyle struggled for a long time, only to tire himself out.
"Forget it, I'm not trying anymore..."
He raised his head and looked at the eyes of the two snakes, emitting a low, hoarse hiss.
The two snakes parted, and the stone wall split from the middle, slowly sliding to both sides and disappearing. Kyle reached into the box, took a deep breath, and stepped inside.
On the other side of the wall was a long, dimly lit room with rows of stone pillars on either side, adorned with entwined giant snakes.
After arriving here, the snake skin completely disappeared, not a trace could be found.
Kyle held a wand in one hand and a rooster by the neck in the other, with the flying broomstick tucked under his arm, he slowly advanced through the stone pillars entwined with the giant snake.
Each step he took echoed hollowly and loudly in the eerie surroundings.
Kyle carefully searched the area first and only relaxed after confirming that there were no other passageways except for the entrance behind him. He then confidently walked through the room.
In front of the last pair of stone pillars, Kyle saw a statue as tall as the room itself, tightly pressed against the dark wall behind it.
The statue depicted an old and decrepit monkey face with a sparse, long beard that almost touched the ground.
"Salazar Slytherin..." Kyle narrowed his eyes and muttered softly, "This one doesn't look that great either. Lady Hufflepuff still looks more like a legendary wizard..."
Kyle looked up, knowing that as soon as he recited the last sentence in Parseltongue, the statue's mouth would open, and the Basilisk would fully awaken.
"Should I wake up the Basilisk?" Kyle hesitated in his thoughts.
