Chapter 179: Norville's Madness
Chapter 179: Norville's Madness
Five minutes into the match, the first goal finally appeared.
It was Angelina of Gryffindor...
The cheers from the stands echoed like thunder, reverberating in the cold air.
Kyle clapped along with everyone else, just as Lee Jordan had said, Angelina was indeed an excellent Chaser.
During her offense, she seemed to fly effortlessly, breaking through the Slytherin defense all by herself.
But just as Kyle finished clapping and was about to continue watching the match, a fiery red bird suddenly flew through the crowd and landed on his shoulder.
"Fawkes?"
Kyle looked at the Phoenix on his shoulder with surprise.
What's going on? Does the Headmaster's bird also enjoy watching Quidditch?
I've never heard of that.
The young wizards around him were also startled. Cedric stood with his mouth agape, staring at Fawkes like a lovesick fool, almost drooling.
"This...is this a Phoenix?"
"That's right, that's right!" Suddenly, he stood up excitedly, gesturing as he spoke, "This is a Phoenix, and it's exactly as described in the books!"
"Calm down, look at you getting all worked up." Kyle glanced at him disapprovingly, "It's just a Phoenix, no big deal."
Cedric pouted.
Speaking of it lightly...he's never seen a living Phoenix before in his life.
At this moment, Kyle had taken out a White Freshleaf Leaf and handed it to Fawkes.
Watching the match, of course, wouldn't be complete without some snacks.
Unexpectedly, Fawkes didn't eat it, but shook his head and leaned towards Kyle's ear, saying something.
"What's going on?"
Kyle furrowed his brows.
Fawkes wasn't here to watch the match; it had come to deliver a message.
Dumbledore had business with him.
But the match had just started...
Seeing that Kyle wasn't moving, Fawkes raised its head and pecked at his hair.
"Alright, alright, don't pluck my hair. I'll go then." Kyle had no choice but to stand up.
"What's wrong?" Conna asked curiously.
Kyle whispered, "The Headmaster is looking for me, I have to go back to the castle."
"The Headmaster?"
"Yeah, this Phoenix is the Headmaster's pet..."
"Does this...need our help?" Cedric asked.
"No need, you guys continue watching the match."
Kyle took a reluctant glance at the pitch and then squeezed out of the crowd, walking quickly towards the castle.
There wasn't a single person on the way, and Kyle also learned from Fawkes the reason why Dumbledore was looking for him.
Upon returning, Kyle went straight up the stairs and arrived at the Fourth Floor Forbidden Corridor.
Dumbledore was already waiting there, along with Hagrid.
"Professor, Hagrid."
Kyle greeted them and frowned, "I heard from Fawkes that Norville has gone mad?"
“I believe so.” Dumbledore spoke softly, “Sorry Kyle, this may delay you from watching the match, but now only you can figure out the reason for this.”
“It's fine, Norville is my friend too.” Kyle shook his head, “Can I see him now?”
“Of course.”
Dumbledore opened the door and led Kyle inside.
In the room, Norville was lying on the trapdoor, sleeping soundly.
“Some necessary measures.” Dumbledore explained, “If he's awake, he'll go on a rampage, attacking everything around him, and it'll be hard to keep him in with this door.”
“I understand.” Kyle nodded.
Then he stepped forward and carefully examined Norville's body.
Norville suddenly opened his eyes, and a furious roar reverberated through the room, shaking even the dust from the ceiling.
Norville's muscles tensed, and he leaped from the ground, pouncing on Kyle, the closest target.
His speed was astonishing, and in an instant, he was in front of Kyle, his three heads opening wide to reveal yellowed teeth.
But just then, a chain appeared out of thin air, binding Norville's neck.
This was followed by a second, a third...
Six chains, like a spider web, tightly restrained Norville, preventing him from moving forward even an inch, no matter how much he struggled.
The intense struggle caused the chains to cut into his skin, embedding deeply into his body.
"Oh..."
Hagrid covered his chest and let out a painful moan, as if the chains were on his own body.
"Please, Dumbledore, please!"
But Dumbledore remained unmoved, his eyes fixed on Kyle without blinking.
Norville continued to roar, and Kyle tried to talk to him, but to no avail.
Kyle had no choice but to focus on Norville's roars.
Without consciousness, Norville's roars seemed to contain the word "revenge" more frequently.
"Revenge!"
Soon, as Norville struggled recklessly, the chains gradually turned red, and the room filled with a bloody smell.
Hagrid covered his mouth and cried silently. He wanted to comfort Norville, but as he approached, he almost got his arm bitten off.
Fortunately, Dumbledore pulled him back in time.
Norville's injuries worsened, and finally, Kyle spoke up.
"That's enough, Professor."
"Sleep!"
A blinding light flashed through the room, and the chains disappeared. Norville slammed into the wall behind him, wobbled twice, and then collapsed.
Hagrid rushed over and applied Freshleaf Essence to Norville's wounds.
Dumbledore looked at Kyle.
Without waiting for a question, Kyle spoke up, "If I'm not mistaken, the reason he's like this is because he thinks you're dead and wants revenge on us all."
Dumbledore's expression changed slightly.
"But I'm fine, and he even tried to bite me just now..."
"That's the strange part," Kyle frowned. "He seems to think you're dead and wants revenge on all of us."
