Chapter 186: A Bountiful Return (Second Update)
Chapter 186: A Bountiful Return (Second Update)
"If you truly wish to explore the mysteries of Magic, you can visit Kamar-Taj when you have the time. And if you're interested, you can also learn the Magic of Asgard!"
Finally, Odin turned to Thor and said:
"Although you've decided to stay in Midgard for a while, I still hope you'll visit often. You can also bring Carmen to meet your Queen Mother and learn Magic from her!"
"Odin, please rest assured. After Jane passes away, I will return to Asgard to ascend the throne and take on my responsibilities. Moreover, compared to the current peace in Asgard, the mortals of Midgard need my help more!"
Thor knelt on one knee and solemnly promised Odin, who sat on the throne.
Hearing this, Odin could only sigh:
"Mortals have a lifespan of only a hundred years, fleeting like a momentary bloom. Although I don't approve of your union with a mortal, since you've made up your mind, I won't stand in your way. I hope you'll visit Asgard often!"
After Loki's trial, Thor asked Odin for permission to remain in Midgard for a century, as he had promised Jane.
Initially, Odin was against it. He had sent Thor to Midgard to train him to be a better king, not to marry a mortal with a lifespan of only a hundred years.
However, love is a force even his divine power couldn't interfere with. Plus, Queen Frigga's persuasion played a significant role, and he eventually agreed to Thor's request.
The main reason was that the Nine Realms were currently peaceful. Although his own life was nearing its end, he could still last a century to see Thor return and inherit the throne.
Suggesting that Thor bring Jerry to Asgard was mainly to ensure that Thor would visit often.
"Odin, now that I've made my decision, I'm prepared. Thank you for your understanding!"
"Alright, your Queen Mother has the most extensive collection of magic books in Asgard. Take Carmen to get some, and then send her back to Midgard. She seems to be in a hurry."
Odin waved his hand, signaling that Thor could leave with Carmen.
Thus, Jerry left the Odin Temple with Thor and arrived at Queen Mother Frigga's residence.
Compared to Odin's stern and authoritative demeanor, Frigga was a very gentle mother. She first thanked Jerry and then, at Thor's request, gave him a large number of magic books.
She also offered that if he needed anything, he could always use the Bifrost to visit Asgard and discuss Magic with her.
"Thor, remember to keep my identity a secret when you return to Earth. Don't tell anyone from S.H.I.E.L.D., or it could cause trouble!"
On the long Bifrost, Jerry, riding a flying broom, reminded Thor, who was flying with his hammer.
Thor patted his chest and promised:
"Rest assured, I swear by the name of Thor that I won't reveal your identity to anyone, not even if Jane asks me."
Thor knew that Jerry's false identity was to protect his family's safety, so this was no small matter, and he wouldn't be careless.
Jerry nodded, trusting Thor's character.
Although Thor could be a bit silly, rash, and hot-tempered at times, and sometimes a bit dim-witted, he was still trustworthy—far more so than anyone from S.H.I.E.L.D.
"Heimdall, how are your injuries?"
Back in the teleportation hall, Thor looked at Heimdall, who was holding a large sword, with concern.
"Many thanks to this mage, I’m already fine!"
Heimdall bowed to Jerry in gratitude.
The Asgardians' physical constitution is three times that of Earth humans, and Heimdall is one of the best among them, so his healing capabilities are naturally exceptional.
With Jerry using Magic to help heal his wounds, combined with his powerful self-regeneration ability, Heimdall was now almost completely recovered.
"Let's activate the Bifrost and send us back to Midgard. The location is the same as before!"
Thor left these words and then led Jerry directly to the portal.
Heimdall nodded in response, took his greatsword, and inserted it into the activation device of the teleportation chamber, initiating the Bifrost.
In New Mexico, at the Bifrost landing site.
Since Thor and Jerry didn't specify when they would return, most of the people had already dispersed.
Tony had returned to his mansion, "City of Liberty", due to company matters, and Captain America had also left with Fury on a S.H.I.E.L.D. supersonic plane back to New York.
Now, only Coulson and his team of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, along with Jane and her two companions from Old Bridge Town, remained at the Bifrost landing site.
The wind stirred, and a rainbow descended from the sky.
Dressed in silver armor, Thor and Jerry, in his wizard robe, appeared before the crowd as the rainbow vanished.
"Everything is mostly resolved. If you have any questions, you can ask Thor first. I have urgent matters to attend to and will come back to see you later tonight."
Jerry greeted Coulson briefly and then rode his flying broom away.
After spending a few hours in Asgard, it was nearly seven o'clock, and he figured Elsa and Belle were already home.
Coulson opened his mouth to speak but, seeing Jerry's departing figure, gave up and turned to Thor.
What a show of affection!
Thor and Jane, upon reuniting, were already lost in a passionate kiss, oblivious to their surroundings.
Finding a secluded spot, Jerry cast a Muggle Repelling Charm and picked up the portkey to initiate a long-distance teleportation.
In Asgard, Jerry had tried using the portkey, but it had failed, possibly due to the vast distance from Earth or the powerful divine energy surrounding Asgard.
After a moment of spatial distortion, Jerry's figure vanished, leaving only his glove behind on the ground.
Around ten o'clock in the evening,
After finishing his household chores, Jerry's figure reappeared beside the glove.
Everyone needs a haven for their soul. Since being reborn in this world, his home in New York has become his haven, and Hass and Elsa are his most important family.
So, no matter how busy he is, he always makes time to be with them.
Studying Magic, practicing Meditation, and enhancing his strength are all crucial, but if a person's life consists only of these things, what is the difference from being a machine?
If he chose to leave his family and focus solely on improving his strength, he might be even stronger now, but he didn't make that choice.
Because he is human, and he needs a place to rest when he is tired.
Elsa's antics, Hass's concern, and even Belle, who is just beginning to integrate into the family, all make him feel that his rebirth in this world is real, not just a dream.
