Chapter 183: The Unicorn's Unique Ability
Chapter 183: The Unicorn's Unique Ability
"The Philosopher's Stone?" Kyle raised an eyebrow, showing genuine interest.
"The kind Mr. Niccolme made? Is there such a treasure hidden in Hogwarts?"
"Don't ask, Kyle. I won't tell you," Hagrid frowned and said sternly, "This is a top-secret matter, not something a young wizard like you should know about."
"A secret, huh?"
Kyle shrugged, nonchalantly saying, "In that case, I won't ask then."
Hagrid suddenly froze, not expecting Kyle to give up so easily. Harry had been pestering him with questions about Norville and the Philosopher's Stone earlier.
The two chatted for a while longer, and Kyle seemed genuinely disinterested in the Philosopher's Stone, never bringing it up again.
Hagrid suddenly sighed, unconsciously saying, "Honestly, if only Harry could be more like you."
"Potter? What's up with him?"
"Nothing, nothing..." Hagrid quickly shook his head, "I mean, he came by earlier."
"That's good, Hagrid." Kyle smiled and said, "It proves he cares about you, too."
"Yeah..." Hagrid nodded.
It felt nice to be cared for like this, but it would be even better if Harry's curiosity was a bit less intense and he didn't ask about Norville and the Philosopher's Stone every time they met.
"By the way, when did Potter come by?" Kyle asked.
"About an hour ago, I guess." Hagrid thought for a moment, "They only had one class today, so they came earlier."
"They?"
"Hermione and Ron, too." Hagrid said, "The three of them have been hanging out a lot recently."
As he spoke, Hagrid stood up and stirred the pot with a spoon a few times, and this time, he scooped some and tasted it.
Kyle's stomach churned, and he suppressed his discomfort, saying, "By the way, Hagrid, has anything strange happened in the Forbidden Forest lately?"
"The Forbidden Forest?"
Hagrid held the spoon and thought for a moment before shaking his head.
"I don't know. These days, with Norville's situation, I haven't had the chance to go in and check.
Why are you asking?"
"Nothing, just a random thought."
Kyle said, "The wizard who used Dark Magic on Norville obviously had some intention. But after alerting Professor Dumbledore, he probably can't take further action against Norville. So, I'm worried he might target the Forbidden Forest instead."
"You mean, he might harm the magical creatures in the forest?" Hagrid was startled, and the spoon in his hand clattered to the ground.
"This is just my guess."
Kyle's expression remained unchanged, "After all, the Forbidden Forest also has many dangerous magical creatures, like werewolves, giant spiders, or unicorns..."
"If they suddenly go wild and escape the forest, it could cause significant trouble for Hogwarts."
Hagrid picked up the spoon and paced back and forth in place. After a while, he said gravely, "You're right. I'll go check the Forbidden Forest soon."
"Be careful." Kyle reminded him, "The wizard who can use Dark Magic on Norville might be as powerful as the professors. Be extra cautious when you go to the forest."
"Don't worry, I'll be careful." Hagrid instinctively touched his pink umbrella and walked to the rack in front of the house, picking up a stone bow and gesturing with it.
In the Forbidden Forest, this thing is way more useful than magic.
"But you're wrong about one thing, Kyle."
Hagrid put the stone bow back on the rack and smiled, "Unicorns aren't dangerous. They are pure and gentle magical creatures with very limited attack abilities. Even if they go wild, it's hard for them to harm humans."
Just be careful, don't let it gore you with its horn."
"That's easier said than done," Kyle countered. "Don't forget about Professor Caterborn. Didn't he get gored by a unicorn's horn last summer and had to go to St. Mungo's for treatment?"
"Oh..." Hagrid was momentarily lost for words.
He wanted to say that Professor Caterborn was an exception; after all, any normal person wouldn't try to hug a unicorn's head when it was angry.
According to Professor Caterborn's account at the time, he was comforting the unicorn, trying to calm it down.
Hagrid still didn't quite understand this explanation.
He didn't know if the unicorn had calmed down, but Professor Caterborn was certainly calm while treating it... so calm that he fainted.
"Also, unicorns don't just attack with their horns." Kyle continued, "Don't forget that their blood is also deadly. What if it runs to a crowded place, explodes on the spot, and splatters blood all over people?
You don't even need to drink it; just getting it on your lips is enough... It's a curse that's hard to remove."
"Oh?" Hagrid was taken aback again.
This claim was even more outrageous than Professor Caterborn getting gored by a unicorn.
How could a unicorn possibly explode on the spot?
"Don't forget about Norville, Hagrid."
Kyle said seriously, "He even had the heart to harm such a cute Three-Headed Dog, let alone a unicorn."
"Ah... Yes, you're right."
Hagrid's face gradually turned serious, and he nodded solemnly, "I'll keep an eye on those unicorns. Fortunately, I also know where they often roam."
Kyle stayed a little longer, then hurriedly bid farewell to Hagrid and returned to the castle.
The main reason was that the smell from that pot was becoming increasingly strong, and Kyle was afraid that if he stayed any longer, he might vomit up his lunch.
The afternoon class was Defense Against the Dark Arts.
When Professor Qilo entered the classroom, everyone noticed he had a bandage wrapped around his arm.
"Professor, are you injured?" someone asked.
"A minor... injury," Professor Qilo stammered, "While watching the Quidditch match... I don't know who kicked me off the stands, and I broke my arm..."
"But Professor, wasn't that a few days ago?" someone else said, "I went to the Hospital Wing last year after breaking my arm in Flying class, and Madam Pomfrey fixed it in an instant."
"That's different..." Professor Qilo blushed, "It's because... I was cursed by a vampire... It's hard to recover from..."
"But Professor, didn't you say last time that the vampire's curse only made you afraid of the wind?"
"Maybe... I must have forgotten to mention it..."
Professor Qilo didn't seem to want to talk about this anymore. He directly ignored the young wizard's questions and forcibly shifted the topic to the lesson.
Today's lesson was about identifying and dealing with Red Caps.
They are troublesome creatures resembling fairies, and their presence can be detected wherever there's blood. They typically lurk in the dungeons of the castle and the trenches of battlefields, waiting to ambush lost individuals.
However, Professor Qilo couldn't find any Red Caps, so he used a large lizard as a substitute.
This lizard was a veteran actor in the Defense Against the Dark Arts class. It had played the role of a Hinkypunk before, and it was so good that it could even be considered an assistant teacher.
"Assuming... this is a Red Cap..."
Professor Qilo, supporting the lizard with his shoulder, began to stammer as he read the content from the book.
