Chapter 181: Jerry's Speculation (Third Update)
Chapter 181: Jerry's Speculation (Third Update)
Thor nodded:
"Sure, the materials used to make Mjolnir are stronger than Destroyer's Uru Metal. Unfortunately, I can't lift it anymore!"
"No problem, I know how to fix it!"
Jerry turned to Captain America, who was holding a shield.
"Are you Mr. Rogers, Captain America?"
Jerry quickly walked over to Captain America, who was standing with a serious expression, holding his shield and staring at Destroyer.
Steve hesitated for a moment, then nodded.
"Indeed, you look exactly like the history books describe. I've thought of a way to deal with Destroyer, but I need you to come with me to the base temporarily!"
If Jerry's memory served him right, Captain America could also lift Mjolnir.
"Sure!"
Steve hesitated slightly but then nodded. He had already read all the information about Wizard before coming. This was a child full of justice and capable of performing incredible magic.
Since the other party claimed to have found a way to destroy the terrifying machine, he was willing to trust him.
"Try to hold it off for a bit. Remember, just hold it off. I'm going to bring Mjolnir over!"
Jerry instructed Tony and the others, then cast a levitation charm on the somewhat bewildered Captain America, pulling him by his coat and flying quickly toward the base.
Thor, who couldn't help much, watched Jerry leave and muttered, scratching the back of his head:
"Shouldn't I be the one to get Mjolnir?"
He thought that if Jerry's magic could unlock Mjolnir's bond, it would make more sense to take the real Thor. What good would it do to take the shield-wielding guy?
What Thor didn't know was that Jerry had no power to break Odin's seal. He was merely selecting a temporary owner for Mjolnir.
S.H.I.E.L.D. Base,
Jerry and Steve descended from the sky, landing where Mjolnir was.
"Captain, pick up that hammer!"
"Me? I thought only Thor from Asgard could lift it?"
Steve was a bit confused but still walked over to Mjolnir as instructed.
At this moment, Jerry noticed Steve's doubt and explained:
"This Mjolnir seems to have a special seal that tests the heart. My unique investigative magic revealed that it might not necessarily require Thor himself to lift it. Anyone who passes the test can do it!
Right now, I believe you, Captain, are the most likely to pass the test!"
The investigative magic was, of course, a fabrication. But as long as Jerry didn't reveal it, who would know he was lying? After all, magic is unexplainable, and the various magical feats he had already demonstrated were indeed extraordinary. Adding one more detection spell wouldn't be out of place.
Hearing this, Steve nodded and reached out to grab Mjolnir's handle.
However, as soon as he exerted a bit of force to lift Mjolnir by about a millimeter, it suddenly slipped from his grasp and shot through the air like a meteor, heading back to the battle site.
Immediately, Jerry saw a heavy thunderclap followed by a barrage of lightning bolts raining down from the clouds.
"Captain, let's go back and see!"
Jerry grabbed Steve's leather jacket and quickly flew back to the battlefield.
As they approached, they saw Thor, clad in his silver war armor and red cape, swinging Mjolnir and summoning a whirlwind. With a powerful series of strikes, he reduced Destroyer to a pile of scrap.
He fully showcased his over a thousand years of hammer-wielding skills.
"Damn, what's going on here?"
Jerry was also quite bewildered at this moment.
His plan was that if Thor couldn't pick up Mjolnir for the time being, having Captain America do it would be just as good. Captain America with Mjolnir would still be incredibly powerful.
Once Captain America dealt with the Destroyer, he would then try to figure out how to gradually remove the seal on Thor.
But now, who could tell him how Thor's seal was broken?
"Wizard, you're amazing! I never thought you'd actually break Odin's seal!"
After defeating the Destroyer, Thor saw Jerry appear and immediately flew over to him with Mjolnir, giving him a big hug.
Jerry was even more bewildered.
"Go to the Bifrost and wait for me. I need to go back and have a serious talk with my brother, but before that, I need to say goodbye to Jane!"
After hugging Jerry, Thor told the Warriors Three and Warrior Sif to wait for him at the Bifrost, then flew off towards Old Bridge Town with Mjolnir.
"Coulson, what happened just now?"
After setting Steve down, Jerry immediately found Coulson, who had been directing a group of agents to provide support with handguns from a distance.
After a brief conversation, he learned what had happened after he left.
It turned out that after Jerry left with Steve, everyone, except Thor, had been using various methods to delay the Destroyer.
Tony flew in the air, using modern weapons to harass and attack, while the Warriors Three and Warrior Sif relied on their far superior physical strength to engage in close combat.
Hawkeye Barton and Coulson's team used arrows and handguns to provide auxiliary attacks.
However, it was clear that their attacks couldn't cause the Destroyer any damage, but they did manage to stall it.
But not long after, Thor, who had been hiding, suddenly burst into lightning, donned a silver war armor, and summoned Mjolnir with a wave of his hand.
Now, everyone assumed that Jerry and Captain America had gone to the base and found a way to break Odin's seal.
Jerry furrowed his brow and thought for a moment, then his body suddenly stiffened. He sighed inwardly:
"Old is still the best!"
He had just gone through the entire Thor incident from start to finish, and combined it with some of the rumors he had heard in his previous life. Finally, he came up with a possible explanation for what had just happened.
Perhaps Odin wasn't truly asleep, or rather, Odin knew everything that was happening.
Think about it. Odin, the most powerful god who unified the Nine Realms, wouldn't fail to notice a few Frost Giants sneaking into Asgard's treasury.
Moreover, without Odin's approval, would Heimdall have opened the Bifrost for Thor, allowing him and his companions to go to Jotunheim to confront the Frost Giants?
And it was just so coincidental that Thor was stripped of his powers and sent to Earth, and Odin immediately fell into a coma. Wasn't this a clear sign to Loki that he could do whatever he wanted?
So, combining all the events that had transpired, Jerry had a bold hypothesis.
From the beginning, everything had been orchestrated by Odin, the All-Father. This was a test and a trial for his two sons, Thor and Loki.
