Chapter 189: Niffler Fishing
Chapter 189: Niffler Fishing
Hermione recalled that during their first Spell Lesson, someone had asked Professor Flitwick if he could alter the Lumos Charm's color to make the wand emit red light.
Professor Flitwick's response was negative, stating that it would change the essence of the spell, and even if it were possible, the incantation would be entirely different, making it essentially a different spell.
Hermione found it hard to believe that Kyle could create a new spell in his second year.
She glanced towards the Hufflepuff direction, where Kyle was chatting and laughing with others.
"Is the gap between wizards really that significant?" Hermione sighed in disappointment.
The banquet began shortly, and Hermione, preoccupied with this matter, didn't even notice what she was eating.
Once, she almost stuffed a candle hanging on the table into her mouth, but fortunately, Harry noticed early and stopped her in time.
However, Kyle remained calm and casually took out the ruby from earlier, waving it around while silently counting in his mind.
"One... two..."
In less than two seconds, Kyle felt his arm sink.
A small, fluffy creature was clinging to his arm, staring intently at the ruby.
It was a Niffler that Kyle had obtained from Newt, and due to concerns about a large-scale theft at Hogwarts, Kyle had kept it locked in his trunk for some time.
It was now the Christmas holiday, and with fewer people in the castle, he could let the Niffler out to play for a while.
After several months, the Niffler had grown significantly larger, and its fur had completely turned black, making it look like a moving Quaffle.
However, this "Quaffle" had been polished to a shine.
Kyle used his other hand to pull the Niffler off his arm, but even so, it still wouldn't let go of the ruby, flailing its tiny legs in mid-air.
"It's pretty fast, no wonder Newt has to look for you every day."
Kyle scratched the Niffler's chin and smiled, "What do you think? Do you like it?"
The Niffler nodded repeatedly, its eyes full of longing as it looked at Kyle.

"You have a good eye. If you like it, take a closer look."
After Kyle finished speaking, the Niffler in his hand suddenly became quiet, and then it struggled more violently, wailing as it did so.
That sound was particularly pitiful.
"Don't talk nonsense. When did I ever say I wanted to give it to you?"
Kyle raised his eyebrows and said, "You're not that young, but you sure have a lot of tricks. This thing is a Philosopher's Stone, and I still have use for it. Just take a look."
... A stone created by magic, also known as a Philosopher's Stone. No problem there.
But the Niffler didn't care. It only knew that the stone was the shiniest thing it had ever seen.
It reached into its own pocket and quickly pulled out a handful of miscellaneous small objects.
A button, a piece of broken glass, several shiny candy wrappers, a few Sickles, and a Galleon.
"I was wondering where the Galleon I put in my pocket the other day went. Turns out you took it." Kyle rubbed the Niffler's head.
He had indeed come here a few days ago, but he hadn't noticed when the Niffler had taken the Galleon.
He had absolutely no sense of it.
And that button... the one used on the clothes the house-elf made for the Troll was of the same type.
How did this little guy manage to unbutton it?
The Niffler struggled for a moment, then reluctantly handed over all the items to Kyle.
Kyle laughed, "Are you trying to trade with me?"
The Niffler nodded.
"Sorry, I refuse. My things are precious. Even if you add all these together, it's not enough."
The Niffler struggled again, letting out an unhappy shriek.
But Kyle just shook his head firmly and threw it away.
After a moment, it ran back to Kyle's arm.
Kyle threw it again, and it came back...
Eventually, Kyle tied a string to the stone and started playing a game of 'fishing' for the Niffler in their dormitory.
It was actually much more fun than fishing.
