Chapter 182: The White Snake Immortal [57]
Chapter 182: The White Snake Immortal [57]
Within the mist...
Tian Xin, the Goddess, watched as Shi Chu Shima, in her hurried escape, struggled to transform into a human form. Her face was deathly pale, and she let out a loud laugh. "Hahaha! Who would've thought that you'd suffer such a big loss today? Serves you right for being so eager."
Tuan Jinshi even mimicked Shi Chu Shima's tone, adding, "Hehehe, it's my turn to go first this time. None of you are allowed to compete with me for snacks."
"Shut up!"
Shi Chu Shima's body trembled with anger. "That guy is definitely not human. He must be some kind of monster disguised as a human. His chakra is even more abundant than that of Isohata's tortoise... Ouch... I guess I won't be able to eat for a few months now..."
She paused for a moment and then continued, "Why are you still keeping him trapped here? Just throw him in already."
"Oh, who cares if it's a monster or not. Once it's in my belly, it's all the same."
Tian Xin, the Goddess, smiled slyly. "It hasn't even started yet, so why give up so easily? Just because you suffered a loss doesn't mean I will too. Besides, didn't you deplete a lot of his chakra? With that much depletion, he should be pretty exhausted by now, right?"
"Hehe..."
Shi Chu Shima let out a mocking laugh.
In her perception, Feng Ye's state had hardly changed from the beginning. It was as if releasing so much chakra couldn't even create a ripple, implying that Feng Ye's actual chakra might far surpass the amount that had caused her to explode.
However, she didn't feel like informing Tian Xin about this. After all, she didn't want to be the only one suffering, so she simply closed her mouth and started healing herself by absorbing natural energy.
...
On the other side...
After dealing with Shi Chu Shima, Feng Ye continued walking forward within the mist. Suddenly, the mist dissipated quietly without a sound.
Ahead of him stood a massive palace, gleaming with golden splendor.
At the entrance were two scantily clad young girls, standing there with smiling faces as they looked at him.
"Welcome, traveler from afar," they said. "Please come in and 'rest' for a while."
The palace doors opened, revealing a scene of peach-blossom spring within. The landscape was picturesque, with misty white fog rising like steam from a hot spring, creating a hazy and ethereal atmosphere.
Feng Ye's gaze swept across the palace, and he tilted his head. "Quite a variety of tricks, but I wonder if they can withstand my power."
"You'll find out if you come in and try," replied the young maiden at the palace entrance with a giggle, her hand covering her mouth.
"Alright," Feng Ye agreed, and with his hands behind his back, he walked forward and ascended the steps, taking one step onto the staircase.
Tian Xin, the Goddess, appeared silently behind Feng Ye, a smile playing on her lips as she watched his hand reach out towards one of the young maidens at the entrance. But as Feng Ye's finger finally made contact with the maiden, Tian Xin hissed, baring her fangs, and her mouth opened wide like that of a giant python, about to devour Feng Ye.
However...
Just as she was about to strike, her movement abruptly stopped.
Because she saw that the young maiden Feng Ye's finger had touched did not fall into his arms as expected. Instead, she disintegrated into countless specks of light.
Immediately after.
Feng Ye retracted his finger and calmly continued walking forward.
With each step he took, the tiles beneath his feet crumbled into specks of light, spreading forward until they engulfed the entire hall, causing the entire palace to crumble in an instant.
"How can this be..."
"This isn't just an ordinary genjutsu... It's also infused with my senjutsu chakra..."
Tian Xin stood frozen, a hint of shock in her serpentine eyes. But the next moment, she felt her body being pulled.
Her head had already transformed into that of a giant snake, but her body retained its human form. Now, the human-shaped torso's neck was being held by a hand bathed in lightning, lifted off the ground, and raised high.
However, even in her giant snake form, she couldn't shake Feng Ye off. His fingers still pinched her neck scales, and in an instant, he flashed forward.
Boom! Boom! Boom!!!
A streak of silver light restrained the giant snake's neck and flew forward at an incredible speed. With a loud crash, it slammed into a boulder, shattering it to pieces. The force continued unabated, reducing a large area of rocks to countless fragments before finally crashing into the mountainside.
Boom! The mountain trembled!
A massive crater was blasted into the mountainside, followed by a cascading collapse of rocks and debris.
Feng Ye released his grip, his figure flashing as he reappeared outside in the mist. He lightly dusted his hands, watching the mountain continue to crumble, and said, "That should be the end of this trial, right?"
There was no response, only the sound of the mountain's collapse.
"I haven't passed yet..."
Feng Ye sighed and drew out the Kusanagi Sword. Lightning crackled along the blade's edge.
Finally, a voice filled with fear and panic rang out from within the collapsing cave, "Stop! Stop! You've passed! You've passed!!!"
From the edge of Feng Ye's sword, she felt the threat of death. Even if she survived such a strike, the consequences would be horrific.
Swoosh!
Feng Ye raised his hand and flicked his wrist, sending the gathered chakra soaring into the sky.
The silver strand tore through the mist, piercing the heavens and vanishing beyond the clouds.
Clang!
Sheathing the Kusanagi Sword, Feng Ye turned and faced the mist behind him. Tilting his head, he said, "There's still one left, right? Don't hide anymore. Come out together."
In the ensuing silence, the last of the trio, Tuan Jinshi, emerged. She glanced upward, noticing that the tear in the mist hadn't fully healed yet, and the sun could still be seen through the cracks.
"I am Tuan Jinshi... To obtain the power of the Dragon Earth Cave's immortal technique, my trial is the last one. All you need to do is answer my question..."
"..."
Feng Ye regarded Tuan Jinshi calmly.
As their gazes met, Tuan Jinshi felt a tremendous pressure bearing down on her. A bead of cold sweat formed on her forehead, and after a moment's hesitation, she asked, "Are you ready?"
"Yes."
"You've passed."
"..."
A question mark appeared over Feng Ye's head.
But in the next moment, the Tuan Jinshi before him became illusory and vanished. Simultaneously, the mist in his vision also disappeared, replaced by a temple.
"Feng Ye!"
Rin's figure appeared at the entrance of the temple, waving at Feng Ye.
Only then did Feng Ye react. Glancing around, he didn't see any trace of Tuan Jinshi or the other two snake immortals. He shook his head and walked toward Rin.
"When did you get here?"
Rin blinked and explained, "Isohata used some of his chakra, and then I was able to get out of the mist... I was worried about you, Feng Ye. The White Snake Immortal said that those who fail the trial would be eaten."
Feng Ye chuckled lightly and said, "I'm probably not very tasty. I doubt they'd want to eat me."
As he spoke, Feng Ye began walking toward the interior of the temple.
Upon entering, a set of red stairs came into view, ascending upward toward the end of their line of sight.
At the top of the stairs, the White Snake Immortal appeared, not in human form but in its true form as a massive white phosphor serpent. It lay coiled, a long pipe dangling from its mouth as it exhaled puffs of smoke.
