Chapter 1810: A War Without Victors (Two Hundred and Sixty)
Chapter 1810: A War Without Victors (Two Hundred and Sixty)
"Dead!" Albert exclaimed as he saw the word "Goodbye" appear on the communication bookmark. He paused briefly from looting the spoils of war, sent a "Goodbye" back to Nelson, and then tossed the bookmark aside. He turned his attention back to the pile of old books stacked on the shelves, waved his wand gently, and the books neatly fell into the open box.
After all the books were put away, Albert directed his wand elsewhere. Ancient and wealthy wizarding families never lacked valuable possessions, and with a wave of Albert's wand, these items flew into the open box as if they had grown wings.
Although Albert was indeed wealthy and didn't lack Galleons, allowing these items to be consumed by the Raging Inferno Curse still felt like a tremendous waste to him. Waste was a shameful act.
Moreover, these were Albert's spoils of the night.
Well, it was undeniable that Albert was making excuses for his plunder, but sometimes being able to convince one's conscience was enough. Besides, Albert didn't consider himself a robber; he was merely redistributing the wealth stolen by the robbers and using it for more meaningful purposes.
Not to mention, no one knew about this incident, and even if it were to be discovered later, Nelson would take the fall for him.
Albert felt no guilt whatsoever. After all, it was just a transaction, one that benefited everyone involved. Nelson had clearly achieved his revenge, as evidenced by his taking the time to bid Albert a final farewell.
"Since it's over there, it should be over here too!" Albert turned back to the Parkinson couple, who were under the control of a spell. Under their terrified gaze, he waved his wand and erased their previous memories, then put the couple back to sleep.
Having "inherited" a portion of the Parkinson family's wealth, Albert wasn't cruel enough to let the couple die in agony.
After all, if they became ghosts or something similar, it would be extremely troublesome.
This was, after all, the magical world, and it never hurt to be cautious.
Albert turned to leave as the Raging Inferno engulfed the Parkinson manor.
With Nelson dead, the operation should come to an end.
Moreover, he had something more important to do—to uproot the problem entirely.
Since the Parkinson and Malfoy families had disappeared because of him, Albert would not allow their son to continue living. He couldn't bear the revenge plot in novels and didn't want a similar dramatic storyline to unfold in his life.
Fortunately, things went smoother than expected. Albert used various methods and took some time to extract information from the Parkinson couple, learning about the whereabouts of Pansy Parkinson and her son.
Yes, Pansy Parkinson, the daughter of the Parkinson couple, did not live there.
According to the memories extracted from the couple, Pansy had taken her son, Scorpius Malfoy, to France for a temporary stay, and they were currently living in a safe house.
Albert had arrived silently and was leaving in the same manner. With a wave of his wand, he took away a pile of spoils.
Using the memories extracted from the Parkinsons' minds, Albert quickly located the house where Pansy and her son were staying in France.
It was an inconspicuous house, somewhat like a safe house, fortified with numerous protective spells to ensure the mother and son were not disturbed by outsiders.
However, for a skilled wizard like Albert, it was no challenge. He gently waved his old wand and silently dispelled the protective spells around the house, then located the sleeping mother and son in the bedroom.
Albert did not use the Avada Kedavra curse like Voldemort to kill this pitiful mother and son. Instead, he cast a powerful Stunning Spell on them and fed them a large amount of Living Water before silently leaving the house. He then reinforced the protective spells on the house to ensure no one would disturb them for at least a month.
In reality, it was only natural that no one would disturb them.
Pansy and her son, Scorpius, had come to France to escape disaster, not for a vacation.
This also meant that it was highly unlikely for them to wake up again, and they would simply pass away peacefully in their sleep. Perhaps this was Albert's greatest act of mercy!
At the very least, Miss Pansy wouldn't have to face the devastating news of her family's demise and could rely on the substantial emergency Galleon stash that Mr. Parkinson had left for his daughter.
Even without breaking into the ancient family's Gringotts vault, the night's haul was still astonishingly large.
However, Albert had no intention of carrying this massive "inheritance" with him, not knowing if there were any tracking spells or similar magic on it.
He divided the loot into several portions, marked them, and buried them in different locations. He planned to retrieve them as treasures after ten or twenty years.
After all, Albert had no shortage of Galleons and saw no need to take risks.
After completing all this, Albert, feeling elated, removed his disguise and prepared to return to sleep, extending his alibi along the way.
When he used the Time Turner to go back a few hours, he found Isabella waiting for him in the hall.
"Is it over there?"
Isabella put down her book, looked up at Albert, and said something incomprehensible.
"Yeah, it's over," Albert hesitated for a moment, not intending to hide anything from her. He nodded and whispered, "At least it's over on the British side."
"You've worked hard!"
Isabella walked up to him and hugged Albert.
Albert hesitated for a moment, seemingly considering whether to embrace his wife with his bloodstained hands.
The latest chapter is now available!
"I don't mind." Isabella kissed Albert's lips and murmured, "You must have had your reasons for doing that!"
"All threats have been eliminated, and no one can threaten your and Alice's safety anymore." Albert hugged Isabella, inhaling her familiar scent, and whispered, "From now on, we can live our lives freely and without worry!"
"Ahem, I was saying..."
Katrina leaned against the door frame, watching the young couple kissing, feeling a mix of emotions.
"Are you keeping something from me again?"
"It's just a little marital fun." Isabella made an excuse to dismiss her sister.
"Never mind, then."
Katrina was a little dissatisfied and muttered, "How long are you going to keep hugging? Aren't you going to go back to sleep?"
"Go and hug her."
Isabella smiled and patted Albert's shoulder gently, offering a friendly reminder.
"I'm not a child." Katrina complained, but her body still relished the embrace.
To be honest, she wanted to have a child.
(End of Volume)
This book is almost finished.
To be honest, I regret writing this part, but I kept my promise and wrote it anyway.
As for the continuation of the story, I'll write some short stories about other characters. If you want to see the continuation of a particular character, let me know in the group, and I'll write it. Then, I'll truly be done with the book.
The reason I'm not writing it in the book is that I haven't checked reviews in a long time, and I'm afraid of getting criticized.
I'll take a two-day break first.
As for the new book, I'll decide once I have a solid idea.
