Chapter 1799: A War Without Victors (Part 249)
Chapter 1799: A War Without Victors (Part 249)
"This is quite unexpected. I never imagined that you, of all people, would personally inform me of this matter."
In the dimly lit room, a mirror emitted a faint glow, and a young man at the desk smiled gently at an old acquaintance in the two-way mirror. There was no sarcasm or resentment in his words, but rather a friendly greeting to an old friend.
"How confident are you? Do you need the Ministry to secretly assist you in your upcoming operation?" Minister Kingsley, the current Minister of Magic, clearly took tonight's revenge operation very seriously.
"That won't be necessary. I'll directly use the Fiery Inferno Curse when the time comes. Just remember to have someone clean up the mess afterward. If there are any captured enemies, let your people take care of them as well." Nelson showed no restraint in his desire to kill the remaining Death Eaters, and he smiled as he spoke, "Just remember to control the Inferno and not let it spread. After all, I'm not a madman who kills without blinking, and I don't want innocent people to die from the Inferno."
The faint light on the two-way mirror gradually dimmed, and there was no doubt that even the Ministry would be on high alert when encountering the Inferno Curse. Even the renowned Ministry of Magic had few experts capable of dealing with it. To extinguish the Inferno in a short time, Kingsley would have to assemble a specialized team of firefighters.
"The time left for you and me is running out."
Nelson chuckled lightly, picked up his wand from the desk, and tapped the two-way mirror. The mirror immediately shattered into countless fragments, which he swept into a trash pile with a wave of his wand.
A rapid series of footsteps suddenly echoed from outside, followed by a knock on the door. Moments later, old friend Will entered, his face beaming with excitement as he shared the good news he had just received.
"According to the latest from the Ministry, they will launch an emergency operation against the Goblin Brotherhood tonight. I think our chance has finally come."
As Will spoke, his entire body trembled with anticipation, clearly eager to take action and eliminate those damn Death Eaters.
"It seems our luck isn't too bad."
Nelson's tone was remarkably calm, as if they weren't discussing something of great importance.
"I just received the news as well." Grell hurriedly joined them to share the latest good news.
"We're all aware of it. Let's proceed according to the plan," Nelson said, placing a hand on Grell's shoulder with an air of certainty, "Tonight is probably our only chance. Do what you have to do."
"Don't leave any regrets!" Will patted Grell's shoulder with a smile.
"How can you two remain so calm!"
Grell couldn't understand their composure, feeling a sense of unease amidst the calm before the storm.
"We're prepared to face death, and we're not afraid of it. What's there to worry about?" Will whispered, "You don't have to force yourself."
Grell, displeased, brushed off Will's hand and muttered, "As if I'm some coward!"
"Any other questions?"
Nelson picked up his wand from the table, put it in his pocket, and asked, looking at the two who were joking with each other.
"None."
Both shook their heads.
"Grell, don't alert the enemy just yet. Wait at least half an hour before taking action."
Nelson, who had just donned his black cloak to leave, seemed to remember something and turned to remind them, "If either of you reaches Azkaban Prison ahead of time, remember not to kill Umbridge easily. We need to give that pink toad a big surprise and let her know that even hiding in Diagon Alley won't stop our fury!"
This statement undoubtedly resonated with the other two, as Umbridge, the pink toad, had always been on their hit list.
If it weren't for Umbridge's Muggle-Born Registration Commission, their family wouldn't have been destroyed.
"Are you leaving already?"
Grell was startled, never expecting Nelson's decisiveness and swift action.
"Yes, you stay here for now and keep watch. Also, inform the others; if they want to join in for revenge, they can," Will said, and then he quickly followed Nelson, leaving Grell standing there in a daze.
"What's going on here?" Grell muttered, watching the two depart. He suspected that they didn't trust him and didn't plan to include him, which was why they asked him to stay behind. Despite his grumbling, Grell began notifying the others through various means.
Those who wanted to join would, and those who didn't, well, they never expected much from others anyway.
"Do you think he's trustworthy?"
After leaving the safe house, Will quickened his pace to catch up with his old partner and voiced his doubt.
"Does it matter?" Nelson retorted.
"Oh, you're right," Will paused, then chuckled, "It doesn't matter at all!"
After all, their primary target was the remaining Death Eaters, and the revenge on Kingsley was merely an afterthought, insignificant in the grand scheme.
Grell would do as he pleased; no one would force him. They all understood that after tonight, they would likely be dead, so why bother with such concerns?
"Then let's split up and avoid alerting our targets. If all goes well, we'll meet at Azkaban. Remember to keep Umbridge alive!" Nelson instructed, then waved goodbye to Will with a smile before Apparating away, leaving Will alone.
Watching Nelson's departing figure, Will whispered, "In truth, you never trusted anyone from the start, did you?"
So, even if there were Ministry personnel among them, it didn't matter, as the entire plan had always revolved around Nelson himself.
As for whether Grell was a Ministry agent, Will knew Nelson treated it as a mere task, so the so-called revenge on Kingsley's family was likely just a joke.
"But... this matter isn't important anymore."
"If we truly wanted to kill Kingsley's family and teach the current Minister a lesson, it wouldn't be a difficult task."
Because when they acted without restraint, it was their enemies who should fear.
Grell, the only one left in the safe house handling logistics, and Kingsley, who was communicating through the two-way mirror, were both unaware of this.
They only knew that Nelson had begun his revenge.
They only knew that tonight, the entire British magical community would be in an uproar!
They believed themselves to be the masterminds in control, unaware that from the very beginning, they had never held any power over the situation.
