Chapter 183: The Harvest
Chapter 183: The Harvest
"Quintessence Master!"
"King of a Thousand Faces!"
"Jade Emperor of Taiwei..."
With an invisible surge, two phantom shadows were drawn towards the Divine Domain Fragment, merging with it.
Bernie!
Don!
Their souls.
"This is what you call truly squeezing every last drop. Not only did you destroy his physical body, but you also took his soul."
"So..."
"I don't need to envy others' opportunities. With enough time, I can go further than anyone else!"
"At least, that's the case before reaching Tier Three!"
Returning to a safe area, Karl entered the Divine Domain Fragment, stroked his chin, and spoke to the two phantoms:
"Tell me all the spells you've learned."
He suspected that the Perro family's inherited magic originated from the Sixth Circle Tower and was related to the meditation technique he had been practicing.
If that was the case,
it would be perfect.
Even if it wasn't, the Perro family's water-based heritage still held great reference value for him.
After all, they both followed the path of water magic.
His guess was correct! The Perro family's heritage did originate from the Sixth Circle Tower, but it lacked the crucial meditation technique.
Because the meditation technique couldn't be passed down.
"Heh..."
Karl chuckled:
"Meditation, I happen to have it!"
"The 'Comprehensive Water Mage Spellbook' includes various spells, and although it's not the pinnacle heritage of the Sixth Circle Tower, it's enough for me to reach the Second Circle, or even the Third Circle."
"The Water Spirit and Vitalizing Water will greatly aid my Divine Demon Transformation, strengthening my physique."
Standing up, Karl jotted down the various spells they dictated, then paused, deep in thought.
"With my current cultivation, I can withstand spells cast by a mid-stage First Circle Wizard, but it would be a stretch for late-stage spells."
Recalling his encounter with Don, he shook his head lightly:
"Without the Twelve Star Palace, I wouldn't have stood a chance against him."
"If it were someone like Clemens, a powerful late-stage First Circle Wizard, even the Twelve Star Palace might not be enough to hold them."
"Fortunately..."
"This time's harvest is impressive!"
Karl took out a jade pendant, a smile spreading across his face.
This pendant was the one Clemens had thrown to Nina, which Karl had snatched while hiding nearby.
Inside were not only the two Demon Face Bloodvines sealed in ice but also a pile of magic stones and hundreds of mana crystals.
A rough calculation.
Nearly twenty thousand magic stones!
"Jackpot!"
He was well aware of the Demon Face Bloodvines.
The vines could be used to create potions that enhanced mental energy and had potent effects on the physical body.
The key was in the roots!
The roots of the Demon Face Bloodvines could aid wizards in breaking through cultivation boundaries, with a high chance of success for minor boundaries and a more challenging but possible chance for major ones.
No wonder Gold was so eager to obtain them. As a mid-stage First Circle Wizard, he must have wanted to reach the late stage.
"This time, I've truly offended him!"
"Hmm?"
Sensing something, Karl stepped out of the Divine Domain Fragment.
A bird had flown nearby and was now pecking at the door of his temporary residence.
"Creak..."
Opening the door, the bird perched on the indoor table and, to Karl's surprise, spoke:
"Karl, you've gotten yourself into big trouble this time."
"Trouble?"
Karl shook his head lightly, pouring himself a cup of hot milk tea. He pulled up a chair and sat down leisurely:
"Old Brin, you know I don't seek trouble."
"Caw caw..." The bird flapped its wings and squawked:
"The Perro family is searching for you everywhere, and so is the Sixth Circle Tower. Fortunately, they don't know your true identity."
"Thanks." Karl's hand paused for a moment:
"I'll treat you to a drink when I have time."
Old Brin knew his true identity, and if he revealed it, the trouble would be far from over.
At the very least,
the Sixth Circle Tower would surely try to force him to give up what he took from Gold.
With their capabilities, locating him wouldn't be difficult.
After all, he was still a disciple of the Tower.
"Forget the drink."
The bird shook its head:
"Don't worry too much. Gold is an outsider, unfamiliar with the Magic Forest, so finding you won't be easy for him."
"As for the Perro family..."
"They probably have other concerns for now."
"Oh?" Karl's eyes flickered:
"Nina's alive and has escaped." The bird spoke:
"The Walker family has declared their opposition to the Perro family and gained support from the other two major families in the marketplace."
"The four great families once had an alliance, agreeing not to take action against each other. The Perro Clan has broken this rule."
"Oh!" Karl stroked his chin.
"Will they take action against the Perro Clan?"
"According to the agreement, they should, but in reality, it's highly unlikely." Engle shook his head. "If they have the power to crush them and other options, no one will want to take action. They'll probably demand compensation from the Perro Clan, and it will also depend on whether Miss Nina has the wisdom to handle the situation."
With the loss of Clemens, the only Second Circle Late-Stage Wizard, the Walker Family's strength has been greatly diminished.
Even with the support of the other two families, they wouldn't be able to withstand the Perro Clan's retaliation.
As the weaker party, how one leverages other powers to confront the strong and gain benefits tests the leader's wisdom.
If handled properly, Nina may be able to maintain the situation, or even take the opportunity to advance to the Second Circle Late-Stage and lead the family to regain its footing.
If not...
The Walker Family may be finished.
"Oh, right!"
Engle flapped his wings.
"Harvey wants to see you."
"See me?" Karl's expression remained unchanged. "Our transaction is already concluded."
"How ruthless," Engle shook his head. "After all, he was your disciple." He continued, "Don't forget, the Walker Family promised you a reward, that incomplete Wizard Tower."
Karl slowly raised his head.
Night.
Nina, seated cross-legged on a block of ice crystal, slowly opened her bloodshot eyes, exhaustion evident in her gaze.
"Phew..."
She exhaled a breath of turbid air and turned to her side, her voice filled with gratitude.
"Linda, thank you so much. If it weren't for your help, I don't think I could have escaped."
A few days ago, facing the Perro Clan's assassination attempt, she had narrowly escaped, fortunate to receive assistance at the critical moment.
"You're welcome." Priestess Linda replied, "We're friends."
"Friends?"
Bitterness crept across Nina's face as she thought of her father's cold-blooded and cruel nature, in stark contrast to Linda's gentleness and kindness.
"Yes!"
Her voice carried a hint of emotion.
"We're friends, and friends should help each other."
What would have happened if she hadn't let Linda go and instead launched a surprise attack?
The only surviving hope would have been snuffed out by her own hands!
"Oh, right."
Priestess Linda spoke up.
"I just received news that Mr. Kenny isn't dead. Instead, Bernie and Don from the Perro Clan are the ones who perished."
"Hmm..."
"Don is a Second Circle Late-Stage Wizard. Although he recently advanced to this stage, he is indeed a Second Circle Late-Stage!"
"What?!" Nina's expression changed. "Mr. Kenny killed them?"
"That's right, without a doubt." Priestess Linda exclaimed, her voice filled with surprise. "I never expected him to be so powerful. No wonder he survived the Stone Skin of the Serpent's death sentence."
Nina's beautiful eyes sparkled, and she suddenly spoke up.
"Linda, please call Harvey for me."
"Okay."
Priestess Linda nodded and walked out the door. However, instead of going to find Harvey, she headed to the neighboring estate.
"Third Sister, you're here."
A handsome middle-aged man sat in the center of the room, and upon seeing her approach, a smile graced his face.
"You did well this time. Being able to set aside your grudges and save Nina, even though it might be uncomfortable, will earn her trust."
"Yes." Priestess Linda nodded. "My father taught me that heaven favors the brave. To gain enough benefits, one must dare to take risks."
"Haha..." The man laughed. "Gaining Nina's trust is just the beginning. If I can marry her and replace the Walker Family as one of the four great controllers of the Dream Bazaar, then it will truly be over."
He asked again, "What does Nina want to do?"
"She wants to see Harvey." Priestess Linda replied, "She probably wants to contact Mr. Kenny."
"Mr. Kenny?" The man's eyebrows furrowed at the name. "This person seems to have suddenly appeared out of nowhere, and he was able to kill a Second Circle Late-Stage Wizard. He must be using a fake identity."
"Let's try to contact him first."
"Okay."
Priestess Linda agreed, seemingly quite convinced by her 'brother's' words.
