Chapter 182: Lanchi Knows Too Well How to Do Good Deeds
Chapter 182: Lanchi Knows Too Well How to Do Good Deeds
At eight in the evening in Icerite, the lights along the streets adorned the city like stars, infusing it with an air of elegant tranquility.
Taking advantage of the fact that the large mall on Herton Pedestrian Square was still open, the trio went to buy some daily necessities first.
Then, after dropping off their purchases at home, Tallia went with Lanchi and Hyberlian to the Sage's Dormitory of Icerite College.
After Hyberlian had sorted out her change of clothes for the next two weeks at Tallia's house and walked out with her suitcase, Tallia left with her.
He watched as the two of them walked away on the quiet path illuminated by the campus lights.
Lanchi turned and walked towards his dormitory.
If it weren't for the fact that he had to give the "Great Loving Poet" to Hyberlian, Lanchi, who possessed "Glorious Virtue" and "Wonderful Notes," would have been fine on his own.
He would visit Fred later; Fred must have already prepared the board games. If the president weren't so busy with his duties, he would probably have been summoned by Fred to join them as well.
With Hyberlian's matter perfectly resolved, Lanchi felt that he was once again carefree and could look forward to the beautiful campus life ahead!
His mood was incredibly relaxed, and even the autumn night air seemed fresher.
Often, when he was in such a good state, he felt inspired.
It had been several days since Lanchi had touched his card-making tools, and he had just returned from the Shadow World that morning.
It felt somewhat unfamiliar, and he missed it a little.
"It's time to practice card-making; I must not be lazy or neglectful."
Lanchi strolled down the dormitory corridor and stretched lazily.
Taking advantage of the card-making workshop in his dormitory, he couldn't wait to delve into card-making research.
Before the winter break, when he would head to the Northern Continent for the "Seeking Slate Holders" project, he needed to create a magic card with the "Wolf King Ao Xin" as its core material. He wanted to become a sealer who could bring warmth to everyone and break the cold, inherent impression people had of sealers, especially those led by the Bishop of Extinction.
This was his responsibility and goal.
With these thoughts in mind, Lanchi soon arrived at the door of Dormitory 101.
He opened the door, turned on the lights, and headed straight for the card-making workshop, a spacious storeroom that had been transformed.
Ever since Lanchi installed the protective and soundproof barrier, the same kind Tallia had in her room, he no longer worried about disturbing his fellow students.
Upon entering the workshop, he saw bottles and jars of all shapes and sizes everywhere, filled with various herbs and mineral crystal powders.
Ancient charts and scrolls were stacked on the long workbench, and instruments and tools were neatly arranged on one side.
He tidied up briefly, and soon, the card-making tools—the magic pen, carving knife, tweezers, small hammer, and more—were laid out before him.
He then put on a work coat and prepared to begin his card-making experiments.
First, Lanchi selected the materials for the card.
He didn't plan to make a high-level magic card this time; it was merely for practice and to test out some new ideas.
He took out a stack of blank white magic cards from a drawer, quickly prepared them, and then dipped a bottle of dark red magical ink, carefully inscribing runes on the paper.
Each stroke and line was steady and precise, and he chose a deep red mineral powder, which he carefully sprinkled onto the card in between steps, then carefully carved and brushed it with a carving knife and a small brush.
More than ten minutes passed, and he was still focused on his work.
However, the structure of the card gradually became unstable, as if sparks were jumping and swirling on its surface.
Soon after, the runes on the card truly ignited, flashing with fire, and with a burst and a violent tremor in the workshop, it exploded with a loud bang!
As always, his card-exploding technique was incredibly powerful.
Because his mood was especially relaxed, the explosion felt more carefree.
"Let's continue!"
Lanchi was undaunted and even revealed a relieved smile. He rolled up his sleeves and started crafting again.
To be continued...
Each time a magic card in his hand exploded, his shadow would tremble violently in the flickering light, as if it were afraid of him.
Lanchi didn't even notice the strangeness of his shadow's behavior.
He just kept detonating the cards with increasing enthusiasm, as if setting off fireworks, as if the more explosions, the better, seeking the greatest power!
Finally, a particularly loud detonation caused flames to engulf the entire card-making workshop, nearly breaking through the protective barrier, and the vibration set the bottles and jars on the shelves rattling. Only then did Lanchi reveal a satisfied smile.
"Wonderful!"
Lanchi raised his hands in triumph, as his experiment seemed to be heading towards success! He immediately decided to strike while the iron was hot and try again.
However...
His previously calm shadow suddenly began to tremble violently as if it had sensed his intentions.
"Meow, meow, meow! Who makes cards like that?!"
A cat seemed to leap out of his shadow like ink, its fur standing on end as it shouted at him.
It seemed truly terrified.
There's a terrorist conducting building demolition experiments here!
"Ah!"
Lanchi was startled as well.
How could a cat pop out of his shadow?!
"Who are you...?"
Lanchi asked, confusion evident in his slightly calmer tone as he sat down on the chair and studied the small black cat on the ground.
Lanchi didn't sense any hostility from it.
For it to have hidden within his shadow all this time without him noticing, its rank must be quite high.
And Talia must have discovered it long ago but chose not to expose it, indicating that it was likely harmless.
"I'm Cat Boss, you often visit my store, meow."
The little black cat introduced itself, still a bit shaken.
"Cats can cook?"
Lanchi was astonished.
If his own cat could cook him a three-course meal, his happiness would know no bounds.
"Look, meow."
The little black cat proudly flicked its paw, and the objects on Lanchi's table began to levitate slightly.
It could use telekinetic magic, the only type of magic it was proficient in, although its weak power meant it had little offensive capability.
Additionally, its innate talent was the ability to hide within shadows.
It could be said that it was the weakest seventh-rank creature, without a doubt.
"Is there something you need from me?"
Lanchi naturally picked up the little black cat and looked at it gently as he asked.
"Umm... I want to take a walk around Icerite College, meow," the Cat Boss replied, averting its gaze as it lied.
It hadn't expected the boy to be so accepting, not questioning it further or blaming it for secretly following and intruding into his home without permission.
Cat Boss had been worried that Lanchi might be a scoundrel who deceived Talia, so it decided to observe the boy's behavior.
It loved sweet romances and considered itself a matchmaker.
No one understood the art of playing Cupid better than it did!
Alas, it had been discovered too soon.
It was just too inexperienced...
"In that case, it's getting late today. Do you want to stay here for the night? I can take you on a tour of the campus tomorrow," Lanchi offered with a friendly smile, his emerald green eyes warm and welcoming.
As a model student, he felt it was his duty and responsibility to showcase the best of the school to every visitor.
"Really?"
Cat Boss was surprised to find the boy so amenable!
He was so pure and kind, like a little angel, and it was no wonder that Talia had accepted him.
Moreover, the closer it got to the human, the more it felt a strange sense of familiarity, a sense of peace that made it want to curl up and sleep by his side...
"Of course," Lanchi replied with a smile.
Tomorrow, he was supposed to receive the international guest, Adams, and help Dean Lorren with matchmaking. He was always doing great deeds, and it was a perfect opportunity to show Cat Boss what he was all about.
He wondered if Cat Boss would enjoy watching him play Cupid.
