Chapter 189: Despicable Me (Fourteen)
Chapter 189: Despicable Me (Fourteen)
With sixteen minutes left before the poison’s effects would activate, Feng Bu Jue finally obtained the modified Contra Medal, painstakingly reworked by Bi Li, Ao Er Deng, and La Bit. The item’s core effects remained unchanged, but its "Can it be taken out of the scenario?" status had been toggled to "Yes", though its quantity had been reduced to a single medal.
With tangible benefits secured, Feng Bu Jue’s face lit up with satisfaction. He picked up the one-shot pistol from the table and said, “One last thing to confirm—just in case, I mean… if Fast kills me the moment I step out, this medal will revive me on the spot, right?”
“Correct,” La Bit replied. “As long as you carry the medal, it will activate immediately upon death, restoring you to full strength. Whether you die inside or outside this room, within the Prison or even on another Pillar God’s territory, the effect will trigger.”
Bi Li added, “Don’t worry—we’ll follow you out when you open the door. We’ll block Fast’s attacks. Just aim your gun at him and pull the trigger. I’ll keep channeling maximum destructive power into the bullets. One shot will be enough.”
Ao Er Deng chimed in, “After you kill him, take the Potion and teleport away. We’ll break free from the reincarnation cycle and escape the Prison.”
Bi Li concluded, “Then we’ll go our separate ways. No debts, no grudges.”
“Perfect. Exactly what I wanted,” Feng Bu Jue smiled, summarizing, “Granted, you initially manipulated me through deception, but I assume that was just a product of mutual distrust and misunderstanding… Now, we’ve clarified our goals and struck a win-win deal. From your words and actions, I believe you’re all ten-point honest and honorable gentlemen. You wouldn’t pull the kind of backstab I feared earlier, right?”
“Enough already!” La Bit snapped impatiently. “Do you have some sort of victim complex? Time’s running out, you’ve got your compensation—just do what you’re supposed to!”
“No problem. Let’s move.” Feng Bu Jue turned around and froze. The four corridor entrances had vanished, replaced by a blank wall. In its center stood a single, massive door.
“Don’t be startled,” Bi Li’s voice echoed as the iron door creaked open. “The space’s appearance and size were always just illusions.”
Feng Bu Jue glanced sideways. The puppet had mysteriously appeared on a small tricycle, pedaling slowly toward him. La Bit and Ao Er Deng stood behind, watching silently, waiting for the outworld traveler to open the door.
Feng Bu Jue gave each of the three a sidelong glance, shrugged, and strode forward.
…………
The door swung open. One human and three monsters filed into a monotonous gray expanse.
Fast stood about ten meters away. His form resembled a man clad in ancient Roman armor. His armor, skin, pupils, and hair were all cement-gray. If not for his neck twisting toward them, he’d seem like a statue.
“As expected…” Fast said. “Outworld traveler, you’ve sided with the prisoners?”
“Oh?” Feng Bu Jue immediately inferred much from this. “So you, like them, obtained the Potion before I entered the Prison and knew my situation?”
“Correct,” Fast replied. “I also guessed you’d end up on their side. By yourself, seizing the Potion from them and finding the exit would’ve been impossible.” He paused. “So… no matter what happened inside, you’d inevitably confront me here.”
“Glad we understand each other.” Feng Bu Jue raised his gun, his eyes blazing with murderous intent, his grip ironclad.
Bang—the gunshot cracked.
La Bit’s head exploded in a spray of gore.
Everyone except Feng Bu Jue wore stunned expressions. Even Fast mentally gasped: What the hell?!
Before the echoes faded, Feng Bu Jue pivoted, aiming at Bi Li. This time, he fired in rapid succession, unleashing multiple rounds. Bi Li reacted swiftly despite his shock, making the gun vanish mid-air. The bullets veered off course—but not all.
At this close range, Bi Li’s physical combat skills were nearly nonexistent. Feng Bu Jue’s betrayal came utterly unannounced. A bullet tore through Bi Li’s right abdomen, wounding him.
“You…” Bi Li snarled furiously. “Ao Er Deng! Kill him—”
He never finished. A surge of apocalyptic malevolence erupted from Feng Bu Jue’s body, silencing even a monster of Bi Li’s caliber.
“Heh… looks like it worked,” Feng Bu Jue sneered. The moment the pistol vanished, he activated his ultimate technique—Evil King’s Flame: Black Dragon Wave.
Feng Bu Jue’s Spirit Arts Proficiency was E-ranked, giving a 40% success rate. But with the Ice Alchemist’s Perseverance boosting all active skills by 10%, his odds balanced to 50-50.
Obsidian-black energy erupted from his right arm, engulfing his entire body in swirling vortexes. The Black Dragon Wave loomed, uncoiling.
This ultimate technique of pure malevolence radiated oppressive tension even before launching. Disregarding the user’s rank, the technique’s raw power was peerless.
Feng Bu Jue planted his legs in a horse stance, left hand gripping his right shoulder, right arm thrust forward in a clawed palm. A dragon’s roar erupted. The energy-formed Black Flame Dragon surged forth, maw agape, devouring the puppet on the tricycle in one strike.
This technique—blazing fast, unrelenting, and homing—trapped Bi Li before it even launched. Even Ao Er Deng beside him froze.
Your item Contra Medal has been consumed.
This time, the medal was truly spent. The Black Dragon Wave consumed 100% of Feng Bu Jue’s vitality—a cost resulting in a devastating blow. Bi Li, already weakened, was obliterated, leaving no remains.
As Feng Bu Jue perished in the black flames, he revived instantly, restored to full strength. With a smug smirk, he faced the last survivor—Ao Er Deng.
“Before you recklessly charge in, burning with rage…” Feng Bu Jue slowly retreated, shamelessly positioning himself beside Fast. “Perhaps reconsider the current situation,” he chuckled. “I remember Bi Li said among your trio, only he could surpass Fast at full strength. So… if I were you, I wouldn’t throw my life away. I’d retreat into the Prison instead, preparing for the monster that’ll respawn soon.”
Fast seemed to grasp the situation belatedly. He turned to Feng Bu Jue beside him and said sincerely, “You really are cunning…”
“You deceived, tricked, and used us…” Ao Er Deng gritted his teeth.
“You were the ones who started it,” Feng Bu Jue replied. “But you weren’t good enough, so you failed. I simply showed you the right way to do it.”
“You even used the gun we gave you, the medal we awarded you, to defeat us…”
“Hmm… You really are all honest, noble, and respectable gentlemen,” Feng Bu Jue said. “During our negotiations, you practically spilled everything I wanted to know—my abilities, how these items work, even the comparison of strength between you and Fast. And you even gave me what I wanted first, giving me full confidence to execute this plan.”
“You despicable, vile, evil…” Ao Er Deng, even while cursing, meticulously maintained proper and civilized language, apparently programmed to avoid vulgarities.
“That’s enough, Ao Er Deng,” Fast interrupted. “Your conflict with this otherworldly traveler doesn’t concern me. But I have my duty. Now, I order you back to your cell. Otherwise, I’ll have to personally escort you there.”
Ao Er Deng’s sapphire-blue eyes dimmed. His gaze lingered on Feng Bu Jue for a long time, as if etching this person’s image into his retinas. After a dozen seconds, he reluctantly retreated into the Prison, and the massive gates sealed shut…
“Phew…” Feng Bu Jue exhaled deeply once Ao Er Deng left. Before drawing his next breath, he pragmatically turned to Fast. “Excuse me, that ‘mysterious Chemical Potion’ in your hand…”
“Understood… understood…” Fast extended a hand, passing the Potion to Feng Bu Jue.
As Feng Bu Jue accepted the item, a system prompt appeared:
【Main Quest Progress Update】
【Retrieve Chemical Potion (4/4)】
【Current Task Completed, Main Quest Updated】
The new task on the Game Menu read: 【Mix Unidentified Chemical Potions (A)(B)(C)(D) into an Antidote to Neutralize Toxin】
The System voice paused for two seconds before continuing: 【Would you like to Combine Specific Task Items?】
Feng Bu Jue tapped Confirm on the pop-up menu. The other three Potions in his satchel vanished instantly, while the one in his hand radiated white light. After data reorganization, it transformed into a new item: the Antidote.
Feng Bu Jue didn’t drink the potion immediately. Instead, he said to Fast, “Hey, big brother, I just helped you stop this prison break. Don’t you want to show some appreciation?” He looked up at Fast as he spoke.
But the jailer before him had frozen in place like a statue. Examining closer, Fast had truly become a sculpture.
“You didn’t help me at all. You only helped yourself,” Fast’s voice came from another direction.
Feng Bu Jue turned his head. Another Fast, radiating silver light, approached.
“No matter which side you stand on, they can never escape,” the new Fast said. “They’re just repeatedly coming here to kill my clay doppelgänger.”
“You…” Feng Bu Jue’s expression shifted slightly. “I understand now… There was never a Time Lord’s incantation. From start to finish, it was all your doing.”
“Hmph… Of course,” Fast scoffed. “How could the Master entrust prison security to a jailer weaker than the prisoners?” He walked to Feng Bu Jue, patting the gray, identical sculpture. “This clay duplicate was made from special magical materials… My true strength is naturally no weaker than Bi Li’s. Individually, none of them could defeat me. But… if the three of them teamed up, it would become troublesome…”
“So you set this trap…” Feng Bu Jue took a few steps, tilting his head to observe the gray Fast sculpture. “Does killing this clay copy steal their power?”
Fast’s gaze followed Feng Bu Jue, slightly turning his body to face the Prison gate. “Actually… it doesn’t matter who destroys the clay figure. As long as it’s damaged, everyone within the ‘Gate Space’ loses their power,” Fast explained. “That’s why I’ve been fighting them remotely from outside this space, while they naively believed this clay puppet was me. Heh… Every time they ‘kill’ it, their strength returns to a feeble state. Then, the real me can effortlessly return them to their cells.”
“After several repetitions, they’d naturally question this phenomenon…” Feng Bu Jue added.
“Exactly,” Fast continued. “So I fabricated the ‘Cycle of Rebirth’ theory. I told them it was the Time Lord’s incantation. No matter how many times they kill me, it’s useless—they’re merely trapped in a new rebirth cycle.” He spread his hands. “This method solved their frequent escape attempts. As for the rest of my duties, it’s quite easy—just occasionally throw a monster into their cell to keep them ‘company.’”
“Hmm…” Feng Bu Jue licked his lips. “Looks like… if we’re talking about cunning, you’re quite skilled too.”
“Is that a jab at me?” Fast snorted coldly. “Hmph… Compared to you, my deceitfulness seems lacking.”
“Hehehe… Hahahaha…” Feng Bu Jue threw his head back, laughing maniacally.
Suddenly, his laughter cut off. A menacing grin froze on his face. “No… Not just a little lacking. You’re far behind.”
At that moment, Fast’s expression turned stunned. He abruptly felt piercing coldness across multiple body parts—dark shadows had bound his neck, wrists, knees…
“Better not move. Your blood is now flowing through my veins,” Ao Er Deng’s voice whispered in Fast’s ear.
Simultaneously, the creaking sound of a tricycle approached from behind…
Puppet Bi Li rode his tricycle up to Fast, lifting his sinister face to ask calmly, “Have you ever been kicked by a fuzzy animal using its hind legs?”
“What…” As Fast heard this, he realized something and turned his head…
La Bit had already leapt two meters high, spinning midair. With its muscular rabbit hind legs, it delivered a spinning kick straight at Fast’s face, roaring loudly: “Hyah—”
