Chapter 181: The Wicked Capitalist Professor Jing He
Chapter 181: The Wicked Capitalist Professor Jing He
TheYoungLad: Coffee? What's that?
Huh?
Jing He was taken aback.
Is there really someone in the Pokemon world who doesn't know what coffee is? After all, this person was playing with a smartphone and seemed pretty adept at it. Not knowing coffee just didn't make sense.
But he didn't dwell on it too much.
JingInJing: It's a kind of beverage, I guess, to help you stay awake.
TheYoungLad: A beverage?
For some reason, Jing He suddenly felt like he was talking to someone who had just emerged from seclusion.
JingInJing: You'll know once you try it. By the way, where are you?
TheYoungLad: The Ruined World.
Alright.
Jing He felt he should change this person's nickname from "TheYoungLad" to "TheMiddleSchoolLad."
JingInJing: There's nothing I can do about that.
JingInJing: If you're really bored, you can train your Pokemon. Or, you can catch up on some shows. There's a good one called "The Adventures of Bubble Squirrel."
TheYoungLad: The Adventures of Bubble Squirrel?
TheYoungLad: I understand!
Middle school lads probably enjoy shows like that, with tastes similar to those of a Gastly.
The more time he could keep the other person occupied, the better it would be for a "cold treatment."
The Ruined World.
Reshiram, in its Origin Form, gazed at the small screen in front of it, its expression thoughtful.
Although Jing He's message was cut off, Reshiram understood the meaning.
If it was really bored, it could train its Pokemon!
Even though ordinary Pokemon seemed weak to it, there were a few with potential that might rise in the future.
"Roar!"
Reshiram quickly shut its mouth.
It couldn't say or think about it!
It glanced at the still silent Ruined World, repeating in its mind—
Bubble Squirrel, Bubble Squirrel, Bubble Squirrel.
But it also realized that in the future, it might need some relatively ordinary Pokemon to assist it.
That "little account" was pretty good.
Its potential was recognized by Reshiram.
This was evident from the fact that "little account" (Gengar) had integrated a strand of Reshiram's energy without any discomfort.
But before that—
It should watch "The Adventures of Bubble Squirrel" first.
Time passed quietly.
Three days later, Jing He woke up to the familiar "lick" from Gengar.
He followed his usual routine, helping the little ones get ready, eat breakfast, and then prepared to go to the academy.
But when he reached the first floor and saw the queue outside the closed door, he was bewildered.
What's going on?
Logically, his coffee shop wasn't in a great location, and he hadn't done any advertising. On the first day, only acquaintances had shown up.
Reasonably, business should have gotten worse each day, with fewer customers.
But the reality was different.
From the second day, a few new customers started coming in, and the number increased each day.
Now, on the third day, people were already queuing up before the shop even opened?
Although Jing He was confident in his coffee-making skills and most people who tried it gave high praise, it didn't make sense for so many new customers to keep coming.
Moreover, his shop only served coffee, nothing else.
But Gengar, seeing the satisfied expressions of the many customers, felt—
Not bad.
The posters were starting to have an effect.
"Geengar~"
It skillfully put on its server uniform, floated to the door, and opened it to welcome the guests.
The other three little ones also sprang into action, more enthusiastically than Jing He himself.
A short distance away from the coffee shop, in a small alley, three suspicious figures crouched, secretly watching the distant cafe.
"This is the place."
Kojirou glanced at the address on the piece of paper in his hand.
"This is our Rocket Team's branch in Hoenn? A coffee shop called 'A Ray of Sunshine'?" Butch looked skeptical.
"Greatness lies in the ordinary, miow."
"Sou~ nan-si~"
"Enough! Let's go!"
Butch was about to stride towards the coffee shop when Kojirou and Meowth pulled him back.
"Butch, stay hidden! Our mission is to help the advisor officer open the coffee shop without revealing the Rocket Team's identity!"
"Right, miow. We'll be the heroes who help the Rocket Team expand in Hoenn, miow!"
"Sou~ nan-si~"
"Alright, alright, I get it!"
Butch recalled Persian and used one of their signature moves—disguise!
After dealing with the morning rush of office workers buying coffee, Gengar tugged at Jing He's shirt while he was cleaning the counter.
"Geengar!"
There's a job applicant!
Huh?
Jing He's face lit up, and he looked up.
But when he saw the three figures at the door, his expression fell.
Not that anyone other than Ash and his friends would fail to recognize them in their disguises.
Two people with a Meowth, acting suspiciously—
"Advisor officer! The officer who scares even the girl with the watermelon glasses is so cool!" Butch got excited.
"Shh! We need to hide our identities!"
A black line appeared on Jing He's forehead.
Could you whisper a little quieter?
But Butch's observation skills weren't bad.
Wait.
Butch's observation skills—
"Hey, you three—"
Seeing them huddle together right in front of him, Jing He, who didn't have time to waste, couldn't help but speak up.
Butch almost reflexively started—
"Since you are sincerely—Mmm! Mmm!"
Fortunately, Kojirou and Meowth reacted quickly, covering her mouth simultaneously.
"Hide! We need to hide our identities, Butch!"
Butch blinked, coming back to his senses.
Suddenly, a Poke Ball opened, and a red beam shot out.
"Snorlax!"
Just as it finished speaking, a question mark appeared above Snorlax's head. It seemed to realize that the introduction hadn't gone as planned. It scratched its head awkwardly.
Huh?
Snorlax?
Butch had already captured Snorlax this early?
Jing He was taken aback.
He found it quite unexpected.
Weren't they supposed to get Snorlax when Ash set out, and Butch and his team accidentally traded for it at the Pokemon Exchange Meet?
Perhaps this was fate.
"Hello, sir, we're here to apply for a job. Here's our recommendation letter."
In the end, it was James who stepped forward to speak to Jing He.
Applying for a job at a cafe with a recommendation letter?
Jing He glanced at the envelope, his eye twitching slightly. He took a deep breath and said, "I'll make a call."
He pulled out his phone and dialed a number.
"Hey, Janine, what's the deal with these three morons?"
Morons?
Are you talking about us?
Butch, James, and Meowth exchanged glances.
"Teacher Jing He, please let me explain."
On the other end, Janine chuckled nervously. She now understood that Jing He and Boss Giovanni had reached a special understanding.
As Boss Giovanni had said, an outside observer could see things clearly, and Team Rocket needed an advisor who could act as an "outsider."
So, she no longer tested Jing He's attitude toward Team Rocket. She had also sternly told the trio to hide their identities.
"They are Mr. Giovanni's relatives. They're not very good at battling and are looking for a job to make ends meet. And you, Teacher Jing He, happen to be hiring, so..."
Jing He sneered.
"Janine, do you think I run a charity?"
"No, no, Teacher Jing He, they can make some pastries and dishes," Janine quickly added.
"Is that so?"
Jing He looked at the trio and asked, "Can you make pastries?"
"I, I can do a little," James raised his hand.
"We can also work as servers, meow."
"Alright," Jing He nodded.
Before they could relax, he turned to James and said, "Try making a pastry with all the flavors—sweet, sour, bitter, and spicy. Then make a coffee with a rainbow of colors."
?!
Looking at Butch and Meowth's encouraging faces, James opened his mouth but didn't know what to say.
What kind of dark cooking is this?
Would anyone order this?
Jing He huffed and said to Janine, "See, they can't do it."
Then he asked, "How did you three get to Hoenn?"
The trio spoke at once.
Meowth: "By hot air balloon, meow!"
Butch: "By submarine!"
James: "By swimming!"
Jing He: "..."
The trio glared at each other.
No teamwork at all!
Jing He took a deep breath and said into the phone, "So, they're illegal immigrants with no identities."
"Um, well..."
Janine was speechless.
What identities do Team Rocket members have?
Jing He walked to the side and said, "Two million, and I'll train them."
"Deal!"
Janine didn't hesitate.
At the same time, she realized something.
Training—how to win the hearts and stomachs of ordinary people.
Teacher Jing He was showing the way forward for Team Rocket.
This money wasn't wasted!
Jing He also sighed inwardly.
So decisive, did I ask for too little?
Paying two million to hire them, Boss Giovanni must really care about these three.
He walked back to the trio and asked, "Five thousand a month, does that work?"
The trio exchanged looks and huddled together to whisper.
"Advisor, he looks fierce, but he seems nice?"
"And five thousand a month! That's amazing!"
"Advisor is running the Hoenn branch alone and still pays us. We can't let him down, meow!"
"Meowth is right!"
The trio quickly returned to Jing He and said in unison, "No problem!"
Jing He turned away, feeling a bit guilty.
Two million, plus three workers, and a Snorlax thrown in.
While Team Rocket's main job (catching Pikachu) wasn't great, their side skills were something Jing He trusted.
"Advisor, um..."
James started to speak but was silenced by a glare from Jing He.
"We... what will we be responsible for? Making the flavored cake or the rainbow coffee?" James asked quietly.
Jing He's mouth twitched.
"Those are too advanced. Just do the ordinary ones."
"Oh~~~"
James let out a deep breath.
"Then, how should we address you, Advisor, Boss, President...?" Meowth asked.
"Call me Teacher Jing He."
Teacher Jing He?
James was taken aback.
It sounded familiar somehow?
"Also, from now on, you three report to Gengar." Jing He pointed behind him.
Gengar?
From the shadows, Gengar floated out, grinning wickedly. It licked Jing He and then cackled at the trio.
"Gengar!"
Call me President Gengar from now on!
They are all Vice-Presidents.
