Chapter 191: Do You Like Fairy Tail?
Chapter 191: Do You Like Fairy Tail?
After Charle left with Rod and Gray, Wendy began recounting her adventures to Robin.
She described the wonders of Hargeon, the beauty of Magnolia, and the spectacular Magic Festival...
Wendy's face lit up with joy as she spoke about her journey.
The more she shared, the happier Robin became.
He looked at Wendy's radiant smile and said, "What kind of guild is Fairy Tail? Fools."
"It's amazing and full of fun, and..." Wendy paused, thinking, "even though there are some strange people, it feels very warm. Everyone there seems to be very happy every day."
"Do you like it there?"
"I do, but I like Cait Shelter even more."
Fairy Tail was a wonderful guild, and it was home to Gran Dine from another world, whom Wendy adored. However, for her, Cait Shelter was the place where she had lived for six years, the home she loved the most and considered the most important.
"Is that so? Fools." Robin looked at Wendy, his expression uncertain, "Have you ever thought about leaving Cait Shelter to join Fairy Tail?"
Wendy's face froze, and tears welled up in her eyes. "Why? Am I holding the guild back?"
Robin hated seeing Wendy cry and quickly reassured her, "No, no, everyone loves Wendy. It's just that Cait Shelter is too remote, and Shirotsume is too small. You and Charle deserve a future in a broader, more distant place..."
"No! I don't want that kind of future. I want to stay at Cait Shelter! My future is here!" Wendy wiped her tears and ran out of the tent.
Robin sighed helplessly, looking up at the tent ceiling, "Fools... but here, at Cait Shelter, there is no future..."
...
Charle brought Rod and Gray back to her and Wendy's home, which had an empty room.
It was originally meant for Charle, but she always slept with Wendy, so the room was used to store clothes and bedding.
"Is this okay? If there's not enough space, we can ask the others to let us stay with them."
"It's fine. Gray can take the bed, and I'll sleep on the floor. I feel more comfortable staying together in a new place."
Gray didn't mind the inconvenience. "I can sleep on the floor too."
Rod nodded immediately. "Great, then you can sleep on the floor."
"Excuse me?"
Rod said with a mischievous grin, "It's settled. Ice Mages don't catch colds easily, and my constitution is weak, so the bed suits me just fine."
You never mentioned your weak constitution when we were fighting!
Gray didn't mind sleeping on the floor, but he knew Rod was deliberately provoking him.
He couldn't understand how a polite and kind newcomer had changed so much in just a few months.
Gray clenched his fists, feeling the urge to fight.
"You two are always causing trouble," Charle said, ignoring them, "Just rest as you like. We'll... Wendy?"
Wendy ran back to the room, diving onto the bed and burying her head in the pillow.
Charle's attention immediately shifted from Rod and Gray.
"Wendy, what's wrong? Did that old man say something mean? I'll go find him right now!"
Charle's temper flared up.
Although she often scolded Wendy for being weak or timid, she was the first to get angry when someone bullied her.
Even the Guild Master was no exception. That old man, Charle would pluck out his beard.
"Charle..."
Wendy's muffled cry made Charle stop in her tracks.
She turned to look at Wendy, who was slowly sitting up and wiping away her tears. "What happened?"
"Master said..." Wendy stammered, occasionally stealing glances at Rod and Gray.
Gray, with his hands in his pockets, suggested, "Let's take a walk outside?"
Rod nodded. "I was just about to say that."
The two, understanding the situation, left Wendy's house and started to explore the area.
As they strolled through the quaint, rustic village, Rod began to question his life choices. Why am I walking down the street with another guy?
Gray suddenly asked, "You seem really concerned about Wendy."
"Of course, she was crying so hard." Rod replied, "Aren't you curious?"
Gray said, "Curiosity won't help. It could be something from the guild or the village, and we can't really pry."
While Gray, Wendy, and Charle got along well, they were still outsiders when it came to village and guild matters.
Rod said, "If it were Happy, he'd probably encourage me to eavesdrop."
Gray added, "If it were Natsu, he'd already be barging into Master's room."
But Rod and Gray were different. They preferred to wait and ask later.
Gray then said, "Let's talk about the mission. Any leads?"
"In this short time? The destination is still over ten kilometers away."
Rod continued, "But the terrain around here matches the map, which is good news."
Gray said, "What I'm really worried about is... meeting the client."
"What's there to worry about... oh, I see."
Rod understood. The client for this mission was the Magic Council, specifically the Third Enforced Capture Unit of the Fiore Branch, led by Captain Kaptin.
Fairy Tail, known for its lawlessness, had a deep-seated fear of the Magic Council.
If they were truly lawless, it wouldn't be a problem, but their conscience often got the better of them.
Because they caused so much trouble, they felt guilty whenever they saw a Council member.
"I'll handle the meeting," Rod said, thinking that he had no criminal record and could speak to them with confidence.
"Thanks, I'd rather not go if I could," Gray replied, but as a team, the guild master had already reported their names, so he had no choice but to show up.
"Mr. Rod, Mr. Gray."
An elderly voice called from behind them, and Rod frowned. He hadn't heard any footsteps.
From the look on Gray's face, he hadn't noticed anyone approaching either.
"Master," they both greeted politely.
"I'm sorry for the simple accommodations in the village," Master said.
Rod replied, "No, we came unannounced."
"You are Wendy and Charle's friends, so it's not an unannounced visit. Foolishness," Master said, "I'm glad Wendy has friends from outside the village. By the way, the welcome feast is almost ready. Please enjoy it at noon."
They thanked him, "Thank you for your hospitality."
The old man seemed to want to say something more but thought better of it and slowly walked away.
He wanted to observe these two young men and learn more about Fairy Tail.
Additionally, their mission location was also a matter of concern.
