Chapter 183: Analysis
Chapter 183: Analysis
Father and Godfather!
Felix stood quietly to the side, his mind working at a rapid pace.
Dumbledore's words were clear, referring to Harry Potter and Sirius Black.
The relationship between the two was something he had never expected.
Sirius Black had been accused of being Voldemort's henchman, betraying his best friend—Harry's father.
Felix thought of an organization active during the war years—the Order of the Phoenix. This was a secret organization founded by Dumbledore to resist Voldemort, assisting the Ministry of Magic in the fight against Voldemort and the Death Eaters.
The Order of the Phoenix was not well-known, and after Voldemort's disappearance in 1981 and the end of the war, it was disbanded.
Felix knew of this name because he was acquainted with Professor Tofty from the Wizarding Examinations Authority, who was also an expert in Ancient Runes. Felix had visited him before.
In casual conversation, Professor Tofty had mentioned this organization, praising the bravery and fearlessness of the Order of the Phoenix members, though he did not disclose any specific names.
However, Felix deduced that at least Harry's parents, Sirius Black, and Peter Pettigrew were members of the Order of the Phoenix.
No wonder... no wonder Dumbledore was so angry.
They were best friends in school, close comrades after graduation, and the familial bond formed by Harry's birth should have been unbreakable.
But Sirius Black chose to betray them.
What role did Snape play in all this? From the information Felix had gathered during his school years, after the war, Snape was accused of being a Death Eater, but Dumbledore vouched for him as a spy, preventing him from being tried by the Wizengamot.
Otherwise, Hogwarts would not have such a snarky professor.
'So, Severus must also have been a member of the Order of the Phoenix.'
Felix knew little about his Head of House's experiences during his school years, but he knew that Snape's relationship with the Potters was complex: he was an old acquaintance of Harry's mother, perhaps even harboring some admiration, but he was a mortal enemy of Harry's father.
Would they fight during their meetings?
...
"Felix", Dumbledore turned his head, his piercing blue eyes looking through the glasses at him, "you are a professor at the school, and I do not want to see you make the wrong choice."
Felix blinked, "Headmaster, I would never put the students' safety at risk. Besides, my relationship with Mr. Potter is quite good, and I don't want anything to happen to him. I even trained him during the summer."
But the Black family's books are a different matter, aren't they?
Felix kept these two things separate in his mind.
"Ah, I heard Filius mention this", Dumbledore said, "he said you have a keen interest in the magical surges of young wizards..."
"Not exactly research, just experience."
Dumbledore's expression softened, losing some of its initial sharpness and intensity.
He spoke in a tone that suggested a discussion about magic, "Could you tell me more, Felix? Please indulge an old man's curiosity."
"It all started two weeks ago... I ran into Potter in Diagon Alley and noticed the active magic within him. I deduced he had recently experienced a magical surge. After asking, it turned out to be true."
"Your sensitivity to magic is remarkable, Felix."
"Thank you, Dumbledore. After that, I..."
“I think this way…”
The tense atmosphere in the office gradually eased.
Dumbledore once again transformed into a gentle old man, engaging Felix in an interested discussion about the impact of the Magic surge, freely offering his own insights.
“Headmaster Dumbledore, I’ve been thinking about something. Could we manually control the activity level of our Magic? The benefits are obvious.”
“This is an intriguing idea, but be cautious, Felix. Any research into the nature of Magic itself can easily lead to serious magical accidents.”
When Felix left the Headmaster's Office, he was holding two books.
These were from Nicolas Flamel, delivered through Dumbledore. This was one of the drawbacks of their communication through photos; Nicolas Flamel lived in a Safe Room and rarely ventured out, making it difficult for owls to find him.
Given their current relationship, it was clear that Felix wasn’t close enough to visit him.
Felix wasn’t surprised by this. Trust and friendship are built over time; he wasn’t a Galleon that could win everyone’s trust and affection instantly.
He tucked the books into his ring and returned to his office. As he sat on the sofa, his mind was still pondering the words of Phineas Black from the Headmaster portraits.
12 Grimmauld Place, the location of the Black Family's old home.
Though only a name was provided, with no additional details, it was enough for Felix.
This was clearly a name given by ordinary people, and he could start his search from this angle.
Once he narrowed down the general area, it was just a matter of gradually investigating. Given time, he could uncover this hidden residence.
This wasn’t difficult. Phineas Black had said he could do it, and Felix believed him.
The challenge was how to break through the magical protections.
For Pureblood Families, their old homes were often fortified with complex and even bizarre protective measures, a process that could take decades or even centuries, spanning multiple generations.
Moreover, if the Fidelius Charm had been cast on the old home, there would be no hope.
However, according to Phineas Black, portraits of him existed in the Black Family Manor, indicating his deep knowledge of the old home. He wouldn’t have Felix waste his time if he couldn’t help him save the last of the Black bloodline.
Besides, this wasn’t a Safe Room; using the Fidelius Charm would be too much trouble.
Another crucial clue provided by Phineas Black was the need to use something unique to the noble Black Family. What could that be?
Felix had some ideas.
The Mind Chamber.
Felix sat on the sofa and summoned a thick book with a wave of his hand. It was Cantanklus Nott’s Pure-Blood Directory, which contained information about the so-called ‘Sacred Twenty-Eight’.
He flipped to the section on the Black Family, quickly scanning through the list of family members and their achievements.
His gaze fell on the Black Family’s coat of arms, which bore the French phrase—‘Toujours Pur’.
He smiled.
For the noble, Toujours Pur Black Family, what could be more unique than blood?
All he needed was Sirius Black’s blood to enter the Black Family’s old home and explore its hidden treasures…
Felix emerged from the Mind Chamber, gazing at the night sky over Hogwarts, his eyes lost in the darkness.
Sirius, where are you?
