Chapter 185: The Assessment Begins
Chapter 185: The Assessment Begins
"The Shrek Academy assessment consists of multiple components, each with a maximum score of ten points, and a passing grade of six.
Each assessment is conducted separately, and the total score is calculated after all the exam components are completed.
To ensure the comprehensive evaluation of the students' abilities, Shrek has stipulated that there will be additional deductions for failing a single item, and of course, bonus points for perfect scores."
As Liu Yue led the group towards the assessment area, she explained some of the details about the Shrek assessment.
After escorting the trio to their destination, Liu Yue waved goodbye, indicating that she would see them again once they had completed this assessment.
The first assessment was a test of the soul masters' mental strength.
As Wang Si and his group proceeded, they came across a mural.
The mural depicted a single creature—a gigantic black dragon.
This black dragon had a pair of golden vertical pupils, its massive wings unfurled, and its body emanated a murky purple aura.
Although it was just a painting, it was incredibly lifelike, and each scale on its body was clearly visible.
It was undoubtedly a soul beast, and this particular soul beast looked somewhat bizarre, with a length of several dozen meters and a height of over a dozen meters.
However, this mural only captured a fraction of its true size, as its actual physical dimensions were far more immense.
While the vivid mural could evoke a sense of immersion, the sense of oppression it conveyed came solely from the traces of the Golden-eyed Black Dragon King's bloodline within it.
However, Wang Si and his companions merely glanced at the mural.
Having witnessed the true form of that drop of blood, how could they be intimidated by a mere painting?
First Stage.
Wang Si received a perfect score of ten, as did Na'er and Nali!
Second Stage, battling a virtual soul beast.
This soul beast had a peculiar appearance, with two horns on its head.
The two longer horns were on the sides, while the shorter one was in the middle, just above its nose.
Apart from the highly textured trio of horns, the soul beast's body was covered in a thick layer of horn-like armor.
Its eyes, a bright yellow, seemed to be its weak spot.
"Earth Triangle Rhino, with a starting point of four thousand years. Its weakness is the shorter horn; when struck by a blunt object, it will fall into a stiffened state," Na'er explained in a calm voice.
Upon hearing this, Nali gently nodded and summoned her soul beast.
It took the form of two silvery bells that appeared in her hands, along with two yellow soul rings beneath her feet.
She gently shook one of the bells, and the distant Triangle Rhino, which had been gearing up for an attack, paused momentarily, as if affected by some sort of control effect.
Wang Si exerted force beneath his feet and instantly appeared beside the Triangle Rhino, his right hand clad in golden dragon scales.
Boom!
With a single punch, Wang Si smashed the rhino's shorter horn.
The Triangle Rhino wobbled a couple of times before collapsing to the ground. Wang Si's left hand, which had delivered the knockout blow, was now also covered in golden dragon scales.
Grabbing the rhino's two horns, Wang Si performed a back break, slamming the soul beast onto the ground behind him.
He then clenched his fist and pulverized all three of the Triangle Rhino's horns!
The soul beast let out a painful wail, and in its frenzy, it tried to ram into Wang Si, but his speed was too great, leaving the beast unable to make contact.
War Trample! The Earth Triangle Rhino group attack had a strong stiffening effect.
The silver bell rang out again, interrupting the Triangle Rhino's spellcasting and frenzied state.
Second Stage cleared.
Once again, Wang Si scored a perfect ten, Nali received nine points, and Na'er earned seven.
The reason for Na'er's lower score was that she hadn't had a chance to demonstrate her fighting skills in this battle; she had only identified the soul beast and stated its name and weakness when it appeared.
It was a series of connected doorways, or more accurately, guillotine gates. They were only frames without doors, with an enormous guillotine blade hanging above each frame, measuring two meters wide, one meter tall, and over thirty centimeters thick.
Such massive blades could easily slice a brown bear in two.
"The third assessment tests your adaptability and courage. I will give you a one-minute preparation time after I say 'get ready.' When I say 'start,' you will have 30 seconds to pass through these gates. You will get six points for completing it within 30 seconds, with an additional point for every 3 seconds earlier, and a point deduction for every 3 seconds later.
There are two important things you should know: First, the guillotine blades will fall faster the closer you are to the gates. These are real blades, and getting hit means you lacked the ability to make it through. Second, your score can go into negative numbers. If you fail to pass through at all, there's no need to continue with the subsequent assessments.
Alright, now... Guillotine, rise!"
As the examiner explained, he signaled with his hand, and the guillotine blades started to move.
"Clang!"
The first massive blade descended, slamming into the groove below with such force that sparks flew. It then rose again and fell with another loud "clang."
The rest of the blades followed suit, descending rapidly, filling the area with a chorus of "clangs."
"Get ready. One-minute countdown starts now."
As always, Na'er remained calm, her right hand raised, with a blue light condensing above her palm.
A two-meter-long stone pillar suddenly shot out from below the first guillotine gate.
"Clang! Boom—"
The guillotine blade swiftly fell, shattering the stone pillar.
"About three thousand kilograms," Na'er immediately assessed.
Wang Si simply nodded. As the blade rose again, he raised his right hand, and the Golden Dragon Claw appeared, blocking the blade's path.
Wang Si gave a subtle glance to the other two, and they instantly understood, walking casually through the gate.
They repeated this process for the remaining blades, with Wang Si blocking each one as they passed through.
The examiner was left speechless by their method.
This assessment was designed to test the students' adaptability, reaction speed, and courage. While many students had sufficient strength, the real challenge lay in their courage to dash through the intimidating guillotine gates, which produced a frightening "crack" with each fall.
However, these three had essentially cheated, strolling through without a care in the world.
The examiner saw no courage at all. After checking their names in the roster, he recorded their scores.
Wang Si: 0 points. Na'er: 0 points. Nali: 0 points.
Given their method of cheating, he saw no point in recording their completion time. As for whether they had any influential backgrounds, this first-time examiner had no idea...
