Chapter 182: Fall of Winter (II)
Kai Xiusu stared at the Frost Giant hurtling toward him, its aura blazing with icy fury, yet beneath the surface, his heart surged with delight.
This was the perfect chance to confront Divine-Level Power.
Deities in the Prime Material Plane were strictly contained—but even so, mighty gods could always find ways to influence the mortal realm.
Yet Solem was different. A primordial god of old, slumbering for tens of thousands of years. The only threat Kai Xiusu needed to fear came from the dwindling giant lineage—though even that did not include the kind-hearted Cloud Giants or Storm Giants.
In his past life, he’d heard rumors of a Frost Giant rising in Anzeta, wielding power beyond imagination, strength so vast it seemed divine. But back then, most players had already left the region, and no one paid attention to what came after. Now, at last, he could confirm it—the Frost Giant before him was none other than Kasa.
So Kai Xiusu had been waiting. Waiting for the moment Kasa would reveal his true hand.
The Red Dragon roared, wings flaring as it surged backward, breaking distance with a violent snap of its massive limbs.
"Just the echo of a buried god’s power... is that all your courage amounts to?"
Under the influence of Graceful as a Dragon, the membrane of his wings shimmered with spell-infused strength. The motion twisted space itself, hurling Kasa dozens of meters away in an instant.
As the battle raged, the spell’s effect grew stronger. Kai Xiusu’s Agility Attribute had now reached a terrifying 24—nearly on par with legendary rogues whose forms were said to vanish like shadows. But what was even more terrifying was that this speed was coming from a dragon.
The Frost Giant, riding the Blizzard, didn’t truly fly—more like being lifted by the storm. Its speed was sluggish, barely enough to keep pace with a common Red Dragon, let alone Kai Xiusu.
Realizing this, Kasa let out a guttural roar into the sky, desperate to provoke the Red Dragon into rage.
"Face me head-on!"
"Is this all the courage your kind has? A coward relying on magic?"
"Where is the famed close-combat mastery your race boasts?"
Kai Xiusu’s speed was now so great he could circle the Frost Giant’s flight path for several laps without ever touching him. But cautious as ever, he kept a calculated distance, striking only when the moment was perfect.
"Son of Winter! You’re a joke up here. This is not your domain!"
"You want a direct confrontation?"
Kai Xiusu sneered.
The Red Dragon flipped mid-air, tumbling backward—then locked eyes with the Frost Giant, truly meeting him in the open.
So much for Kasa’s dream of a brutal, hand-to-hand duel.
But what came next was not what he expected.
A glow bloomed in Kai Xiusu’s chest. His Basal Vessels surged to maximum capacity, channeling every ounce of Fire Elemental Energy through his body and into his core.
He grinned, a jagged, feral expression, his throat deep within building a furnace of power. With his strength now at its peak, he hadn’t unleashed a full breath attack in a long time.
"Then I’ll give you what you want."
And with that, the Red Dragon unleashed.
"BANG—!"
A pillar of blinding white flame erupted from his maw, scorching the air itself, tearing a searing rift through the sky.
The devastating Flame Column tore through the Blizzard, barreling straight toward Kasa’s skull.
Kasa swung his Winter Roar across his body, shielding himself with the Ice Crystal Dual-Blade Axe.
The blade looked fragile—like glass about to shatter. Yet it acted like a black hole, devouring the torrent of Flame Breath. The immense energy vanished into it, leaving only a few barely visible droplets of water.
"The Red Dragon… your fire is powerful."
"But it cannot melt the Ice of Father God!"
With a roar, Kasa swung his axe, and three massive ice blades shot forth—each stretching several meters in length.
Within them pulsed a sliver of the God of Cold’s power. Any creature struck would slow, freeze, and eventually fall into an eternal winter slumber.
But Kai Xiusu, now possessing an Agility Attribute that had surged even further, simply shifted his wings laterally. His massive body twisted through the narrow space—less than ten meters wide—evading the attack with ease.
"Frost Giant… you’re too slow!" Kai Xiusu mocked.
And it was true. With Time-Space Power wrapping tighter around the battlefield, Kasa’s movements felt sluggish—like watching a dream in slow motion.
All the while, Kai Xiusu had been guiding the fight carefully—keeping distance, never fully breaking away, always just out of reach.
The Red Dragon’s Agility Attribute was nearing 30. The spell’s duration was running out.
"Progress is going perfectly."
"Time to end this."
Kai Xiusu thought.
Kasa, unaware, roared with fervor:
"Your spell can’t last forever!"
"You want to toy with me? You’ll pay for your pride!"
The Frost Giant swung his Frost Roar, and the icy wind exploded outward, swallowing the Red Dragon whole. The God of Cold’s presence silenced everything—life, motion, thought. Movement slowed to a crawl.
Gripping his axe, Kasa’s eyes burned with anticipation. He waited—just a little longer—until the spell expired. Then he’d charge, using Solem’s Divine Power to cleave the dragon in two.
But Kasa never noticed the flicker of excitement in Kai Xiusu’s eyes.
Suddenly, the Red Dragon slowed.
No more retreat. No more dance.
It turned slowly, deliberately, and locked its gaze upon the Frost Giant.
Kasa’s blood ran cold.
In this moment, he realized—this cunning dragon had a plan.
He’d been trapped.
And he was.
"Winter… it’s time to end."
Kai Xiusu spoke, standing at the heart of the very place he had prepared long ago—the Frost Giant’s Final Resting Place.
[Kingdom Domain: Prohibition]
An invisible force expanded outward. The elemental energy around him bent to his will. All magical forces became his subjects—even the very Weave of Magic itself fell under his command.
The surge of magic stilled. The world fell silent.
For Divine Power, too, was magic.
Kai Xiusu had long known this domain possessed a strange repulsion toward divine essence. It was this very power that had erased Tiamat’s mental imprint, left behind through illusion. If it could resist the Mother of Monsters herself, then what chance did a mere fragment of Solem’s ancient divine power have?
"This… this can’t be…"
Kasa stared in disbelief.
His Ice Crystal axe—once a sacred relic of divine might—began to melt. Just like ordinary ice.
The swirling cold wind around his body vanished.
He plummeted from nearly a hundred meters in the air, crashing hard, rolling multiple times before managing to stop. His immense Constitution held him together, but he was broken.
Slowly, painfully, he lifted his head.
He looked up at the Red Dragon—no longer a beast, but a god in the sky.
He reached for his axe.
But then he saw it.
The Ice Crystal, now in the Red Dragon’s claws.
The divine power—claimed.
"It’s over… all over…"
Kasa lowered his head, face ashen, whispering in despair.
