Chapter 1807: A War with No Winners (257)
Chapter 1807: A War with No Winners (257)
Regarding Umbridge, the old witch, Neville and Seamus held no favor for her, but witnessing her torment under the Cruciatus Curse, they couldn't help but feel a twinge of pity, unlike Nelsen and Will, whose hearts were as hard as iron.
However, they didn't try to stop them, pretending not to hear Umbridge's screams and silently consoling themselves that she deserved this punishment.
Moreover, Will was holding back. Otherwise, given Umbridge's age, she should have passed out from the agony of the Cruciatus Curse by now.
If Umbridge were to faint from the pain, it would lose its impact. Besides, Nelsen would likely be disappointed to find her half-dead upon his arrival. So, Will only unleashed a severe punishment on Umbridge before refraining from using the Cruciatus Curse on her again.
Instead, he changed his approach. He took out a whip he had prepared beforehand from his pocket and lashed it vigorously at Umbridge, who was hanging upside down in mid-air. After her screams weakened from the successive blows, Will released the magic and threw her back into the prison cell.
"I thought you would..."
Neville and Seamus exchanged glances, both surprised that Will had let Umbridge off so easily.
"If I had really killed that old witch, Nelsen would be disappointed when he arrives. He's been saying he wants to kill this old woman himself." Will explained to the two, "He should be here soon. Let's wait for him!"
Nelsen didn't keep the three waiting for long. He landed on his flying broomstick at the entrance of Azkaban Prison, waved casually at the three as if greeting old friends, and handed his broomstick to Neville.
"Why are you giving this to me?" Neville asked, his face filled with confusion.
"What happens next has nothing to do with you, and you shouldn't get involved. Just leave on your broomstick now!"
As Nelsen spoke, Will also picked up his broomstick and handed it to Seamus, turning to ask his old partner, "Do you think they'll send someone?"
"I don't know, and I don't care. Are you really not going to leave?" Nelsen's gaze towards Will was particularly complex.
"No, I can't leave. After all, Grell killed Kingsley's entire family. I don't think Kingsley will let me off easily!" Will shrugged, speaking casually about a chilling matter.
Neville and Seamus, standing nearby, were completely dumbfounded. They couldn't believe what they had just heard and stood there, holding their broomsticks, staring at the backs of the two as they prepared to leave.
Suddenly, Nelsen stopped and turned to the two standing behind him. "You heard that too, right? So, you must pretend that we forced you out of Azkaban Prison, or you might become the target of their anger."
"Let's go. I'm leaving Umbridge to you."
Without further attention to Neville and Seamus, who were still standing in a daze, the two headed into the prison, chatting with their companions about their achievements that night.
"What should we do now?"
Neville stared at the broomstick in his hand and turned to Seamus, whose face was filled with helplessness and a bitter smile.
"You're asking me? Who should I ask?"
Seamus was still in a daze. "I feel like they're setting us up!"
In this world, there is a phenomenon called 'displaced anger.' Although what happened tonight was mostly Kingsley's doing, they had 'neglected their duties,' allowing Nelsen and Will to commit an 'unforgivable' crime in Azkaban Prison.
To be honest, Seamus was doubtful if he could keep his job.
Neville's situation, on the other hand, was not a concern. After all, he had already secured a new position, and even if he were to be dismissed from the Ministry, he could seamlessly transition to teaching Herbology at Hogwarts.
"It shouldn't be... I mean, anyone with eyes can see what happened tonight. Kingsley wouldn't make us take the fall for this. At most, they'll dock a month or two of our pay," Neville offered some comforting words before flying off on his broomstick towards the outer reaches of the island.
What happened next was something they couldn't easily involve themselves in.
Nelsen intended to set everything ablaze, turning the wizard prison into a complete ruin. For the two who couldn't extinguish fires, staying in Azkaban posed a significant risk.
"There seem to be more people on that list?"
Will's question came as Nelsen crushed a prisoner's head with a Crushing Curse.
"We have other accomplices. He'll take care of the remaining tough nuts!" Nelsen didn't hide the fact, certain that Albert would clean up the remaining trash.
While they talked, another name on the short revenge list was crossed out.
"Accomplices, so we have other accomplices! Who are they? Our people or the Ministry's?" Will paid no mind to the exploding heads and blood splattering on the walls, instead closing the iron door behind him.
"Neither!"
Even on the brink of death, Nelsen kept his promise and didn't reveal Albert's involvement to anyone.

"It must be a formidable individual, at least someone capable of casting the Raging Fire Curse, or breaking into those ancient wizards' manors wouldn't be easy!"
There were many willing to provide assistance, but few in the vast British magical world could accomplish this effortlessly.
If he further ruled out those he didn't know, it wouldn't be difficult to narrow down the possibilities. Will quickly sifted through the options in his mind, "Sirius Black, or perhaps that..."
"Are you concerned about it?" Sirius Black, or perhaps..."
"You're concerned?"
Nelsen didn't answer directly, instead, he quickened his actions.
"Not at all!" Will shook his head.
"If that's the case, let's not delay any further. Delays can lead to variables!"
If Grell hadn't killed Kingsley's entire family, they would have had ample time to deal with the Azkaban prisoners. But now, it was hard to say. Who knew when the Ministry officials would show up outside Azkaban Prison?
In fact, Nelsen wasn't wrong. Initially, Neville and Seamus had planned to wait until they set Azkaban Prison ablaze before returning to the Ministry for help. But before they could, Kingsley appeared with his team outside the island of Azkaban.
"Nelsen and his group launched a surprise attack and have taken control of Azkaban Prison," Neville and Seamus hurriedly reported to Kingsley.
The Minister, who had just lost his entire family, looked particularly grim.
"It's good that you're safe," Kingsley didn't blame them but instructed the Head of the Auror Office, "Announce their presence and ask them to surrender."
This statement left everyone else stunned, unsure of Kingsley's intentions. Nevertheless, Gadwell complied and organized the Aurors to retake Azkaban Prison.
"Harry..."
Neville placed a hand on Harry's shoulder and shook his head, signaling for him to stay back. But Harry broke free from Neville's grasp and headed towards the prison with the other Aurors.
