Chapter 186: Deadly Technique
Chapter 186: Deadly Technique
While Kuro had remained at the Encircling Wall, it certainly wasn't to block pirates from entering the plaza—the Wall had already accomplished that. His true purpose here was to execute the remaining phase of his plan.
Now, the sea surged beneath his feet. Whitebeard and his crew stood precariously on a small patch of ice.
Kuro extended his hand, palm downward into the water.
"What are you planning?!" Tarakaji felt an ominous chill. This Navy officer floating above the sea exuded a perilous aura.
"Poison Snake."
The seawater beneath Kuro's outstretched hand roared to life, erupting into colossal whirlpools that lashed toward Whitebeard.
Whitebeard's seismic fist shattered the water cyclones, sending shockwaves crashing into the Encircling Wall. The impact left a massive dent, and Kuro caught faint cries of panic from Marines hiding behind the Wall. Though the structure held, the tremors claimed countless Marine lives.
For a Monster of this caliber, sheer numbers were meaningless.
"But this ends now. Your death benefits everyone. Lion Majesty!"
Boom!
Suddenly, a shadow engulfed him.
Oz thrust himself upward, bending his legs to rise halfway, then twisted his body to strike Kuro from behind.
"You should be lying still when told!"
Kuro seized his sword hilt, ready to sever the incoming arm.
"Sea Current Over-the-Shoulder Throw!"
A jet of water erupted from the waves, aiming straight for Kuro.
He frowned, fingers twitching. The massive jet disintegrated into droplets that hovered around him like suspended pearls.
"Gyo Crush!"
A sudden figure launched from the sea, delivering a straight punch toward Kuro.
"Shigan!"
Bang!!
The Fishman's fist slammed against Kuro's drawn blade, unleashing a shockwave that rippled the surrounding sea into a small vortex. Droplets scattered between them.
Kuro gripped Autumn Water, his blade trembling under the Fishman's punch. His expression darkened. "Still interfering now, Jinbei?!"
"I couldn't stand idly by!"
Jinbei's free hand swept through the lingering droplets. "Tekkai: Gunsen!"
The water bullets rocketed toward Kuro, but dispersed harmlessly against his face, breaking into mist.
"The elements I control aren't so easily stolen. Slash Wave!"
Kuro smirked, then drove his sword upward against Jinbei's fist. A golden arc slashed across the Fishman, sending him tumbling into the sea.
"Predictable..."
Jinbei surfaced, his face grim. "So you're the one manipulating the falling seawater. What terrifying strength."
A master of Fishman Karate, Jinbei specialized in using seawater for attacks. Yet every technique dissolved near Kuro, as if controlled by an invisible force.
"Why waste effort when you know it's futile?" Kuro taunted.
"My purpose was fulfilled." Jinbei grinned, eyes lifting to the sky.
Above, a figure descended toward the base of the Encircling Wall, clearly visible now—Luffy, soaring downward.
Kuro sighed, fingers tightening. "Why persist? Staying put would've kept him safe from Garp's wrath. But if he insists on leaving..."
Whoosh!
He slashed backward. Golden light struck Oz's rising form, carving a gaping wound across his chest before sending him crashing down. Kuro raised his hand, clenching his fist. "Now for the easier part—Lion's Roar: Imperial Palace Scroll!"
The sea erupted. Tons of water surged upward, inundating the Whitebeard Pirates.
"The seawater's rising!"
"Impossible! Why a tsunami here?!"
"Help!"
The wave swallowed pirates adrift on the surface. Even Whitebeard was submerged in the sudden deluge. Every pirate inside the Encircling Wall was engulfed by the monstrous surge.
Kuro ascended, lifting a colossal mass of seawater that coalesced into a roaring lion's head high above.
The sea level within the Wall dropped momentarily, only to be refilled by surrounding waves.
"Just seawater..." Jinbei swam within the watery prison. While Whitebeard's captains like Marco and Jozu, both Devil Fruit users, could slice through the water, Bissta—the non-Devil Fruit user—had strength enough to breach it too.
But then Kuzan leapt skyward, intercepting the falling Luffy. His palm extended downward. "Ice Age!"
A pillar of ice shot from his hand, engulfing the entire water lion in frost.
"Dad!" Luffy twisted midair, staring in disbelief at the frozen leviathan.
"Nani?!" Crocodile, having entered the Wall earlier through his Logia form, had just dispatched Ace's executioners. Now his face turned thunderous.
Whitebeard frozen so easily?!
That airborne ice lion was Sengoku's true strategy.
Earlier seawater had been the prelude. With the Wall activated, Kuro raised the sea, then Kuzan froze it—a coordinated takedown.
Ice overrode Kuro's control. The sculpture teetered, ready to crash into the sea.
Once it shattered, the Whitebeard Pirates would be annihilated!
Oz's colossal body crumpled, finally useless. Within Marine Headquarters' bay, Whitebeard's grave would be sealed.
Sengoku's eyes locked on the falling ice lion. One more moment, and his plan would succeed!
The Grand Line would lose its most fearsome pirate. The Marines' prestige would soar. Peace would take another step forward.
And his own legacy would end, ready to be passed to the new generation.
Crack.
As the ice lion descended, a fissure split its mouth. The fracture spread, consuming the entire sculpture.
Boom!!!
Ice shattered, raining droplets into the sea. From the wreckage burst a ship wrapped in a coated membrane. Within that protective layer stood all the Whitebeard Pirates, affiliated crews clinging to rails or crammed onto decks.
The vessel soared downward from the sky, landing with a thunderous crash before Oz.
Kuro exhaled smoke, his face darkening.
"Another Coated Ship?!"
He hadn't anticipated this.
Memories of the past had grown hazy over time.
Had Whitebeard truly hidden another ship?
