Chapter 185: Does He Know or Not?
Chapter 185: Does He Know or Not?
"Thank you, Professor Mcgonagall!" Ivan bowed respectfully.
Professor Mcgonagall modestly stated that she was just doing what a Transfiguration professor should do.
"In any case, you can start preparing for this semester and wait for the right moment. If you have any Questions, feel free to ask me", Professor Mcgonagall said.
Ivan, holding a Mandrake leaf and a notebook on practicing Animagus, left the Transfiguration classroom. Instead of heading back to the dormitory, he walked toward the Room of Requirement.
I need a place suitable for practicing Animagus.
Ivan thought to himself. This time, the door to his destination did not open immediately but appeared slowly after a short wait.
Ivan pushed the door open and entered, finding himself in a vast, dark area. The surroundings were pitch black, and he could barely see that it was a forest.
Stepping on the soft soil, Ivan almost thought he was somewhere in the Forbidden Forest, but it was eerily quiet, with no sound of insects.
"Is this real soil?" Ivan squatted down and picked up a handful of soil, kneading it. The texture was no different from the soil outside.
However, this place is quiet enough, and no one will disturb me. But what about storms?
As Ivan was thinking, a bolt of lightning streaked across the sky, followed by a deafening thunderclap. Ivan looked up and saw thick, dark clouds.
Suddenly, a torrential downpour began, and the wind howled, causing the trees to sway. The sound of raindrops hitting the leaves filled his ears.
Ivan was amazed by the power of the Room of Requirement, which could create such a vast space and even replicate special weather conditions.
Whoosh~
Ivan used his wand to shoot a beam of magic into the sky. After a moment, it exploded into red fireworks, indicating that this space was not infinite but had its limits.
I wonder how the storm is created. This place is even more mysterious than I imagined.
Ivan ignored the drenching rain and began experimenting in this vast space. After confirming that it met his requirements, he left the Room of Requirement satisfied.
All that was left was to wait for the other preparations to be completed before he could start the Animagus transformation.
Three days later, on a moonlit night, Ivan successfully placed the Mandrake leaf in his mouth, sticking it to his tongue, and formally began his practice.
Ivan initially thought it would be a simple task, but he soon realized the difficulty. On the first night, he almost swallowed the Mandrake leaf while sleeping.
During meals, he had to hide the leaf under his tongue, chewing carefully to avoid accidentally swallowing it.
"Hey, Ivan, what's wrong with you? Are you feeling unwell?" Harry asked, puzzled by Ivan's strange behavior.
"Mmm, nothing, I feel fine", Ivan replied vaguely, his speech muffled by the leaf in his mouth.
"Are you sure you don't need to see Madam Pomfrey?" Ron asked, concerned.
"No, it's fine", Ivan shook his head, declining their offers of help. He then cut a small piece of steak and slowly chewed it.
He wondered if the Mandrake leaf in his mouth would be flavored after a month. Would it still be usable for special Potions?
Ivan grumbled to himself. Over the past few days, he had completely stopped his ongoing exploration Quest.
His previous experience with the Polyjuice Potion clearly showed him that it wasn't a panacea. If he had to go through something like that again, he wouldn't be able to cover it up.
It would be better to wait until he completed the Animagus transformation before resuming his exploration, just like Peter Pettigrew, who could move freely in Hogwarts as a rat.
However, this was contingent on his Animagus form being a small animal. If he transformed into something large like a stag, anyone in Hogwarts would notice something was wrong.
Thinking about this, Ivan turned to look at Hermione. He still couldn't figure out if the young witch knew what he was doing in the dormitory.
But he could sense a slight distance between them; she hadn't spoken to him voluntarily for several days.
Forget it, it doesn't matter. Practicing magic is more important.
Ivan decided to stop thinking about it. Studying the notes on Animagus transformation was already giving him a headache, with many difficult points requiring the expenditure of academic points to learn.
After Ivan finished eating and left the Great Hall, Hermione finally emerged from the group of girls and sat next to Harry and Ron.
"Hermione, why have you been avoiding Ivan lately? Did you have a fight?" Harry couldn't help but ask, sensing that something was off between his two friends.
Did they have a falling out?
"No", Hermione shook her head, dismissing Harry's suggestion. She hesitated for a moment, then turned to Ron and asked, "Was Ivan playing Wizard's Chess with you on Saturday morning?"
"Yeah, we played Wizard's Chess all morning. Why?" Ron looked at Hermione, confused by her Question, but he nodded.
Hermione's confusion deepened. Who had impersonated her and entered the Girls' Dormitory a few days ago?
Last Saturday, after returning to the dormitory from the Library, Hermione noticed that Lavender and Parvati seemed to be afraid of her. After some probing, she discovered the reason.
Hermione immediately suspected that someone had used the Polyjuice Potion to impersonate her. However, she kept this information to herself, not revealing it or telling Professor Mcgonagall.
After all, there weren't many young witches in Hogwarts who could easily turn a cup into a groundhog using Transfiguration.
And among those who had been in contact with her recently and could easily obtain her hair, only Ivan came to mind.
Although she didn't know why Ivan had come to her dormitory, the thought of him possibly seeing the news clippings she had collected made her feel uneasy, her face flushing.
But when Ron mentioned that Ivan had played Wizard's Chess with him all morning on Saturday, Hermione became uncertain again, poking at her steak with her fork, causing it to be riddled with holes.
Does he know, or doesn't he?
