Chapter 179: An Uninvited Guest - Part 2
Chapter 179: An Uninvited Guest - Part 2
Liam was at a loss for words at Yue Buqun's adeptness at rolling with the punches. He asked curiously, "Don't you want to know what this 'half-rescue' is all about?"
"No need. I trust that the Transcendent will handle it well. Besides, my situation can't get any worse than it is now. Ever since the incident, I've been living in constant fear, worried that one day I might be exposed and disgraced for eternity, dragging the Huashan Sect down with me. Now, at least, I feel a bit better." It seemed that after the series of setbacks, Yue Buqun had finally come to terms with his fate.
With that, Liam decided to cut to the chase. He took out a contract and said, "Sign this, and I'll start the procedure. All the details are on this paper."
Yue Buqun took the contract and read it. It stated that he would have to teach the Shopkeeper all the martial arts he knew, while the Shopkeeper would ensure that these techniques would not be spread in his world. In return, the Shopkeeper would restore the organs he had lost, though the restored organs would only return his body to its original state, with no additional functions.
In other words, the restored organs would allow Yue Buqun to regain his normal voice and facial hair, and the feminized state of his body would be reversed, but the essential functions would be gone.
"This is better than I expected. After all, my child is already grown, and I don't plan on having another son." Yue Buqun shook his head and signed the contract.
Seeing Yue Buqun sign the contract, Liam heard the voice of the Multiverse General Store in his mind. "Acquired: Huashan Long Fist, Huashan Sword Technique, Huashan Internal Art, Nourishing Sword Technique, Xiyi Sword Technique, Three Green Peaks of Mount Taiyue, Nineteen Jade Maiden Swords, Purple Mist Divine Art, Evil-Dispelling Sword Manual." As the voice spoke, a blue gas emerged from Yue Buqun and transformed into nine books on the bookshelf.
With the items secured, Liam relaxed. He turned to Yue Buqun, still bound by the vines, and said, "I can indeed restore your abilities, but if I do, your practice of the Evil-Dispelling Sword Technique will be rendered useless. I assume you wouldn't want that. To achieve both goals, you don't have enough merit. Since you want me to find a way for Huashan to survive, I think it's essential that your martial arts remain intact. So, you'll have to make some sacrifices."
After signing the contract, Yue Buqun understood the rules of the Multiverse General Store. Knowing that neither party could renege on the agreement, he felt a great weight lifted from his shoulders. When he heard Liam explain that a complete restoration would render the Evil-Dispelling Sword Technique useless, he quickly responded, "Let's go with your proposal. For the sake of Huashan's future, I'm willing to make the sacrifice."
Liam couldn't tell if Yue Buqun was sincere or just saying what needed to be said, but at this point, it didn't matter. He believed that after this treatment, Yue Buqun would take his advice seriously, and with the physical issues resolved, he might not become as psychologically twisted as he did in the original story.
With that in mind, Liam instructed Little Qing to bind Yue Buqun more tightly, then took out the treatment needles he had obtained from the radiation and injected two of them.
At first, Yue Buqun showed no reaction, but after a while, he began to tremble violently, trying to scratch the parts of his body that were regenerating. Fortunately, Liam had anticipated this and had Little Qing bind Yue Buqun tightly, preventing him from using his hands. Despite this, the vines creaked under the strain of his struggles.
Curious, Liam asked Little Qing what was happening. Little Qing's response was surprising. He could sense that the force of Yue Buqun's struggles was several tons.
Is this the effect of internal energy? Liam was even more excited about his latest acquisition.
Ten minutes later, the creaking finally stopped. Liam signaled Little Qing to release Yue Buqun. By this time, Yue Buqun's face was as pale as gold, and he was drenched in sweat, looking as if he had just emerged from a bath. Despite his exhausted state, he was elated. Ignoring Liam's presence, he reached down and, upon feeling the restored parts, shouted joyfully, "I have it back, I have it back."
After Yue Buqun bowed deeply, he said, "I was blind to your true divinity and have been disrespectful. Yet, the Great Immortal has still forgiven my past transgressions and bestowed your miraculous healing upon me. I am truly ashamed. Therefore, I swear that upon my return to the mortal world, I will do many good deeds and accumulate more Merit to atone for my previous actions."
"Very well, then", Liam gestured for Yue Buqun to rise and said, "If you need anything in the future, you can silently invoke the Multiverse General Store. Then, find any door and open it to come here. As long as I see your Merit increase and your Karma remain stable, you can trade items from your side for things here." With that, Liam showed him the various goods in the store.
"Your will be done, Great Immortal." Yue Buqun, after seeing the items that he considered to be divine treasures, approached Liam and bowed again. He then straightened his clothes and said, "I will now return to the mortal world. I will surely visit again in the future." With that, Yue Buqun left the store. The Multiverse General Store also conveyed a message: "World fate altered, 28 Deviation Points gained."
This was a pretty good harvest. It seems that Yue Buqun's mental state was greatly affected by the surgery. Now that he has recovered, his intelligence is likely to return, and his fate should not end as poorly as it did before.
With this thought, Liam walked over to the shelf and began examining the newly appeared martial arts manuals. As he read, he noticed that the internal energy described in the manuals was very similar to the Spiritual Energy he cultivated. He decided to try the methods outlined in the Huashan Internal Art to circulate his Spiritual Energy within his body.
When the Spiritual Energy followed the core techniques of the internal art and flowed into his arm, Liam lifted the nearby counter. He found that it felt much lighter, and with a single effort, he managed to lift it with one hand.
It seems that Spiritual Energy and internal energy do have a lot in common. With this realization, Liam chose to infuse all the martial arts except the Evil-Exorcising Sword Technique with his Spiritual Energy. The three basic techniques—Huashan Long Fist, Huashan Sword Technique, and Huashan Internal Art—each cost 1 Deviation Point. The more complex techniques, such as the Nourishing Sword Technique, Xiyi Sword Technique, Three Green Peaks of Mount Taiyue, and the Nineteen Jade Maiden Swords, each cost 3 Deviation Points. The most expensive was the Purple Mist Divine Art, which required 7 Deviation Points.
This seems a bit too cheap, Liam thought as he asked the System to infuse him. After a beam of light infused him, he read the System's message and realized that whether it was martial arts or internal arts, they were all methods of using internal energy, and Spiritual Energy could completely replace internal energy. The infusion was simply to familiarize his body with the method of circulating Spiritual Energy through the meridians.
No wonder it's so cheap. Since the energy level of Spiritual Energy is higher than that of internal energy, Spiritual Energy can sometimes replace internal energy to achieve the same results, but the reverse is not possible. Additionally, since Liam's Spiritual Energy and these martial arts both belong to the Taoist tradition, he could perfectly use Spiritual Energy to activate these martial arts.
After understanding all of this, Liam felt that receiving this guest was well worth it. He had learned a multitude of martial arts and still had a net gain of 6 Deviation Points.
