Chapter 1793: A War with No Victor (Part 243)
Chapter 1793: A War with No Victor (Part 243)
"If you're so concerned, why not leave Britain later?"
Looking at the now-dimmed two-way mirror, Isabella quietly circled the armchair, wrapped her arms around Albert's neck from behind, and gently rested her cheek on his, rubbing it lightly like a kitten to divert his attention and casually ask about her doubts.
In fact, ever since that night when they rushed to the Far East, Isabella had keenly noticed her husband's unusual behavior. He spent a significant amount of time and energy each day monitoring the situation in Britain, as if waiting for something to happen.
"Because the upcoming situation in Britain will be very troublesome, and I don't want to get entangled in those troubles. Leaving that place of chaos early and distancing myself is the best choice for now."
Albert didn't deliberately hide it, but he didn't explain the reason clearly either, obviously not wanting Isabella to know too much, as that would mean carrying more secrets.
"But... I mean, even if we leave Britain later, others probably won't know, right?" Isabella didn't quite understand her husband's train of thought. In her opinion, no one knew when they left Britain or when they traveled the world; it was all up to them.
"Hmm, you're right."
Albert nodded in agreement, but his tone was a bit dismissive.
Isabella noticed his dismissive tone and raised her eyebrows slightly.
"It seems like the situation in Britain will indeed be a big problem."
"It's very troublesome. I even considered running away," Albert said.
"Then tell me about it. Don't keep secrets to yourself all the time; it's too exhausting!" Isabella hugged Albert's head, making him look into her eyes, "I can help you bear the burden; you know I never gossip."
"Alright."
Albert looked at his wife, hesitated for a long time, but finally nodded in agreement.
"The upcoming events in Britain should include... the Goblin Rebellion, Revenge and Settlement, and... Annihilation of the Entire Family!"
Albert smiled bitterly, "That's why I wanted to stay away, to avoid getting splattered with blood."
"Kingsley... who did he offend? Oh, it seems his new policies are very unpopular." Isabella felt she had found the answer in Albert's eyes, but what puzzled her was why Kingsley, who had been diligently cleaning up the mess since taking office and doing a good job, would suddenly face the fate of having his entire family annihilated?
"And... I remember you wrote him a letter before you left," Isabella recalled the two letters Albert had left for Percy, one of which was a warning to Kingsley.
"Yes, but who knows how the prophecy will unfold," Albert said.
Albert firmly believed that Kingsley would find a way to stop the tragedy, but could he really prevent the prophecy from happening?
"You're not involved in this, are you?" Isabella asked, as if she had realized something, turning to her husband.
No, Albert was probably truly involved. Otherwise, he wouldn't have immediately left Britain and sent several Muggle cookbooks to Dobby, who was staying in Britain, through the Ministry of Magic.
This was basically telling others that he was currently traveling.
"I'm not directly involved, at most... well, I'm just fanning the flames, you know. The Second Wizarding War left too much resentment." Albert spoke calmly, "Nelson's group, who lost their family, wants revenge, and Kingsley is also dissatisfied with the situation in the British magical world..."
"So, you facilitated their cooperation?"
Isabella's eyes widened in realization, suddenly understanding why Albert Anderson didn't want to stay in Britain.
The moment the remaining Death Eaters were eradicated, Albert would undoubtedly become the prime suspect. While it was uncertain if Nelson Tobin's group had the capability to exact revenge, Albert, who also despised the Death Eaters and had orchestrated the massacre of numerous werewolves, undoubtedly possessed the ability to annihilate the remaining Death Eaters in a single night.
The most crucial point was that, currently, Albert was the only one in the entire British magical world with such capability.
This blame was too heavy and burdensome for Albert to shoulder, and he couldn't afford to be crushed under it.
Hence, fleeing was indeed a wise decision.
Another reason, as Isabella had guessed, was that Albert intended to personally participate in this terrifying act of revenge.
He had come to this side to completely disassociate himself from the matter, as very few people knew that he possessed a Time Turner.
He continued to monitor the situation in Britain, waiting for the most opportune moment to strike through others.
After Voldemort's downfall, numerous Death Eaters had managed to survive by chance.
Everyone was well aware of the nature of the Death Eaters.
Through various incidents, Albert was acutely aware that these individuals would seek retaliation, and this was one of the reasons he had established Avalon.
Albert, believing himself to be invincible with his external power, was unafraid of revenge, but his family was not.
To ensure his family's safety from the Death Eaters' threats, Albert planned to use Nelson's hands to eliminate them all.
It was a flawless plan, and Nelson alone couldn't achieve it. However, Albert could disguise himself as Nelson, assist in fulfilling his desires, and the Ministry of Magic, or rather, Kingsley, would tacitly approve of this.
To achieve this, they completely ignited the conflict between witches and sprites to divert everyone's attention.
As for the aftermath, nothing needed to be done.
The Ministry focused all its energy on the sprites, and it was normal for them to be unprepared for such a sudden turn of events.
No one could have predicted Nelson's sudden madness and the way he left no witnesses. The most remarkable aspect was how Nelson ensured there were no survivors to testify.
With both the victims and the perpetrators dead, it became easy to make a final judgment on the matter.
Especially since the deceased were all Voldemort's unjudged accomplices, people would only sympathize with the Revenge Squad, Nelson's victims.
Then, the matter could be put to rest.
After dealing with the sprites and absorbing the massive inheritance of the Death Eaters, the Ministry would no longer have to worry about financial shortages.
It was a triple win, at least on the surface.
Kingsley seemed to have emerged victorious.
However, it was evident that Kingsley's actions after taking office couldn't satisfy everyone, and this was the primary reason someone wanted to annihilate his entire family.
They didn't want Kingsley, who had betrayed them, to step over Nelson's corpse and become one of the ultimate winners. They also wanted Kingsley to experience the pain of losing his loved ones completely.
If Albert had remained in Britain, he would have become one of Kingsley's suspects when the incident occurred.
This was something Albert didn't want to happen, even if he had nothing to do with the matter. But if he were to be associated with any bad luck, the fragile friendship they had carefully maintained would be shattered.
