Chapter 1791: A War with No Victor (Part 241)
Chapter 1791: A War with No Victor (Part 241)
"You're leaving?"
The sudden news left the residents of Avalon stunned.
Although everyone had known about this for a while, many still felt uneasy when it actually happened. After all, Albert was the core of Avalon, and his absence made everyone feel insecure. Moreover, the Alchemy Workshop had just started, and it still needed Albert's presence to ensure a good beginning.
"I thought you would stay longer..." Shanna didn't know what to say.
"I initially thought I'd stay in Britain for a bit longer too, but it's not like the time when I was studying at Hogwarts. Many things change with time, don't they?"
Albert smiled and comforted Shanna. It wasn't that he was eager to leave soon, but Minister Kingsley was already urging him. The Minister of Magic was clearly getting impatient.
Or perhaps, the entire magical world was on the verge of losing control and wanted to teach the rebellious goblins a lesson.
According to Albert's latest information, the Goblin Brotherhood had been quietly preparing even before Fred and George's wedding, intending to deal a heavy blow to the Ministry of Magic during the upcoming conflict.
However, the most intriguing part was that Kenneth's Revenge Squad, led by Nelson, was also silently watching. They had already scouted the area and were ready to strike hard at the first sign of a goblin rebellion.
Yes, in the near future, three significant events might occur simultaneously.
It was hard to say whether they had great tacit understanding or if someone was deliberately orchestrating this.
Of course, Albert would never accept such absurd accusations of manipulating the magical world; it was pure nonsense as no one could achieve such a feat.
To reassure the residents of Avalon, Albert spent most of his time before leaving Britain here.
At this moment, he was still making arrangements before his departure.
Regardless, the Alchemy Workshop at the Witch Beauty Parlor had to be operational before he left. Fortunately, Isabella had been training the apothecaries, so officially starting operations wouldn't be too difficult.
As for the issues that might arise after he left Britain, Kenneth, Shanna, and Mrs. Primparnel would keep an eye on them. As long as they wanted to make a fortune from this, they wouldn't let the Alchemy Workshop fail easily.
As long as the Alchemy Workshop ran smoothly, the residents of Avalon would have confidence in Albert's future plans and be willing to buy into his grand vision, which directly impacted Avalon's future.
Albert wasn't worried about this at all.
If something unexpected happened regarding their finances and future, Albert could only say they deserved it.
On the other hand, dealing with Hermione was more challenging.
When she learned from Albert that he would be leaving Britain soon, she felt a bit vulnerable, and her mood became depressed.
This prompted Albert to spend time with her daily, but Hermione still seemed a bit down. She had never felt this uneasy before, worrying about losing the man in her arms, his gentleness, and her protection.
However, Hermione also knew that Albert didn't belong to her; he belonged to his wife and daughter, not to her, his mistress.
At this moment, she suddenly envied both Isabella and Katrina.
But Hermione didn't have Katrina's courage to abandon the successful Witch Beauty Parlor and travel the world with Albert.
"We've always been in contact through the two-way mirrors." Albert patted Hermione's back gently, his voice soft as he assured her, "And I'll come back to visit you often too."
Albert's promise did little to comfort Hermione, knowing that his other lovers had received similar assurances. Those poor women could only fight for his attention every half a year, and she might very well become one of them.
Hermione recalled how she had once secretly mocked Albert's lovers, and now, she found herself in the same situation, a thought that filled her with sadness.
"Once a month."
Hermione cupped Albert's face, looking into his eyes, striving for the best deal for herself.
"Alright, once a month. I'll do my best to make it happen," Albert agreed readily.
Hermione regretted not pushing for a weekly arrangement. She wanted more of Albert's time, but it seemed unlikely, and being too demanding would only annoy him. So, she had to endure her own frustration.
However, due to work commitments, their time together was limited, and Hermione suddenly resented herself for taking the job at the Ministry of Magic so soon, instead of spending more time with Albert.
But there was no turning back in this world, not even with a Time-Turner.
There was no room for regrets.
So, Hermione could only cherish their limited time together with her intense emotions and accept the cruel reality that Albert was about to embark on a journey around the world.
The night before their departure from Britain, the Anderson family invited Madam MacDougal over for dinner and shared their plans to travel the world.
Although Madam MacDougal had expected this day to come, she couldn't help but feel emotional, not because of the Anderson family's impulsive decision, but because she knew the wizarding world was about to face unrest again.
"The world will not change easily for anyone," Albert said, never believing he could be great enough to bring peace to the entire world, nor would he ever overestimate his abilities.
"Dear, are you done with your matters here?"
That evening, as Katrina packed her luggage, she flipped through her notebook, ensuring she had completed all the tasks she had planned before leaving Britain.
"Almost done. Let's go now!"
Albert said something that surprised everyone.
"Are you planning to leave in the middle of the night?" Isabella laughed, holding her daughter.
"Parting is always a sad affair, and there's a time difference between here and the Far East," Albert opened the suitcase and winked at the twin sisters.
"Will you introduce me to your family?" Katrina asked, holding Tom close.
"They already know about you. I mentioned you to them on the phone, and they were quite shocked at first," Albert kissed Katrina's forehead. After they all entered the suitcase, he summoned Carla and handed her two letters.
"Remember to deliver these letters to Percy personally," Albert instructed the house-elf as he picked up the suitcase and left via Apparition.
Next, he would head straight to the Far East to meet his family, a plan they had already discussed over the phone.
