Chapter 1789: A War with No Victor (Two Hundred and Thirty-Nine)
Chapter 1789: A War with No Victor (Two Hundred and Thirty-Nine)
"What are you two up to?"
Just as Harry and Ron were about to leave, they suddenly heard a familiar yet unfamiliar voice from behind. They exchanged glances and stopped in their tracks, turning back to see Percy pushing through the guests, holding the hand of a young woman and quickly approaching them.
"Oh, it's Percy. I thought you'd be too busy to come," Ron said calmly, but his words sounded particularly grating to Percy.
"Where are the others? Why are they all crowded here?"
Ignoring Ron's sarcasm, Percy turned to Harry and asked about the reason for the crowd at Avalon's entrance.
It was already surprising that such a large group hadn't caused chaos.
Percy's intuition told him that something must have happened. Otherwise, with Fred and George's connections in Avalon, it was unlikely that only Harry and Ron would be here to greet the guests, and even more unlikely that things would be in such disarray.
"We're not quite sure either," Harry said, glancing at the young woman beside Percy and lowering his voice. "Suddenly, there are many more guests with invitations who aren't on the guest list."
"I think I understand what's going on. Don't let them keep crowding here; let them in," Percy said, indicating for Harry and Ron to stay and continue welcoming the guests. He then hurried into Avalon with his girlfriend to find his parents first.
"What a jerk," Ron muttered, tossing the list aside and starting to collect the guests' invitations, guiding them into Avalon. It was indeed inappropriate for them to be crowded here.
As for the subsequent issues, it wasn't their concern.
Percy quickly found Mr. and Mrs. Weasley and learned the reason for the situation. He didn't oppose the Weasley couple's actions, but he felt there was a problem with their approach. Not only had they kept it from the "people involved," but they had also disrupted the original wedding plans without offering an alternative solution, which was a significant issue.
While Percy was arrogantly helping to direct the twins' wedding preparations, Lee Jordan, who was still at the scene, quietly slipped away. He intended to find Albert to discuss how to handle the matter.
"You guys are slacking off here!"
As Lee Jordan pushed aside the tent curtain and stepped in, he saw everyone sitting together, chatting leisurely, which irritated him.
"No, we just didn't want to cause any trouble for everyone!" Cedric shrugged, speaking with a hint of frustration.
"What should we do about Fred and George's wedding?" Lee Jordan fixed his gaze on Albert, who was playing with his child alongside Isabella, feeling that as their best friends, they should do something.
"Rest assured, the Weasley family cares more about this wedding than you do. There won't be any major issues, and no one will want to make a joke out of it," Albert said dismissively, leaving Lee Jordan feeling frustrated. What had he been running around for all this time?
"You just haven't adjusted your mindset yet," Albert patted Lee Jordan's shoulder and explained the reason, helping him realize that this was ultimately a Weasley family matter. Although they were close friends with Fred and George, they were still considered 'outsiders.' At this point, the help they could provide was limited.
Moreover, this wasn't even a significant issue, at least in Albert's opinion.
The worst-case scenario was that 'Fred and George' would be slightly inconvenienced, and the biggest problem was that none of the three sets of parents had informed their children about this matter.
As the main characters of this wedding, Fred, George, Angelina, and Katie would undoubtedly be upset by this turn of events, but they would likely keep their tempers in check until after the ceremony, unless they no longer wished to be married.
Lee Jordan stood there in a daze, then heaved a heavy sigh. "I really can't understand what they're thinking."
"Who knows?"
"It's probably due to various factors, but I believe they also don't want Fred and George to keep causing trouble!"
Albert spoke in an old-fashioned tone, "Parents are always distrustful of their children, and they actually care more about their own face than their children's wishes."
If Fred and George truly didn't want to follow the Weasley couple's wishes, Albert had a way to keep all the guests who didn't show up personally out of the wedding.
But doing so would likely ruin the wedding, and Fred and George's choice was quite good, so Albert wasn't too worried about them.
"Forget it, let them be." Lee Jordan said, pretending not to sympathize with Fred and George. It would be strange not to be angry with the wedding being in such a state, but he was too lazy to deal with this mess.
He had initially wanted to ask Albert for help, but now he didn't need to bother.
"Oh, by the way, I just saw Percy, and he brought his girlfriend." Lee Jordan wanted to change the topic to something light and interesting.
Isabella glanced at the calm-faced Penelope and sighed softly, noticing Ginny's subtle reaction. "I'll take care of little James for now!"
"Please!"
Ginny greeted Isabella and hurriedly left, obviously very interested in Miss Audrey Gambol.
There was no mistake in the first issue of the 1996 book!
"Is she pretty?" Penelope asked Lee Jordan casually.
"Whether she's pretty or not isn't important. What's crucial is that her family can provide career support for Percy." Isabella spoke softly, stating the harshest fact.
Just like the meaning of the name Audrey: Noble Potestas.
The idle Albert didn't want to linger in this oppressive tent any longer. He signaled to the guys to leave and secretly go check out Audrey Gambol, who was being surrounded by the Weasley family.
To be honest, this noble girl wasn't more beautiful than Penelope, but she would probably be a better match for Percy's personality.
After all, there weren't many girls who could patiently listen to Percy talk about work, and Penelope didn't have that much patience.
If Albert were Percy, he would probably make a similar choice.
Beauty is highly time-sensitive, and the beauty of Europeans is even more fleeting.
Finding a girl who suits his heart and marrying her is obviously more important.
This harsh reality made Penelope feel incredibly depressed. Although she had already broken up with Percy, she still wanted to use this opportunity to make him regret his foolish decision.
However, Penelope didn't intend to do anything extra. Their relationship was in the past, and they were now just familiar strangers.
Isabella could see the changes in Penelope's heart, and she couldn't help but find it a little amusing.
That's how women are.
They hold grudges!
But how many school romances truly end up together?
