Chapter 187: Continue the Heist!
Chapter 187: Continue the Heist!
On the open sea, the Death Omen sailed smoothly as Lily stood on the deck, her face solemn as she faced the direction of Seven Waters City.
The atmosphere aboard the ship was eerie.
On the deck, Renee sat in one spot, flipping through a stack of blueprints, with the word 'Puluton' on the top cover.
These were the design blueprints for the ancient weapon 'Pluto' that had been found in Sag's cloak.
Compared to the design map of Seven Waters City that Renee had personally obtained, these blueprints were far more important. Yet, at this moment, she was flipping through them perfunctorily, her eyes vacant and her mind clearly elsewhere.
The pirates who were carrying barrels out from the ship's cabin were doing so with light steps and utmost caution, afraid to make even the slightest sound.
However, the more cautious one is, the more mistakes they tend to make.
Bang!
One of the pirates stumbled, nearly falling to the ground, and the barrel he was holding rolled away from him, tumbling across the deck.
He stood there as if he had just committed an unforgivable sin, frozen and not daring to move a muscle.
Renee looked up, her face stern as she snapped, "Are you trying to be so clumsy that I'll have to throw you into the sea and let the seawater clear your brain? Do you want me to let the sea beasts chase you so that you'll finally learn to be quick on your feet?"
"I-I'm sorry, Lady Renee!" The pirate stuttered, his eyes closed as he shouted in fear.
"That's enough, Letti,"
Marika emerged from the banquet hall on the first floor, followed by several chefs pushing food carts. She smiled gently at the terrified subordinate and said, "You're doing a great job. Knowing that everyone is tired, you wanted to get them something to drink, thinking of what's best for the crew. Now, come and eat something to get rid of your fatigue together."
"Yes! Lady Marika!"
The pirate was nearly in tears.
Indeed, only Lady Marika could be the crew's goddess!
"Hmph!"
Renee snorted and put away the blueprints. "I don't want to look at these anymore! They're annoying!"
"Letti, don't be so irritable,"
Marika ruffled her hair gently and whispered, "We've just finished the heist in Seven Waters City, and Sag isn't here yet. Everyone is on edge."
"I know, but I can't help it!" Renee took a deep breath, trying to suppress the irritability within her. "We still haven't heard from Sag!"
"Don't worry,"
Hawkins stood up from his position at the ship's head and walked towards the center of the deck. "I've performed divination repeatedly, and Sag's chances of survival are 90%. The probability of his death is too small."
"Instead of standing here brooding, we should be thinking about our next move."
He looked at Lily, who had her back turned to them, and asked, "The captain isn't here, so it should be up to you to give the orders. Do you want to return to Seven Waters City?"
Lily, who had been staring at the sea, turned her head and replied calmly, "We can't go to Seven Waters City now. When Sag threw us out of the ship, a man suddenly appeared. He was incredibly fast, and no one could react in time. If we encounter any accidents now, and Sag manages to escape, that would be a real problem."
"Sag has the ship's Den Den Mushi number, so if he escapes, he'll definitely call. We just need to wait for his call. But to prevent any unforeseen issues, we should continue with Sag's plan and rob the other worthwhile places along this shipping lane. We'll create a ruckus, and even if Sag is unlucky enough to not find the Den Den Mushi, he'll still be able to locate us based on the noise we make."
But the main reason...
Lily bit her lip, there were some things she couldn't say.
That incredibly fast man and the one who had made Hawkins break out in a cold sweat back then were definitely high-ranking Navy officials. And if things turned out as she expected...
They were definitely admirals.
If Sag was only a Vice Admiral, he wouldn't have been able to achieve such a feat.
If Sag is still alive, the outcome wouldn't be too unexpected.
Regardless of whether the newspaper gets published or not, Lily must stabilize the morale of the crew.
For now, we'll continue with Sag's plan and commit more robberies. This will keep the restless crew occupied while I figure out our next move.
This was the solution Lily came up with after careful consideration.
She gripped the hilt of her sword with her left hand and addressed the crowd, "With Sag gone, I'll be temporarily taking command of this ship. Any objections?"
Her gaze fell primarily on Hawkins.
Pirates, by nature, tend to fall apart soon after losing their captain.
This is a common issue among pirate crews; they either go into complete hiding or start anew, forming a new pirate crew.
However, there are always those who remain loyal.
Out of everyone on board, Lily was confident that a significant number would choose to stay.
The core members from the East Blue days would never leave.
As for the three hundred demons that Sag recruited in the Country of Anu, they wouldn't abandon ship either.
But the rest were a wildcard.
Especially Hawkins.
He was a newcomer to the crew, and with a substantial bounty on his head, his allegiance was uncertain. The amicable relationship they had developed was likely due to Sag's presence.
This man respects Sag, but the same might not be true for the rest of us.
"Stop looking at me like that," Hawkins said nonchalantly. "I've already betrayed my own ship once. My pride won't allow me to betray another crew, even if my divination tells me that the odds of leaving and forming a new crew are 97%. I won't do it."
Like Lily, there was something Hawkins wasn't saying.
His divination had shown him that Sag was still alive.
However, it also indicated that Sag's chances of escaping successfully were a mere 0.1%.
It was highly unlikely.
In the Country of Anu, he had been influenced by Sag and learned that odds weren't everything. Yet, he knew those people.
Aside from the Admiral Aokiji, the man who had suddenly appeared was most likely Admiral Kizaru.
Two Admirals and a hero of the Navy... There was no way Sag could have escaped them.
But Hawkins had no intention of leaving either.
He had already made a choice based on the highest probability once, and this time, he refused to make the same decision.
As long as the Catastrophe Pirate Group hasn't officially disbanded, I will remain its chief of staff!
Lily nodded slightly, releasing her grip on the sword hilt, "In that case, we'll continue with our original plan and commit more robberies. Let's create some noise and cause a ruckus!"
"Yes, Lady Lily!"
Ajin's voice rang out, his sharp eyes sweeping across the other pirates on the deck. "I'll make sure to keep the situation on the ship under control!"
Any pirate who wanted to leave was free to do so, as long as they were a regular crew member. This was Captain Sag's policy.
But if anyone dared to cause trouble on the ship...
They would have to get past him first!
If Captain Sag returns and finds that the crew has fallen into disarray in his absence, he would surely be disappointed!
"Blub blub blub."
Just then, a pirate came rushing out of the control room, stumbling down the stairs to the deck while holding a buzzing Den Den Mushi.
"Lady Lily, it's a ca-"
Before he could finish, Lily was already by his side, taking the receiver from his hand. "This is Lily speaking."
However, the Den Den Mushi didn't project Sag's arrogant and reckless face; instead, it showed a strange-looking man with an eight-character long beard.
"This is Jabura," the man introduced himself.
Jabura? CP9?
Lily was taken aback for a moment before she recovered, "Speak."
"Please give me your location. All of us in CP9 have been betrayed and are now being pursued by the Navy. Lucci has been severely injured. As fellow crew members, we're asking you to take us in," Jabura pleaded.
CP9 had been framed by Spandam for the destruction of Enies Lobby and had since been dismissed.
