Chapter 182: Feather Scroll – New Chapter
Fujie listened to Zhang Yu and Bai Zhenzhen’s eager questions, then replied with a faint chuckle.
"Not that fast."
Feeling their skeptical glances, she quickly added, "I've been weakened for too long. Fully consuming this thing will take time."
"I only managed to suppress it temporarily before."
"It's like an ant gnawing at a chicken leg—eating it whole? That’s not something you can finish in one meal."
Fujie continued, "First, you need to help me completely devour this creature. Only after I’ve digested its Evil God essence will I be able to boost both of your potentials."
Under Fujie’s guidance, Zhang Yu pressed the black pearl—her transformed form—once more against the Bear Doll’s head.
About an hour later, the Bear Doll suddenly shattered, crumbling into ash that scattered into the air like dust.
"I’ll need to sleep for a day or two… once I’ve digested…"
Fujie managed to whisper before her voice trailed off, sinking into deep slumber. No matter how much Zhang Yu and Bai Zhenzhen called out, she remained unresponsive.
For the next two days, Fujie’s Black Pearl lay utterly lifeless, like a dead stone. Zhang Yu and Bai Zhenzhen could only continue training and earning money, waiting patiently for her to awaken.
During that time, they kept tabs on Song Xu’s situation through news reports and online updates.
But all they saw were headlines about the counterfeit Technique incident—no mention of Evil Gods, nor any cultists.
Bai Zhenzhen grew uneasy. "That final move of yours caused quite a commotion. Six cultists were consumed by backlash—everyone nearby saw them fall, their bodies burning from head to toe."
"Could someone have suspected an Evil God event? What if Zheng Shen has already started investigating?"
She bit her lip. "Maybe we should go back and check the apartment where the Evil God used to live? See if anyone’s been snooping around…"
"Hmm?" Zhang Yu glanced at her, silently thinking: A Zhen really lacks composure. Clearly not someone who’s ever committed a crime—jumping straight into the classic mistake of returning to the scene.
"What’s the point of going back? What difference would it make?" Zhang Yu said calmly. "We’ve already done everything we could. If someone is investigating, there’s nothing we can do to stop it."
"Better to focus on strengthening ourselves instead of obsessing over the past."
Zhang Yu clenched his fist, feeling the Martial Energy within him—now exceeding 90 points, surging stronger than ever.
"In Kunxu, the stronger you are, the more you earn. And the more you earn, the safer you become."
Fujie’s silence lasted until the third night.
A low groan echoed from within the black pearl, then Fujie’s voice rang out, triumphant and full of exhilaration.
"Perfect!"
She burst into laughter.
"Today, I reclaim my true rank. I return to the path of the Evil God! One day, I shall ascend once more—rising to the peak of Kunxu!"
Hearing her voice, Zhang Yu and Bai Zhenzhen—both in the room training—immediately snapped their attention to the pearl.
Zhang Yu grabbed it tightly. "How is it? Can you boost my potential now?"
Feeling the turbulent, fierce energy pulsing from his palm, Fujie hurriedly said, "Don’t rush, don’t rush—I’m doing it right now."
As she spoke, a chilling, unnatural force surged from Fujie’s Black Pearl, racing up Zhang Yu’s arm, across his shoulder, and along his neck—then plunging into his mind.
Instantly, Zhang Yu felt a sharp sting in his palm.
He opened his hand—and there, etched into his skin, was a transparent symbol. As the dark energy from the pearl intensified, the symbol rapidly darkened, visible to the naked eye.
Zhang Yu thought to himself: Just like the symbol from the first appearance of the Feather Scroll… only now it’s far more complex.
As the symbol turned completely black, the Feather Scroll materialized before him, slowly unfurling.
The first page remained the table of contents, with the words "Prologue" still clearly visible beneath the title.
But beneath that, the previously blurred line of text now began to sharpen into focus.
Zhang Yu stared intently.
Chapter One: Chain Law Diagram.
The scroll flipped on its own, pages turning smoothly at his mental command, landing precisely on the first chapter.
Jianti Thirty-Six Forms, Chisui Hunyuanqi, San Shou, High School Basic Sword Technique, Tianwu Cultivation of the Heart Scripture…
Every Technique Zhang Yu had ever learned was listed in full.
Below the list, a massive black scroll stretched out, like a night sky filled with stars.
When Zhang Yu focused his will on one of the Techniques, he discovered he could drag it—just like in the Prologue of the Feather Scroll.
He pulled Jianti Thirty-Six Forms upward and placed it onto the black canvas.
Instantly, the Technique transformed into a white star, sinking into the darkness of the scroll—like a single spark flickering in the vast night.
Beneath the star, three lines appeared:
- Beginner – High School Saint Body (1/6)
- Intermediate – High School Saint Body (1/8)
- Advanced – High School Saint Body (1/10)
Zhang Yu blinked, momentarily stunned. He wasn’t sure what it meant.
Then he tried dragging another Technique into the sky. He found that he could place up to ten Techniques total.
Each one, once transformed into a star, displayed the same three-tiered progression.
For example, Jianti Thirty-Six Forms had the High School Saint Body progression.
Chunqiu Wujin Chan showed Martial Dao Holy Embryo.
And so on.
Gradually, Zhang Yu understood.
So this Chain Law Diagram… it links Techniques together into a set. A synergy effect.
He decided to call it a Technique Set.
"Each set requires six Techniques to unlock the first effect, eight for the second, ten for the third."
He realized that Jianti Thirty-Six Forms, Basic Mind-Cultivation Method, and Basic Qi Circulation Method all belonged to the High School Saint Body set.
But both Basic Mind-Cultivation Method and Basic Qi Circulation Method showed their High School Saint Body labels in gray—unused, incomplete.
Zhang Yu guessed: Probably because I haven’t upgraded those basic Techniques much. They’re still below level 10.
Besides High School Saint Body, the set he had the most Techniques for was called All-Present Beggar, which included: Digging Palm, Crane Claw, Racing Leg, Elevator Leap.
"Sounds like a shady set. Not worth it."
He glanced at Martial Dao Holy Embryo—the one from Chunqiu Wujin Chan—then at Various Dragon Bloodline from Dragon-Elephant Crushing Mountain Palm and Beilong Fanyue Hand.
Then Tianwu Battle Heart from Tianwu Cultivation of the Heart Scripture, and Great Saint’s Successor from Huangniu Zhenhun Xinfa and Cannibal Cow Serenity Heart Technique.
Could "Great Saint" refer to the legendary Bull God who created Huangniu Zhenhun Xinfa and the Cannibal Cow Serenity Heart Technique?
"Yeah… but all these sets—Martial Dao Holy Embryo, Various Dragon Bloodline, Tianwu Battle Heart, Great Saint’s Successor—these are clearly powerful."
"But what do I need to complete them?"
Can I only discover which set a Technique belongs to after I’ve learned it?
If so, gathering a full set might take forever…
Zhang Yu frowned, then reached for his phone and opened the Technique marketplace.
Fujie and Bai Zhenzhen watched Zhang Yu closely, their expressions puzzled.
They saw him shift from confusion to excitement, then back to frustration—his face flashing with emotion like someone watching a movie.
Fujie muttered in her mind: Just activated a potential… why does he look like he’s watching a video? What kind of potential is this?
Bai Zhenzhen finally asked, "Yu, are you okay?"
"I’m fine. I’m better than ever." Zhang Yu laughed. "Never felt better."
He scrolled through the marketplace, reading each Technique’s description. With every one he finished reading, a clear image of its Technique Set flashed in his mind.
He thought: It’s still a hassle to search, but at least now I have a target.
Wait—no. I can’t keep doing this randomly.
He focused on the High School Saint Body set, noting the three foundational Techniques he already had. He searched the marketplace directly for "High School Basic Techniques"—and instantly found several more that belonged to the same set.
Same goes for others. I should look for Techniques by name and type—find patterns.
For over half an hour, Bai Zhenzhen and Fujie watched Zhang Yu scroll, laugh, frown, scroll again—until he finally sighed and put the phone down.
Zhang Yu sighed. "Damn… money’s not enough."
The Martial Dao Holy Embryo set requires Techniques like Chunqiu Wujin Chan—expensive Body Cultivation Arts.
Various Dragon Bloodline and Tianwu Battle Heart aren’t cheap either.
And I still haven’t found any other Techniques for Great Saint’s Successor.
"I’ll finish upgrading Chunqiu Wujin Chan to level 10 first. Then I’ll complete the High School Saint Body set—see what kind of effect it has."
With a clear understanding of the first chapter of the Feather Scroll—Chain Law Diagram—and a plan for his next steps, Zhang Yu finally looked up at Bai Zhenzhen.
"He wasn’t lying."
"It really did boost my Xian Dao Potential."
"But how much… that’ll take time to verify."
Bai Zhenzhen smiled, eyes full of anticipation. "Then it’s my turn now, right?"
Fujie said, "The Wish Ritual isn’t something you can pull off on a whim. We need to prepare properly."
"Follow the requirements I’m about to give. Buy what you need. Find the right place."
"Only when everything’s ready will we proceed."
