Chapter 186: As Expected
Chapter 186: As Expected
Having passed the third trial, the fourth and final test would assess their unique talents and abilities.
Wang Si's physical prowess and Na Er's mental fortitude earned them both perfect scores.
When it was Na Na Li's turn, her spirit soul only displayed the trait of "Mental Assault", resulting in an average performance.
For the fourth trial, an instructor from the academy examined each student's spirit soul. Wang Si presented his half-formed Golden Dragon King spirit soul, impressing the elderly examiner, who was ostensibly frail but actually a member of the Sea God Pavilion of Shrek Academy.
She clicked her tongue in admiration at Wang Si's spirit soul. She then expressed her intention to test Wang Si's strength.
Wang Si, in his "simplicity," punched forward with all his might, only to be knocked flying by the examiner's own punch, as expected.
The concerned Na Er and Na Li rushed to the knocked-down Wang Si.
After a brief exchange, Wang Si nonchalantly sat down and began devouring a delicious roast chicken, justifying it as a means to replenish the energy he had expended with his previous punch.
Next up was Na Er, her expression clearly displeased with the examiner. She offered a slight nod instead of a polite bow.
"Then, let's begin," Na Er said.
Unfazed by the young girl's rudeness, the old examiner narrowed her eyes and leaned back in her chair. "Proceed."
Na Er's eyes sparkled, and three soul rings rose from beneath her feet—all purple.
Just as Zhen Hua had predicted, Wang Si and Na Er were guaranteed entrants to Shrek Academy. This was no empty promise.
Na Er's hands flipped in front of her, and a dull yellow light blossomed in her palms.
The yellow light appeared dense and heavy—the earth element.
The condensed earth element began to rotate slowly in her palm, gradually solidifying.
The solid mass of earth element began to resemble a physical object.
This display of elemental control was a testament to her mental fortitude and ability to stabilize her control over the element. The old examiner nodded subtly, unimpressed—yet.
What happened next, however, began to challenge her perception.
Na Er held the solid yellow mass of energy in her left hand while her right hand gracefully caressed it with five fingers.
The earth element slowly separated under her control, eventually forming a nine-petaled yellow flower.
The nine-petaled flower of the yellow element rotated slowly, its solidity pleasing to behold.
Spirit souls with elemental attributes were already rare, and for someone so young to control an element to this degree demonstrated exceptional mental strength and stability in her element manipulation.
At that moment, Na Er's right hand reached out and grabbed at thin air.
Something strange happened—specks of blue light began to appear in the air.
These blue lights converged towards her palm, coalescing into a ball of blue energy that quickly accumulated and transformed into a blue orb in her hand.
Water element energy.
Na Er placed the water element energy onto the previous yellow orb, and petals began to unfold from it as well.
The water element flower overlapped with the earth element flower, and the two rotated in sync.
The blue water element flower and the yellow earth element flower intertwined, radiating a dazzling light.
As Na Er performed this intricate maneuver, the three soul rings on her body alternated in their flashing, indicating the activation of different abilities.
Was this her limit? Apparently not, as the demonstration wasn't over yet.
Na Er's right hand reached out and grabbed at thin air once more.
This time, the airflow in the room gently surged, converging into specks of green light that gathered in her palm.
Wind element energy.
Different attributes posed a significant challenge, as the effects of the soul rings could be quite disruptive. Thus, having multiple elements wasn't necessarily advantageous.
Typically, soul masters couldn't control this many elements, as the invasion of multiple elements into the body could cause severe damage.
As Na Er made the motion of grabbing at thin air once more, the air became frenzied, and flickers of crimson light swirled in her palm.
Fire element energy.
The fire element energy gradually condensed into a ball of fire, and beads of sweat began to form on Na Er's forehead.
However, her eyes remained calm, and there was a hint of playful resignation in her expression, as if pretending to be helpless was more exhausting than controlling the elements.
The old woman leaned forward, her eyes now alight with excitement.
Was this control over the four elements? And such basic elements, too?
Na Er's ability to manipulate these elements had already won over the old woman.
Her initial purpose for being here had been simple: to teach a lesson to the bully who had picked on her fellow Shrek Academy students during the competition.
But now...
...
Na Er's hand reached out towards the empty air for the sixth time.
The old woman had stood up, unable to contain her excitement. To be able to control six different types of elemental energy! Speckles of bright silver energy gathered towards Na Er's right hand—the spatial attribute, the most unstable of energies.
This time, Na Er didn't condense them but made them swirl around the multicolored petals.
"Catch!"
Na Er withdrew her gaze and looked up at the old woman, unable to suppress the smile tugging at her lips.
A silver light shone on her, and the multicolored petals disappeared from view.
They reappeared in front of the old woman in the blink of an eye.
Without the control of a spirit master, such condensed elements would usually explode. But as the old woman watched the colorful flowers approach her, her initial surprise turned into a smile.
Behind her, a full moon quietly emerged, and a silver beam of light descended from it, illuminating the five-element flower.
As the old woman's spirit soul appeared, her soul rings slowly rose.
Four purple, four black, and one red.
With the moonlight bathing the flower, the five elements suddenly froze in mid-air.
In an instant, the five kinds of elements separated and then faded into nothingness.
"Good! Good! Good!"
The old woman laughed heartily.
"My girl, you need not take the rest of the exam. Go straight to the inner court!
To be able to control seven elements is thrilling, and it will surely go down in the history of the continent!"
After saying this, the old woman, with a smile on her face, walked up to Na Er and looked her up and down admiringly.
"My girl, would you like to be my disciple?"
The old woman asked with a grin, but Na Er merely turned to look at Wang Si.
"No, thank you," Wang Si replied with a light laugh.
Hearing Wang Si speak up, the old woman slowly composed herself and looked at him with a serious expression, then at the emotionless silver-haired girl, realizing that she had been played.
Well played, indeed!
