Chapter 181: Polyjuice Potion
Chapter 181: Polyjuice Potion
Ivan felt a bit helpless. Based on the exploration progress he gained from exploring the Gryffindor common room and the Boys' Dormitory, even if he finished exploring the three major houses, he wouldn't be able to push the progress above seventy percent.
This meant he would have to visit either the Girls' Dormitory or the Chamber of Secrets.
After hesitating between life and dignity, Ivan decisively chose to abandon the latter.
Fortunately, there was a perfect opportunity on Saturday. Hermione usually went to the Library to read books.
Thinking of this, Ivan scooped a large amount of the Potion from his Cauldron with a spoon, poured it into a transparent glass vial, and then took out the brown hair from his pocket, dropping it into the vial.
The originally dark, thick, and muddy Potion suddenly began to bubble like boiling water, eventually settling into a bright brown color.
On Saturday morning,
Ivan waited in the common room and smoothly met Hermione, who was carrying a stack of books.
"Ivan, do you want to go to the Library to read?" Hermione greeted him happily and asked.
"No, Ron invited me to play Wizard's Chess in the dormitory. I won't be going today", Ivan shook his head and politely declined Hermione's invitation.
The young witch was a bit disappointed but didn't pay too much attention, continuing her daily routine alone.
Ivan waited for a while, took out the Marauder's Map, and confirmed that Hermione was stationary in the Library. Only then did he head to the Room of Requirement, retrieved the Polyjuice Potion, and drank the brown Potion in one go.
The taste was actually quite good.
Ivan smacked his lips, somewhat surprised.
This wasn't the first time he had drunk the Polyjuice Potion. According to the original story, it should have been quite unpleasant.
But he remembered that everyone experienced a different taste.
Before Ivan could think more about it, he felt a tingling sensation all over his body.
It was the complete opposite of the feeling he had when he transformed into Voldemort. Ivan keenly sensed that he was shrinking and becoming shorter. His short hair gradually grew and reached his shoulders, curling and changing from golden to brown.
When Ivan opened his eyes again, he felt his clothes were noticeably loose.
Ivan drew his wand and tapped the nearest mahogany table, turning it into a large full-length mirror. He looked at his reflection.
The person in the mirror looked exactly like Hermione he had just seen.
Of course, the clothes were a bit off.
Ivan suddenly realized this frustrating problem: he didn't have a girl's school uniform!
"I should have just learned Parseltongue from Tom and explored the Chamber of Secrets!" Ivan looked at the "Hermione" in the mirror, wearing a boy's school uniform, and frowned in frustration.
But Ivan sighed and finally resigned himself to using a Transfiguration Spell to modify the clothes based on his memory of a girl's uniform.
Ivan wasn't sure if he could learn Parseltongue. In his memory, only Dumbledore could understand it through self-study.
The others, Voldemort and Harry, had different reasons: Voldemort through his bloodline and Harry due to a Horcrux.
Moreover, whether Tom would be willing to teach him was uncertain.
"Alright, the skirt is too short; it should reach the knees. The collar also needs to be adjusted", Ivan used the Transfiguration Spell to make various adjustments, trying to replicate Hermione's attire as closely as possible.
Fortunately, Hermione wasn't the type of witch who liked to dress up elaborately. She usually wore the standard school uniform, otherwise, Ivan might have given up.
After transforming his clothes, Ivan looked at the full-length mirror again and felt that something was still off about the young witch in front of him. After a moment, he slapped his forehead.
He was missing books!
In the morning, in the Gryffindor common room, Harry and Ron were playing the deluxe version of Wizard's Chess that Ivan had given them. Unicorns and Thestrals were engaged in a fierce battle on the small chessboard, with occasional dazzling lights flying around.
"Harry, your moves are terrible", Ron directed a Thestral to kick Dumbledore, who was a white-bearded figure, off the chessboard.
It was hard not to feel a sense of achievement when seeing this, as if he had won a real wizard's war.
"It's because Ron is too good. Next time, you should play with Ivan", Harry picked up the damaged chess piece and shook his head helplessly.
"I'd have to find him first", Ron complained.
Since the start of the term, Ivan had been missing, and they couldn't find him except during classes and sleep.
Ron was cleaning the chessboard when he turned around and saw Hermione walk into the common room with a stack of books. He asked her immediately.
"Hermione, have you seen Ivan today?"
"Hmm?" Ivan was taken aback. "I'm right here, aren't I?"
Fortunately, Ivan quickly realized his identity had changed. Recalling Hermione's tone, he huffed and glanced at the two of them.
"How should I know where he went?"
After saying that, Ivan felt awkward, finding it embarrassing to mimic a girl's voice. He quickly quickened his pace towards the Girls' Dormitory.
Harry and Ron didn't notice anything unusual, just thinking Hermione seemed a bit more irritable today.
Once away from them, Ivan let out a sigh of relief.
He hadn't expected to run into Harry and Ron so soon after returning to the common room. He had checked the Marauder's Map in the Room of Requirement, and they were still in the dormitory.
But Ivan thought he hadn't exposed any obvious flaws.
The usual chat topics wouldn't likely come up in conversations between Harry and Ron and Hermione.
In fact, Ivan had considered using the Polyjuice Potion to disguise himself as an unfamiliar girl, but he dismissed the idea because it would be easy to be exposed if he encountered a close friend of the girl.
Ivan felt he was familiar enough with Hermione, knowing she didn't have many friends among the girls, which was why she often hung out with the three boys.
While thinking, Ivan found himself already in the hallway of the Girls' Dormitory.
Groups of young witches chatted and laughed as they walked past him, the air filled with various scents of perfume, and occasionally, he saw a few lower-year girls playing and laughing.
Ivan kept his eyes forward. He was here to explore the mysterious castle, and this just happened to be part of his exploration.
Only when someone greeted him did he smile and nod in acknowledgment.
