Chapter 190: A New Superhero (Third Update)
Chapter 190: A New Superhero (Third Update)
"Have you finished all those magic books?"
Queen Frigga's face showed surprise when she heard Jerry's answer.
After all, the last time Jerry left, he took over twenty magic books with him. For an ordinary mage, one book was enough to study for a long time, but Jerry had managed to finish them all in just three weeks.
However, during their subsequent magic discussion, she learned that not only had Jerry read all twenty books, but he had also understood most of them.
She could only marvel at how, despite his young age and only a few years of magic study, he had already developed magic abilities worthy of Odin's praise.
The human race, though with a short lifespan of barely a century and mostly consisting of mediocre individuals, occasionally produced a few geniuses who even the long-lived divine races found admirable.
"The essence of the Clone Spell is to use your mind to harness the magic power borrowed from the World Tree. Oh, you White Mages borrow from Vishanti, but the principle is the same. Then, you follow a specific incantation and..."
Most of Asgard's magic had similar effects to what Jerry had already learned. Studying their principles only served to enhance the magic he already knew.
For instance, the theories of spatial magic in Asgard's magic greatly benefited him, allowing him to delve deeper into the Traceless Divine Spell, which also required spatial theory.
This also laid a solid foundation for his future study of the Phantom Shift, another spatial magic.
The same applied to other types of magic.
However, there was one category of magic that Jerry currently lacked.
That was illusion magic, especially the magic of creating clones.
In the magic he had learned at Hogwarts, Jerry had never encountered illusion magic. Hogwarts' Transformation spells were physical transformations, not illusions.
While the magic books from the Morgana School did include illusion magic, such as the Illusion Transformation Spell he often used, they did not delve deeply into it.
Illusions, after all, could not cause direct harm or enhance a mage's rank. Therefore, few mages in that world were interested in studying this category of magic.
However, Jerry believed that illusions, especially Asgard's Clone Spell, were very useful.
Creating false clones during battle could confuse enemies and buy time to cast spells. In daily life, clones could help him handle many tasks more efficiently.
Although the clones were false, once he learned the Phantom Shift, he could instantly transfer his true form to the clone's location.
Jerry enjoyed a midday meal of Asgard's unique cuisine, and as evening approached, he and Thor returned to Earth from the Teleportation Hall with a new batch of magic books.
To be honest, although Asgard lacked modern skyscrapers, its exotic landscapes and unique scenery were truly magnificent, unlike anything on Earth.
When he had the time, he definitely wanted to spend more time exploring Asgard and experiencing its various cultural charms.
Perhaps, in the future, when he became even more powerful, he could venture beyond Earth and explore other planets in the universe.
It had been over three weeks since his last visit to Asgard with Thor.
It was seven in the evening.
Jerry, Aisha, Hass, and Teacher Berry were sitting in the living room, eating dinner and watching the news on TV.
"Following the appearance of the wizard, New York has seen a second superhero. He calls himself Thor, wears a mask, and dons a silver suit of armor, wielding a hammer!
Is he the real Thor from mythology, or just an imitator of the mythological Thor?
We have with us the New York Police Department's Chief, George Stacy. Chief, what do you think about Thor's appearance?"
On the TV, a blonde beauty in the upper right corner was showing footage of Thor flying through the air with his hammer, striking down criminals with lightning.
Beside her sat a middle-aged man in a police uniform, the spokesperson for the New York police system.
He picked up the microphone on the table and said with a half-joking tone:
"Cough, it's the 21st century. Does anyone still believe in gods instead of science? I don't think anyone is that gullible. According to our experts, Thor's armor, which looks like that of an ancient warrior, is actually equipped with advanced magnetic levitation devices.
His cape likely conceals small flight devices, and his hammer is just an oversized stun gun. Sometimes things aren't as complicated as you think!"
The blonde journalist clearly wasn't convinced and pressed on aggressively:
"What about the wizard? If mages and magic exist, why can't gods exist?"
The police chief seemed to have anticipated this question and replied calmly:
"Does magic really exist? It's just high-tech tricks, like what David Copperfield does.
He's performed flying, walking through the Great Wall, making a 7-ton jet disappear, and even making the Statue of Liberty vanish, but is he a mage? He's just a very skilled magician!"
The blonde journalist felt that something was off about the police chief's answer but couldn't quite pinpoint how to counter it.
She seemed reluctant and asked one more time:
"If that's the case, why hasn't the police department arrested the wizard and Thor, who are using high-tech devices to fly over New York?"
The police chief shrugged:
"Why arrest them? Even if they're not the real Thor and wizard, they have made significant contributions to New York's safety. Did you know that since the wizard appeared, the city's nighttime crime rate has dropped by seventy percent? Now, with Thor patrolling during the day, New York is on its way to becoming the safest city in the Usa.
Would you want us to arrest these two vigilantes?"
The blonde journalist was speechless.
Thor was still new and didn't have many fans yet, but the wizard had a large following in New York. If she dared to answer, her car tires would probably be slashed tomorrow.
"Fk, liar! Magic must exist, and the wizard uses magic!"
At the dinner table, Aisha, her face angry, pointed at the police chief on the TV.
Teacher Berry immediately looked over, her expression stern:
"Aisha, who taught you to swear?"
Aisha immediately realized she was in trouble, covered her mouth, and pointed at Hass.
Teacher Berry narrowed her eyes at Hass, who, seeing his daughter's pleading gaze, grimaced and reluctantly nodded.
Jerry, seeing this, shook his head with a smile.
Aisha was eleven years old. Though still in her middle-school phase, she understood a lot and had heard her fair share of profanity. It was quite normal.
