Chapter 183: Fall of Winter (Part 3)
Kasa Youshuang closed his eyes. Even through his eyelids, he could feel the blazing light before him—the radiance of Flame Light.
【Extreme Flame Breath】
A torrential downpour of fire descended, engulfing Kasa in a searing deluge. The once-mighty Frost Giant Warrior, a legend who had slain multiple White Dragons with bare hands, was reduced to ash. Only fragments of his White Dragon Scale Armor remained, barely clinging to the shape of what had once been.
Within the Kingdom Domain, Kai Xiusu’s spell-like abilities had been amplified to staggering levels. That single breath was now on par with a Legendary Spell—enough to obliterate a Frost Giant whose constitution was strong enough to battle an ancient White Dragon.
“This realm… it feels almost like my own divine domain,” Kai Xiusu murmured, gently flapping his wings.
He stared at the ice crystal in his hand, its core pulsing with a faint but unmistakable thread of Divine Energy. Though the essence was thin, its nature—absolute, supreme, and eternally cold—was undeniable. Yet, as before, this power was utterly incompatible with Kai Xiusu’s own. Attempting to wield it would likely result in catastrophic consequences.
Carefully, he tucked the crystal into his Dimensional Sack.
His Character Sheet flickered, refreshing with new data.
[You have slain 【Frostborn - Kasa】. Gained 18,000 experience points.]
[Originally destined to lead his tribe toward growth, gathering faith to awaken their Father God, Kasa’s death has drawn the wrath of a deity. You now bear the debuff: 【Enemy of the Frost Giants】]
“Hmph. What a petty god,” Kai Xiusu muttered, shaking his head.
He didn’t seek conflict with divine beings—but the expansion of the Youshuang Tribe and the Order of the Ashen Kingdom were fundamentally at odds. Since the clash was inevitable, why not push it to the extreme? Let the Frost Giant’s god grow weaker, fade into obscurity, and never awaken again.
A grim smile twisted Kai Xiusu’s dragon face.
“Still… first things first. I need to grow stronger.”
“Even if a god descended in person, what then?”
[You choose to level up 【True Dragon Mage】 to level 11.]
[You may select one additional Metamagic Mastery.]
[You gain Metamagic Mastery: 【Distant Spell】]
Thanks to the power of Spellwell Surge, Sorcerers could drastically extend the range and area of their spells. As a Dragon Sorcerer, Kai Xiusu’s long-range magic was now even more devastating.
Then came the moment he dreaded most—the random spell draw.
[You gain an additional spell: 【Volcanic Ember Cloud】 and 【Aerial Maneuverability】]
【Volcanic Ember Cloud】
7th-level Evocation Spell
You become a living volcano, surrounded by white-hot embers. Hundreds of small, scorching volcanic rocks burst outward from you, launching powerful strikes at enemies. Simultaneously, a thick cloud of volcanic ash erupts, blinding and suffocating those caught within.
【Aerial Maneuverability】
4th-level Alteration Spell
This spell grants dragons flawless agility in flight. By manipulating spatial dynamics, the caster can execute abrupt stops, sharp turns, barrel rolls, and tight spiral maneuvers midair—perfect for evading or closing in on foes.
Kai Xiusu exhaled deeply, relief washing over him.
A powerful 7th-level Evocation spell, and a 4th-level alteration with battlefield-changing utility. While neither represented a fundamental leap in power, both were like sharpening a blade—adding lethal precision and versatility.
For instance, 【Volcanic Ember Cloud】 could be combined with 【Control Weather】 to trigger massive volcanic eruptions across a region. Meanwhile, 【Aerial Maneuverability】 paired with 【Graceful as a Dragon】 could enable near-90-degree turns in midair—something almost impossible for other flyers.
“Now that Kasa is dead…”
“Time to clean up the aftermath.”
A cruel grin spread across Kai Xiusu’s draconic features.
He cast Greed Sack, gathering Kasa’s ashes and the remnants of his gear. He hung them proudly behind him like a trophy.
North of Tiriel Throat, the battle paused—Frost Giants and the followers of the Ashen Kingdom alike ceased fighting.
This wasn’t due to any sudden love for peace. It was pure trust in their chieftains. The moment one returned, the war would end. No miracle could change that now.
Baya stared desperately into the sky, whispering, “He’ll come back… Kasa. He was chosen by Lord Solem. He can’t—”
Her words died mid-sentence.
Suddenly, a wave of intense heat surged through the air. The distant rhythm of wings beat against the wind. The massive Red Dragon drew closer, his silhouette growing larger.
And beneath him—strung like a grim banner—hung a tattered, broken White Dragon Scale Armor, its frame still filled with ash, sealed by some unknown magic.
The Ashen Kingdom’s forces erupted in jubilation.
“Ooooh! Master turned him to ash!”
“Of course! That’s the power of our Master!”
“Fight for the Great Red Dragon!”
“What did I say? The King of the Burnt can’t lose!”
In stark contrast, the Frost Giants fell into despair.
“No… it can’t be.”
“He was Lord Solem’s chosen one!”
Baya stood motionless, shaking her head, muttering over and over.
Kai Xiusu’s golden eyes swept across the battlefield from above, his posture radiating supreme arrogance.
“Frost Giants,” he declared, voice echoing like thunder, “your chieftain has been reduced to ash by my hand!”
“Now, I offer you two choices.”
“Bend the knee and become slaves to the Ashen Kingdom…”
“Or die.”
Expressions flickered across the Frost Giants’ faces—some clenched their jaws, eyes burning with hatred; others hesitated, their resolve cracking.
After all, they were Neutral Evil at heart. Strength was the only law. Kasa had ruled through force. But now, this Red Dragon had reduced him to dust with a single breath.
Then, Baya raised her Dragon Bone Pick, her eyes blazing crimson.
“This Red Dragon lies!” she roared. “Kasa was Lord Solem’s chosen! He’s not dead!”
“This dragon is spent! The warriors of the Youshuang Tribe—follow me, charge!”
Without hesitation, she charged forward—her fearless, death-defying stance mirroring Kasa’s own, igniting a fire in the hearts of thirty Frost Giant Warriors. These were Kasa’s former hunting comrades—his trusted allies, his merits. They surged after her like knights charging a windmill, hurling themselves at the Red Dragon.
“Thank you for your sacrifice,” the Red Dragon said, eyes gleaming with amusement. “Let me… test my strength.”
White-hot embers swirled around him.
【Volcanic Ember Cloud】
Hundreds of molten volcanic rocks erupted from Kai Xiusu’s body, tearing through the air. Thick, choking clouds of ash poured down like a storm, swallowing the entire charge.
Coughing. Wailing. Roaring.
The once-feared “Cataclysm” giants, now helpless, flailed like drowning men in a raging current—powerless, broken, consumed.
