Chapter 189: Instructing in the Lightning Breath
Chapter 189: Instructing in the Lightning Breath
Mu Yue spent two hours teaching Stop Water with his main body before switching with his shadow clone. The main body went to teach Kakashi and the others, while the clone continued teaching Stop Water.
Although Stop Water had the most potential and was a gold mine of talent, Mu Yue wouldn't show any favoritism in his teaching. He would ensure that everyone received equal attention and guidance.
Returning to Kakashi's group, Mu Yue used his Appraisal Technique to check their data. He found that Kakashi and Obito already had some proficiency in Yin Release, but Obito's skill was very low, only at one point. Might Guy, on the other hand, hadn't even reached that level yet.
This came as no surprise to Mu Yue; after all, this was the same Might Guy who couldn't master the Shadow Clone Technique even with a month of training under a teacher's guidance.
With the enhanced guidance of Mu Yue's main body, Kakashi's skill in Yin Release nature transformation quickly improved. In just two hours, his proficiency soared from three points to ten.
Obito also made progress, advancing from one point to three, while Might Guy finally achieved a breakthrough, attaining that first point of proficiency.
Mu Yue was pleased with their progress, as having some level of proficiency meant that they had a chance to master the technique, even if it would take a lot more time and effort.
In the afternoon, Mu Yue didn't have Might Guy continue with nature transformation training. Instead, he had him focus on cultivating the Eight Inner Gates.
In reality, for Might Guy's current situation, cultivating the Eight Inner Gates was the most crucial aspect of his training.
The reason why the Rock Breathing's mottled state was so powerful when used by Might Guy was that he could cultivate the Eight Inner Gates to an extremely high level. This would give him a vast amount of chakra to fuel the Rock Breathing technique.
Imprecise control of one's aura was also a significant drain on chakra, and Mu Yue knew that even if Might Guy learned to use his aura now, it wouldn't be of much use in actual combat without the support of the Eight Inner Gates to provide him with the necessary chakra.
As for Kakashi and Obito, their afternoon training still focused on Yin Release nature transformation.
Nature transformation was something that was relatively easy to learn but incredibly difficult to master. Mu Yue noticed that some of the Jonin-level teachers also possessed Yin Release nature transformation abilities, but their skills were only at the beginner level, and their proficiency was not particularly high. Essentially, they had only learned some simple illusion techniques.
Based on Kakashi's rapid progress, Mu Yue estimated that it would take him around seven days to attain a basic level of proficiency in Yin Release nature transformation.
The proficiency level from uninitiated to initiated was one hundred points. While Kakashi could increase his proficiency by ten points in a single morning, nature transformation became increasingly challenging as one progressed, and it wasn't as simple as gaining ten points every four hours of training.
As for Obito, Mu Yue predicted that it might take him around twenty days, but when it came to Might Guy, Mu Yue couldn't even make an estimate—it might take several months.
As the afternoon training session was coming to an end, Mu Yue created a shadow clone and sent it to the special training ground that had been used during the holiday training. He had previously promised Anko Mitarashi and the others that he would visit them when he had the time.
His main body was indeed very busy, as he had to use his Teacher System skills to accelerate his students' learning of ninjutsu, and he couldn't afford to be away from them. However, creating a single shadow clone to check in on the others was not a problem.
When Mu Yue arrived at the training ground, the session was also coming to a close, and the students were starting to take a rest.
Mu Yue scanned the area and spotted Anko lying on the ground, so he walked over to her.
"How's the special training going?" Mu Yue asked with a smile.
Anko, who had been dozing with her eyes closed, instantly woke up at the sound of Mu Yue's familiar and comforting voice. When she opened her eyes and confirmed that it was indeed Mu Yue, she immediately hugged his leg and complained, "Teacher Mu Yue, special training isn't the same without you! It's like a strawberry cake without strawberries—it loses its whole purpose!"
Mu Yue bent down, ruffled Anko's hair affectionately, and then helped her up to sit on the grass. Smiling, he asked, "What happened? Why is it that special training suddenly can't be done without me?"
Anko's voice drew the attention of some of the students nearby. Since most of the participants in this training session were the same as the last one, everyone gathered around Mu Yue upon recognizing him.
"Those teachers don't teach as well as you, Teacher Mu Yue," Anko continued. "Not only are they not as good, but they also assign us a ton of training tasks without allowing any breaks in between. It's been frustrating!"
Anko poured out all the frustrations she had been feeling over the past few days.
Anko's words opened the floodgates, and many students began to voice their own grievances. Mu Yue listened to them all with a smile.
To be honest, he wasn't too surprised. He had expected as much from these teachers.
After the last special training session, Mu Yue had been promoted to a special jonin by the Third Hokage, and the teachers chosen for this session were some of the more capable instructors from the Ninja Academy.
On their own, they might not dare to compare themselves to Mu Yue, but as a group, they believed that their combined efforts would at least match his.
Even if they couldn't replicate Mu Yue's success and become special jonin, they were confident about getting a promotion and a raise.
However, reality was cruel. Not only did Mu Yue possess the Teaching System, but even without it, his teaching abilities and extensive practical experience with high-level skills would still far surpass those of the jonin-level teachers. Moreover, Mu Yue had also learned how to be an effective teacher in the previous world he had been in.
Whether it was ninja knowledge or pedagogical skills, these jonin instructors couldn't hold a candle to Mu Yue.
When they realized that they might not be able to produce the desired results, they panicked and resorted to increasing the training intensity, thinking that more training would lead to better results. However, their combined efforts still fell short of what Mu Yue had achieved single-handedly, and this was with the benefit of his prior success to build upon.
The students, feeling frustrated, naturally gravitated towards Mu Yue, forming a circle around him. This drew the attention of even more students, who came over to join the gathering.
At first, they had just been curious onlookers, but upon recognizing Mu Yue, they eagerly joined the conversation.
The larger the group became, the faster it grew as more and more students made their way over. Eventually, most of the students had gathered around Mu Yue.
"What are you all doing gathered here? Get back to your classes!" One of the jonin teachers noticed the commotion and scolded the students.
"It's almost the end of class anyway. Let's just let them have some free time," Mu Yue interjected.
The jonin teacher then spotted Mu Yue sitting among the students, many of whom were standing, blocking the teacher's line of sight.
"Oh, it's Director Mu Yue. You're right, let's all take a break and relax," the teacher said with a smile.
As an ambitious teacher himself, he admired Mu Yue. In less than a year, Mu Yue had risen through the ranks, not only advancing his position within the Ninja Academy but also being promoted from a jonin to a special jonin.
Mu Yue continued chatting with the students, and even after the class ended, many of them stayed behind to continue the conversation.
"I won't be able to join the holiday training for this term as I have other responsibilities to attend to. As for the future, it's not up to me. It depends on the Third Hokage's arrangements, but I would like to continue leading these special training sessions," Mu Yue explained in response to the students' questions.
After Might Guy and the others graduated, Mu Yue planned to take a break from mentoring interns for a while, as Itachi would only be in his second year, and there was still time.
"I'll talk to the other special training teachers and see if we can come up with a more reasonable training plan," Mu Yue assured them with a smile.
After the pleasant surprise the students had given him at the end of the last training session, Mu Yue was happy to lend a helping hand.
"Teacher Mu Yue is the best!" Anko exclaimed. She decided that if Mu Yue wasn't going to be the instructor for the next special training session, she wouldn't attend. As a fourth-year student, she had the option to opt-out.
The next day.
In the morning, Mu Yue continued to guide Kakashi, Obito, and Might Guy in their Yin Release nature transformation training, while Shisui practiced his Armament Haki. In the afternoon, Mu Yue began instructing Kakashi in the Lightning Breath.
The reason he hadn't started the day before was that the Teaching System only allowed him to return a disciple once per day, and he wanted to wait and claim the reward for another day.
