Chapter 189: The Executioner
Chapter 189: The Executioner
Before taking action, Karl had one more thing to do.
He found the artificer Lynn at the marketplace and inquired about the heritage magic tool that could release holy light.
"It's not holy light, but a purifying aura with a strong effect against evil spirits and undead creatures," Lynn explained.
Lynn took out a staff with a crystal embedded at its tip and smiled, "It's priced at two thousand magic stones!"
"Two thousand?" Karl's expression darkened. "That's too expensive!"
"This staff isn't of high rank, and the purifying aura isn't that useful. Even a thousand magic stones would be considered a high price."
Lynn shrugged, not denying the price, "That's why I haven't sold it yet. But I believe I'll find the right buyer, like you, my friend."
"I suppose you have a use for it, and the price is just a matter of whether you need it or not."
Karl was speechless.
This guy was trying to swindle him.
"Alright then."
Taking a deep breath, Karl took out twenty mana crystals, "Deal!"
"I knew this item would fetch a high price. It's been worth keeping it for so long," Lynn smiled. "Please take good care of it."
After completing the transaction, Lynn watched Karl's figure disappear into the distance, a strange smile on his face. He took out a magic scroll and wrote a line of text.
'He's here, and the item has been purchased.'
In an instant, a response appeared on the paper.
'Received. Payment will be made later.'
"Swish!"
The magic carpet broke through the clouds and flew away from the direction of the Dream Marketplace.
Karl sat cross-legged on it, looking down at his wizard robe with a helpless shake of his head.
"How many people have tampered with me?"
"I don't remember offending so many people, do I?"
He thought his personality was honest and straightforward, never actively causing trouble.
But after attending a wedding banquet, various tricks had been played on him.
To prevent being followed and disrupting Nina's plan, he hadn't removed the tampering from his body.
Soon after.
"Here they come!"
Sensing their approach, Karl stood up on the magic carpet and casually changed into another wizard robe.
He couldn't guarantee that the alterations on the robe wouldn't affect his performance, so it was better to send it to the Divine Domain Fragment.
"Cannon!"
Two magical auras flew at an astonishing speed from a distance and stopped nearby, revealing two figures.
"You dare to return to the Dream Marketplace?"
"You are..." Karl looked at one of them, "...the Perro family's executioner?"
The visitor was tall and sturdy, with several ferocious scars on his face, making his appearance quite distinctive.
"That's right!"
The man nodded, his face twisting into a sinister smile. The scars on his face contorted with his words, making him even more terrifying.
"I am the executioner they speak of, Ivel. Cannon, you will pay for what you've done!"
"Your people started the trouble..." Karl shook his head, not wanting to dwell on it. "So, it's just the two of you? I thought the clan leader of the Perro family would come personally."
"Dealing with you doesn't require the clan leader's presence," Ivel said coldly.
"I'm more than enough!"
"Is that so?" Karl smiled faintly. "Or is it that he doesn't have the time?"
According to Nina's plan, the clan leader of the Perro family should be detained by the other two great families and wouldn't arrive soon.
As for Karl, he only needed to deal with the executioner Ivel during this time, and the rest would be handled by Nina.
"Hmph!"
Ivel snorted, "We've investigated thoroughly. You were only a first-rank initial wizard, and even if you've reached the first-rank mid-stage, you probably haven't constructed the sixth gate of the first-rank spell."
"Perhaps you have high talent in the path of knighthood, but as long as we keep our distance, there won't be any problems."
"Hunt!"
He called out to his companion, "Attack!"
"Yes!"
Hunt nodded and waved his staff lightly. Suddenly, numerous chains made of flowing water appeared in the air.
First-Rank Spell - Water Cloud Chains! The chains intertwined, forming a net, and Karl was like a fish caught within it.
Although the chains were made of soft flowing water, they had an incredibly terrifying binding force, making it difficult for anyone to break free.
"Swish!"
Ivel waved his hands, and two sharp cleavers flew out with lightning speed, aiming for Karl's neck.
Control Object!
The spell he practiced was not inherited but focused on controlling external objects, somewhat similar to the cultivation techniques Karl remembered.
The cleavers came with ferocious speed and cold light, causing Karl's flesh to tense up instinctively.
"Hmph!"
A clump of water appeared out of thin air.
First-Rank Spell - Tidal Power!
"Boom!"
The cleaver slashed into the water, and it instantly scattered into thousands of tiny cold lights, like fish swimming toward Karl.
Not only did the tidal power fail to affect them, but it also increased their speed.
What the hell?
Nina's intelligence didn't mention this move! Karl's eyes widened, and he formed hand seals while his inner battle energy surged, causing a shadow of a Buddha to appear behind him.
Void Seal! The Thousand Buddha Hands of the Ten-Hand Realm allowed his explosive power to double.
Violent battle energy swept through the surroundings, causing even the void to seem like it was collapsing. Both the chains and the cleavers were distorted.
At the same time.
"Crackle!"
Karl's body flashed with electricity, and he appeared over ten meters away, charging towards Ivel.
First-Rank Spell - Thunder Wings! "Heh..."
Facing the charging Karl, Ivel smirked and tossed out a rune while controlling his magic tool to return.
Mid-Rank First-Tier Rune - Repulsion Spell!
An invisible force enveloped Ivel, like a giant ball, trapping him inside.
Karl charged forward.
The repulsion spell caused Ivel to fly backward on his own.
The faster Karl rushed, the faster Ivel retreated, and the distance between them never closed.
Instead, the returning wizard tool slashed down viciously towards Karl's back.
"Peng!"
Thousand Buddha Hands—Vajra Seal!
The sharp wizard tool felt like it was cutting through a hard diamond, and Karl's body swayed as it flew back with a loud clatter.
"So hard!"
Ivel's face changed slightly:
"No wonder he could kill a late-stage First Ring Wizard. If he got close enough, I might not have been able to escape either."
"But..."
"A knight is still a knight, and their means are far inferior to a wizard's!"
He took out his staff and tapped it towards Karl repeatedly, activating one weakening spell after another.
On the other side.
Hunt unleashed a water clone, hiding his true body among a dozen clones to evade Karl's attacks.
He occasionally launched counterattacks.
For a moment, the situation in the field seemed to reach a stalemate.
Karl couldn't get close to the two of them, and his formidable martial arts were difficult to execute. Their spells also struggled to harm him.
"Shua!"
6◇9◇Book◇Bar
Electric light flashed, and a figure dashed straight towards the dense forest below.
"Chase!"
Ivel gave the order without hesitation:
"We must kill him today."
"Don't worry, I've already sent a message to the clan leader. As long as we keep him here, he's as good as dead once the clan leader arrives!"
Three chasing and two fleeing, they gradually moved away from the Dream Marketplace and stopped at a wide river.
"Cannon!"
Ivel laughed heartily at the sight:
"You can't escape!"
"Heh..."
"Pipa!"
A flash of electricity appeared on Karl's body, and a pair of thunder wings formed from the gathering of lightning opened behind him.
Thunder Wings!
At the same time.
First Ring Spell—Water Spirit!
Zero Ring Spell—Vitalizing Water!
"Boom!"
Karl's eyes widened, and the battle energy, which had been suppressed for so long, erupted without restraint, darkening the surrounding sky.
The terrifying pressure also caused the faces of the two pursuers to change dramatically.
Bad!
"Pipa!"
With a flash of electricity, Karl glided past dozens of meters and appeared not far from Hunt.
Thousand Buddha Hands—Demon Subduing Seal!
"Boom!"
A massive hand seal descended from above, covering an area of over ten square meters. Everything within it shattered at a visible speed.
Clone!
Defensive Spell!
The body that had undergone tempering.
In the face of such an attack, it was like a bubble, easily broken and unable to withstand a single blow.
"Pipa!"
Karl's figure flashed again, his body closing in on Ivel. The palm seal directly sucked the other party towards him.
"Ah!"
Ivel roared towards the sky, and various magical auras emerged.
However,
Useless!
"Peng!"
The palm seal, imbued with immense strength, landed on Ivel's body, instantly turning the outstanding First Ring Wizard into a meat paste.
"Huff..."
Karl exhaled, glancing at the countless cracks on his body and shaking his head lightly.
"Although wizards don't have strong defenses, their offensive means and lethality are astonishing. Even a perfect Bronze Body might not be able to withstand it."
"Going all out, I estimate that I'd need to be within thirty meters to have a chance to kill a late-stage First Ring Wizard."
His thoughts shifted, but his hands didn't slow down. He gathered the remaining corpses in the field and stored them in the Divine Domain Fragment.
Then he stood in mid-air, motionless.
"Cannon!"
In a short while, Nina appeared in the field with several shadows, her face filled with concern.
"Ivel..."
"Dead?"
"Mhm." Karl nodded expressionlessly:
"I've completed the task you asked of me. The rest is up to you all. I'll take my leave now."
He nodded towards the others and, with a flash, dashed towards the distance, disappearing in the blink of an eye.
"Can..."
Nina reached out, wanting to say something, but it was already too late. She could only watch helplessly as Karl departed.
"There were two auras that disappeared, and one of them indeed belonged to Ivel." One person in the field spoke up:
"This Cannon..."
"So strong!"
"He's indeed powerful!" Nina's eyes held a complex expression:
"I thought he'd bring the person here, and we'd deal with him together. I didn't expect him to accomplish it alone."
"And so quickly, too."
The executioner Ivel was no weakling; one could even say he was formidable. Some wizards who had just advanced to the late stage of the First Ring might not be his match.
In the end.
Even with the help of another wizard, they were still killed by Karl in a short moment.
This was far beyond her expectations.
"So what?" The handsome man, Clemons, frowned, his expression showing displeasure:
"If he had stayed, we'd have had a better chance of killing Vaughn. But he chose to run."
"Nina!"
"He didn't care about you at all."
"Forget it." Nina's expression was also unpleasant, and she shook her head with a bitter smile:
"After all, my agreement with him was only for this."
"Understood." Nina nodded heavily:
"If Elder Hag is willing to help, the Walker Family will be eternally grateful."
"Clemons..."
"We'll work together later!"
"Mhm."
Clemons nodded in agreement.
