Chapter 184: Too Naive
Chapter 184: Too Naive
Some Transponder Snail broadcasts had been shut down, but one survived—the live-streaming Transponder Snail Buggy somehow obtained out of nowhere.
Kuro stood alone on the icy battlefield, surrounded by pirates, naturally drawing their attention. Buggy’s subordinate clutched the Transponder Snail, instinctively glancing toward him, and the lone screen now projected across countless islands’ displays.
“Sea water!”
At Shabondy, reporters stared dumbfounded at the stormy sky. The torrential downpour had initially blurred their vision, but now clarity returned—not from the rain’s end, but from something far worse descending from the heavens.
“Heavenly Justice? Divine Blessing for the Navy?”
Reporters and civilians, mostly ordinary folks, couldn’t fathom why seawater fell from the sky or how more kept pouring down.
But pirates lingering at Shabondy understood perfectly.
“It’s that man!”
Eustass Kid, wrapped in bandages, glared at Kuro’s image on the screen, his hand instinctively gripping his severed arm, a throbbing vein pulsing at his temple.
They’d been crushed by that man—the ability to descend from the skies, weightless and unstoppable. Unforgettable.
Yet this spectacle dwarfed their earlier clash.
Nearby, Hawkins pressed several straws against Tarot Cards. “Whitebeard Pirates, victory rate 0%.”
“So it’s really him.”
In a shadowed corner, Jewelry Bonney, still tearful over Pacifista’s appearance, froze at Kuro’s image.
“That ability… It’s definitely Shanks. Someone in the Navy stole Shanks’ power.”
Bonney gritted her teeth, “Just wait, World Government. No matter how strong you are, I’ll never forgive you!”
X Drake, arms crossed nearby, watched with a faint smirk tugging at his lips.
The Super Novas rarely survived such overwhelming pressure, yet miraculously, all had lived.
Though their subordinates dragged them away, they’d returned to Shabondy collectively to witness this cataclysmic spectacle—the heavens themselves collapsing.
Facing that man, none felt anything but dread.
The world’s greatest terror wasn’t knowing the gap, but feeling no gap at all, yet realizing no matter how hard you chased, you’d never catch up. Eventually, you’d see he stood on an entirely different plane.
That casual, crushing dominance—abandoning you like trash—fueled their fear.
That man was a genuine Monster!
…
The battlefield.
Whitebeard tilted his head skyward, his face finally grave.
“So it’s finally come down.”
Back in the New World, they’d clashed once, but both held back to protect the island’s people. Whitebeard hadn’t shattered the sea, and Kuro hadn’t unleashed destruction on Whitebeard’s fleet.
But now—time for the final showdown!
“Gurarararara! Do you think such power can eradicate us? Don’t be absurd!” Whitebeard released his Nitoryu, hands poised to tear the heavens apart.
“Dad.”
A voice echoed behind him.
“Shanks?”
Whitebeard didn’t turn. Shanks stood beside him now, gripping a massive blade—half again his height.
“Shanks, are you alright? I couldn’t reach you earlier,” Whitebeard rumbled, concern lacing his voice.
“Yeah, Dad. That weird bear-thing wiped out most of our crew,” Shanks replied, blood still trailing his lip. “I’m joining the fight too.”
“So be it. If I don’t act now, the losses will be worse. Time to crush the enemy—Gurarararara! Let’s send this sea water back!”
Shanks drew his blade, “Right, Dad. We’re all grateful. You’ve gone this far for the Whitebeard Pirates.”
Shink!
Whitebeard raised his fists—then a searing pain exploded in his chest. He looked down as Shanks’ blade pierced him, driving through his torso from the front!
“You—” Whitebeard’s eyes contracted, disbelief etched on his face.
The scene played out before all.
The Whitebeard Pirates froze in horrified shock.
The Seven Warlords of the Sea ranged from stunned to grim.
The Navy, indifferent or tense.
“Dad!!!” Ace roared.
“He actually stabbed him!” Sengoku stared at Whitebeard, his own voice tinged with disbelief.
A mere contingency plan. Though it forced Akainu into dishonor, the real strike wasn’t this—a side maneuver, expendable. Pirates were unreliable tools, after all.
Whitebeard’s strength should’ve let him sense even his closest ally’s attack. Yet now, stabbed and bleeding, it revealed—
“Your body’s not what it used to be, Newgate.”
Sengoku murmured, then barked, “Kuro!”
Kuro twitched his fingers. From the falling sea water, colossal lion heads surged, rocketing toward Buggy.
“That thing’s a liability. Can’t let the world see it.”
Boom!
The pirates were struck, sea water hurling them away. The Transponder Snail sank lifelessly in the sea water, retreating into its shell.
Better not let the world witness the Navy’s dishonor—and even worse to let everyone see his global power display!
“Disappear!”
With the Transponder Snail eliminated, Kuro slammed his palm downward. The heaven-collapsing sea water surged, now nearly atop Whitebeard’s head.
Once submerged, it’d all end!
“The sea—sea water’s coming! Flee!”
“Unforgivable! How can we possibly escape?!”
Pirates, faces twisted in terror, scrambled in chaos.
This endless sea water, plummeting from such heights—none would survive!
Whitebeard knelt, clutching his chest. He glanced at Shanks, blade trembling in hand, then at the sea water descending.
“You think this’ll stop me? You’re too naive, floating brat! I’m Whitebeard!”
Whitebeard roared, gripping the air and tearing it apart.
Boom!
Kuro staggered backward. The entire ice battlefield, Marineford itself, tilted rearward—as if space itself recoiled!
The sea water reversed course, surging toward Marineford.
Crash!
Whitebeard’s punch split the sea water, ripping the air apart in a colossal shockwave. The endless sea fractured into dozens of chunks, scattering toward Marineford at blinding speed.
“Hey, even wounded, could he react instantly?”
Kuro wiped sweat. The shockwave momentarily disrupted his power.
Behind him, Kuzan halted mid-air, watching the scattered sea water fall. He scratched his head, muttering, “Mission failed, huh?”
If the water had landed, Kuzan’s ice could’ve frozen the pirates entirely.
Too bad the old man saw through it.
“Yata Mirror Beads!”
Lucius Kro soared, unleashing lasers that shredded the falling sea water into droplets. They scattered, pummeling Marineford’s city.
Boom! Boom!
Even these smaller fragments flattened buildings, making Kuro grimace.
Still, they were lucky.
Without Gramps’ quick reflexes, the sea water’s uncontrolled fall would’ve reduced Marineford to ruins.
